  1. I'm putting on my Fox Mulder hat here The Great Lakes region, especially around Lake Superior, has a long history of UFO sightings. In fact, in November 1975 (the same month the Fitzgerald sank), there was a wave of UFO reports along the U.S.–Canada border, including near the Soo Locks and northern Michigan. Also, some UFO researchers suggest that the ship’s radios were knocked out—not by water, but by a sudden electromagnetic pulse, the kind often reported in UFO encounters. Electromagnetic interference could also cripple the ship's engines and controls, not just the radio. The ballast control was also electronically controlled. Leaving the EF vulnerable to a massive and unprecedented storm. Electromagnetic interference can also mess with radar. Other ships in the area reported their radar going blank, around the same time the EF vanished. The broken hatch theory was a coverup. I'm not saying it was aliens, but... This story is so much more fun than the broken hatch and hull fatigue theory/reality. I should flesh this out into a screenplay. Could be a fun movie. Or X-Files episode in the upcoming reboot.
  2. Looks really good! I wonder though...has anyone built Hopper's Blazer to actually look like Hopper's Blazer?
  3. If you have a printer, there are a ton of free figures on cults3d.com that you can download and scale to size. Lots of auto diorama figures too. Photographers, mechanics, dudes standing around, girls sitting on hoods, kids being kids, etc.
  4. That turned out really nice! Excellent work on the lights. Very realistic.
  5. Someone had previously asked about bringing back the "post preview" feature. Well good news. It never went away. Here's where you find it.
  6. Hmm...that's really strange. There's defintiely nothing wrong with your thread that I can see. It's not locked, it's never been moved or anything. Will tag Dave in on these, he's our computer guru.
  7. For us Canadians, there's only one country that we have issues with shipping to.
  8. Can't be done in North America! Literally every new truck available comes with AC as standard equipment. In fact, I believe every new vehicle available for sale in 2025 has AC as standard. Even the Jeep Wrangler, which even just a couple of years ago could be purchased with no AC, no power windows no power mirrors, no power locks, and no remote entry.
  9. This is similar to what's happening in Canada now. We have to complete customs clearance on a third party app prior to hitting the post office to drop of a parcel. They need to know what the parcel contains, the value, and where the product was manufactured. Then they charge the appropriate tariff/duty/whatever and collect it. Then you get a QR that you present to the post office. Then you pay the post office. Ugh.
  10. It's a simple change, but a change none-the-less.
  11. Hey guess what? The first change has been made. Anyone catch it yet?
  12. Yes, we've set up a Printify site for work. We design all of our Arctic Trucks merch right on their site, then there's a link or code or something that allows us to upload their "store" directly onto our website. Customers order, pay by credit card, and it's all handled through the Printify interface. Then Printify prints as required and sends the product. We choose our markup and selling price, and can track our sales and earnings through their portal. It works really well. So at some point, we'll be doing something like that. Eventually.
  13. Remember when Ferrari made attractive cars? All of these new Ferraris just leave me feeling flat. I'm sure they're amazing to drive, but part of the appeal of a Ferrari was that it was a sexy beast to look at. And it's gettingt worse. Just look at the brand new Testarossa.
  14. Still looking. Kits should represent trucks from about 1996 and newer.
  15. Well that escalated quickly. 😕
  16. Anything political gets deleted, no matter what side of the fence the posts are about. That's always been our policy.
  17. Nope! These newer Revell kits are brand new tools, not based on any previous kit. They have their flaws, but they're really good. Available in coupe, targa, and cabriolet variants.
  18. Out of curiosity, I just looked into this. I just checked the first three pages of the sub-forums, looking for anything related to emergency vehicles. Here's what I found. Works in progress: Model cars - 1 Trucks, SUV, light commercial - 2 Big Rigs - 2 Under Glass: Model cars - 1 Trucks, SUV, light commercial - 2 Big Rigs - 2 That number roughly doubles if we include tow trucks. And some of those threads were started many, many months ago, in one case a thread is a couple of years old. It only moves forward if somone comments. Personally, I don't think that's enough activity to justify a seperate forum. But we will be discussing this and all the other sub-forum division ideas in our next Zoom meeting. After getting into some of the higher level and backstage issues, we're almost ready to start getting into the nitty gritty of these ideas, the ones that people will actually notice. I'm not picking on you or the idea. Like we've said, we want to hear all of your ideas, and we're considering and discussing all of the suggestions. This is just one example that shows some of the things we look at. We could deep dive some of these ideas and get into things like the number of threads, thread start date, number of posts within each thread, number of participants in each thread, etc. There will be at least one additional sub-forum added. Plus, some clarification and renaming in some sub-forums.
  19. I see them all the time. When I was fleet manager for a Ford dealer, I talked to countless clients (both commercial and individuals) that wanted basic trucks and had no idea that we could simply order them one. And 8 weeks later, their new F150 XL reg cab longbox or F250 Supercab shortbox would show up with its steel wheels and steel bumpers and vinyl floors and manual seats and no park sensors or chrome or adaptive cruise or BLIS or pedestrian braking or giant touchscreens or remote starters or LED lighting or any of that. The local Chev dealer stocks plenty of base model Silverados. And the Ram Tradesman models are super commonplace. The issue is that most dealers won't stock them, because "that's not what people want." So people come in, see a lot full of crewcabs with the stubby box and all the options and because they have low attention spans and aren't willing to wait, they just take what's in stock then complain about how trucks are expensive and have too much equipment. Which begs the questions. Do people actually want loaded crewcabs? Or do they just take what is on the lot? People buy what's in stock, so that's what the dealer orders. What would happen if dealers ordered more zipper base model trucks? Do people buy because they want them or because it's what's immediately available. Again, everyone seems to want instant gratitifcation, and convincing someone to wait 8 weeks for a new vehicle is a challenge. Here's the other thing. Dealers make more money on a loaded crewcab than a base model. The markup is higher, so even if they dicount it harder, they'll still make more money with the loaded truck. Plus, sales people get paid on deliveries, not orders. So most salespeople will really push what is in stock so they get paid sooner. Again, in stock, show a discount, people get suckered in, salesperson gets paid immediately, dealer orders more loaded trucks because that's what's selling. As for truck size, in 1975 an F150 regular cab with 8ft box was around 213in - just under 18ft. A 2025 F150 reg cab with the 8ft box is about 228in - roughly 19ft. So that's only a foot longer.
  20. Actually, merch is on the radar, and because of sites like Printify, we can offer merch and not worry about stocking it or shipping it. So, I can say without a doubt, there WILL be merch available at some point. However, I can also say (as I said before) that merch is pretty low on the priority chart. Be patient, and all will be revealed in time.
  21. The one I build many years ago was two-tone grey and silver. The more recent one is a matte sand colour, and I blacked out all of the chrome. I like the dark grey.
  22. If people can't wrap their heads around how a Charlie Kirk thread could get political... As for the 911 thread, out of 8 seperate posts, 6 had nothing to do with 911, and were drifting towards religious/political debate. Sometimes it's just easier to eliminate a thread before it devolves and people start getting angry with other, and thus before it starts getting reported.
