So my kid isn't the only one! The boy is 13, and getting him into the shower takes a while, getting him out takes even longer!

Hit the antique mall earlier. Lots of kits there this time. I should go back and take some pics, see if anyone here wants them. Anyway, found these, talked to the seller and got them two for one. So $12CDN. The Ferrari is missing instructions, the Corvette has been primed, otherwise, all is complete.

I was really happy with the one I built. Only issue I had was getting the body on. The engine doesn't really fit into the engine bay very well. Very tight squeeze!

So what happened to the Charles Manson thread? Someone cross a line in there today?

I only have one prima donna. Actually, the better term would be self-centered narcissistic egotistical princess. And if things don't change next week, she will most likely be gone by Christmas. Today was a MUCH better day!

Just Paid My Highest Price EVER For a Model
iamsuperdan replied to Snake45's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I don't think I've ever broken $100 on a kit. But I have spent more than that on certain guitar parts. Just don't tell my wife. -
Dealing with staff. I know I'm the boss, and this goes with the territory, but having to drop everything to deal with an issue caused by someone's lack of intgrity and respect really bothers me.

Highway thru Hell

Have to say, not a very exciting show last night. Wifey thinks I'm nuts, but I miss driving in the snow. Wish we'd get a dump here. Today is going to be 3 degrees and sunny, been like that for a week, is going to be like that for at least another week. Sounds like next week is the seaon finale, andit's going be a history lesson; Jamie discussing the history of towing. And a lot of Mighty Mo. Honestly, sounds like a snooze fest to me. I may have missed it in past shows, but does Jamie have a personal connection to Mighty Mo? Or is it just some old truck he things is awesome? I think I'd be more interested if I knew that it was the first truck he ever owned, or belonged to his dad, or something like that. -
Dodge Monaco to Plymouth Fury parts?
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Update for you guys. My order from Shapeways arrived just now. Only took a week to get to Canada, so that's pretty good. Initial thoughts..holy packaging. Kit sized box, with multiple layers of large shipping air packs, then each piece in it's own bubble wrapped envelope. Absolutely no chance of shipping damage. As for the parts, they look okay. Molded in a sort of semi-transparent resin. They seem brittle, will see what happens when I start sanding and shaping them. The lettering on the grille looks correct, maybe a little oversized. I'm going to hit them with some primer, as I think that will better show the details. Will post those pics later. -
Unseen detail. But I know it's there
iamsuperdan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nope. If it can't be seen, I'm not going to put a ton of effort into it. Prime example would be the top of a transmission. I don't spend any time sanding the top join lines between the two halves because I know that once built, no one will ever see them. i'll take care of the bottom, but the top gets no love at all. -
Wheeler Dealer Escort RS Cosworth

Two wings, three wings, doesn't matter. those cars are BA and I want one. Not as much as I'd want a Sierra Cosworth. But still. Want. -
Signs of getting old...... at modeling
iamsuperdan replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just turned 44, and I still fee lpretty good. Don't do anything to excess, stay active, cut negativity from your life. I find it pretty simple. Without getting too preachy... The active part always seems to be the hardest for people i know. It doesn't take much. Instead of sitting at a desk at lunch, go for a walk. After dinner, go do something that doesn't involve sitting. If one can't find the time to get 15 minuites of activity in their day, then I think there's a something bigger going on that needs to be addressed. Same goes for eating better. If you don't have the extra 10 minutes to prepare something healthier for yourself, it's time to re-evaluate. -
Canadian resin casters or company's?
iamsuperdan replied to 426 pack's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I find his stuff top notch. He's alwasy more that reasonable when it comes to shipping charges, at least for me anyway. I'm pretty sure he'd work with other Canadians for shipping too. I personally have never had any delays in terms of ordering and receiving product, but that's not to say there would never be delays. After all, he is a one man show, and does have to manufacture product. Pretty sure his site makes mention of low quantities on certain items too. And if I recall, he has partnered with a guy in the US to try and assist with US shipping. So far, I've ordered up a couple of VW engines, a couple of sets of wheels/tires, seats, and a bunch of stuff for the 442 Olds. Will continue to buy from him for sure! -
In case no one has seen the thread in the trade section, I have a bunch of slot cars up for trade. In most cases, these are mint or near-mint, many are unraced. All are analog, and have the original cases. Thanks.

Kenworth W925
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks for the tip! Will pay attention when I get to this stage. Engine has been painted white. Looks odd, but I think after adding some details and trying my hand at some weathering, should look okay. -
At least it wasn't found on road dead!

I'm not a fan of diesel. Gas is easier to find at out of the way gas stations, they warm up faster, and this engine will more than handle the trailers it will get hooked up to. And it's about $12K CDN cheaper!

Are you sh*tting me? First kit?! Lolz You're doing an awesome job on this one. I especially like the use of eggs.

So! Who wants to build this one????
iamsuperdan replied to DrKerry's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think if I had the kind of money these Sheiks have, I'd have myself one heII of a collection too. And I'm sure I'd have some wacky stuff. Nothing that looked like the Lonestar Jeep thing, but I'd have some custom builds that would qualify as mental. -
Highway thru Hell

SO has he shut down the Hope operation and moved everything to Chilliwack? Or has he got both locations running? -
On Monday it was -19 Celcius and snowing. Yesterday, we had freezing rain. Today it has warmed up to 5 degrees, and everything is a big sloppy mess. I'll be lucky to get out of my parking lot and stay clean. I wish it would just stay cold so the roads stay dry and clean. Conversely, I'm not going to complain about warm weather.

What do you drive?

My new truck finally arrived last week after almost two months of shipping delays due to the Texas storm. Accessories finally done, so she's ready for adventure now! 2018 Ram Power Wagon, pretty much loaded except for sunroof. -
