Revell Land Rover Series iii 109
iamsuperdan replied to cruz's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beauty. I love these Revell LR kits And your colour choices are how I would spec a real one. Pretty close to Keswick Green, with a white roof and wheels -
Excellent work! Have often thought about bringing a kit with me when I travel for work.
-
Shipped with no packaging at all!? That's wild. And worse than the kit I received that was shipped in a bag. Although, yours doesn't look like it was sat on or used for soccer practice.

Oh please. I'm all for originality, but if someone sees an engineless, interiorless, rotting old car in a field and thinks that it would be awesome to restore it with an ev drivetrain and get it back on the road, I will always be in support of that. So much better than letting the classic keep rotting away to the point it's unrestorable. But I guess it's better to crush 'em than save 'em, right? And just like with ICE vehicles, there are shops that do amazing work, and there are shops full of hacks. Just like there are excellent kits people can purchase and do at home, and there are crappy kits. Regardless of what people are working on, they have to research and make sure they aren't paying for cheaply made components or lousy quality. EV or ICE, it's all the same.

EV or ICE, all new cars are dangerous, can catch fire, and have more tech than anyone needs or knows what to do with...tech that will fail at some point. I don't care what brand you're loyal to, it ALL glitches or fails. I'm 100% for EV swapping classics if it means keeping them on the road instead of scrapping them. The 911 posted above was a shell with no drivetrain. Of course, that owner figured an EV swap was easy and obviously made a few errors. Done right, by a reputable company, and I'd be all in because it's better than crushing them. Vintage Re-Power Electric Classic Cars | The World's Largest Converter of Classic Cars

A few kits arrived over the past week. Surprised at how detailed this Heller 917 is. I always thought they were pretty basic. Will definitely be doing this in Gulf livery. I have some Splash Paints incoming for it. Also got some decals from SpotModel, which I'll post about in a week or two when my next purchase arrives. Pretty stoked about this one. Not pictured are my two additional Tamiya GT3RS kits that also arrived.

Yes and no. We will always have free access to the site and forums, as we don't want to take anything away. So for those happy with how things are now, rest easy. Having said that, we are planning a paid tier with some additional features. Mainly, ad-free. Plus there will most likely be some additional "members only" sub-forums. We're unsure what that might include at this time. We don't know what the magazine has planned it terms of an online presence. We are not getting rid of the wanted or trade sections, but we do want to add a buy & sell section. Having said that, we know that can be problematic, so we're still discussing how this might work. We do know that it would be part of a paid membership, which would hopefully weed out the scammers and bots. Lots to sort out still.

We'll add that to our list of suggestions for forum/site enhancements! lolz -
The magazine and the "new" forum and website are owned and operating 100% independent of one another. Having said that, everyone is still friends, so there will most likely be some collaborations of some sort. As for paid memberships, there are a few things we need to sort out, like what members will get for their membership fee, but we all like the idea of offering an ad-free experience. So we'll see. The goal would be that a paid membership covers the ad-revenue generated by a user, so that membership covers the income we'd normally get from ads and clicks. We need to figure out exactly how that breaks down per user, and then we will know how much to charge. Nobody panic! We do not want this to be expensive. We want it to be less than the cost of a typical 1/25 scale car model kit. And no, I'm not referring to the cost of a Tamiya McLaren, or a big rig, or a Pocher. For now, yes. But there are many changes in the works.

Everything will transfer to the new address and will function exactly it does right now. -
I won't be clicking any links to ai content. I'd rather support real artists and give them the clicks and the likes. As for cover songs, I like them, but only if the artist doing the covering puts their own spin on the song. I've heard so many covers that are so close to the original, you might as well just listen to the original. For example, a band named Trivium did a cover of Metallica's Master of Puppets. They did an excellent job, but it's so close that I'll always just choose Metallica's version. On the flip side, the cover should at least be recognizable. Judas Priest and their version of Johnny B Goode comes to mind. It's so, so awful. Just...wow. Some cover songs I particularly like: In Flames - Everything Counts Health - Be Quiet and Drive Deftones - Drive Placebo - Running Up That Hill Filter - One (The Loneliest Number) Rammstein - Stripped In Flames - Wicked Game Children of Bodom - Rebel Yell Children of Bodom - Oops I Did It Again Orgy - Blue Monday Faith No More - Easy

Being thankful for this forum.....

I agree, this is a "nice" community. People sometimes gripe about our language rules, and our rules about politics or religion or other taboo subjects. Well, this thread is why we have those rules in place. It's proof that our masterplan is working. There's enough negativity and BS out there, especially online, and we want this little corner of the internet to be a refuge from all of that. Let's all relax and talk about our hobby and share photos and stories and just enjoy the moment. Thanks.- 30 replies

Thirteen seasons? Wow. To think they've been at it for over 13 years. And are no closer than they were when they started. Gotta have a hobby I guess.

I'm going to disagree with you on this one! I had a 1993 XJ Sport. Bought it in 1998. I put over 400,000km on it was bulletproof. My only unplanned repair was a radiator that somehow developed a hole. I never had a breakdown or a failed part. It never left me stranded. Everything worked perfectly for the 12 or 13 years I owned it. And I didn't baby it. It was lifted, it had plenty of mechanical and electrical mods. It went camping and did trails constantly. It did several Jeep Jamborees and other trail adventures, as well as commuting to university. And mine didn't rust in all the time I had it. Of course, my daughter now wants one, and finding one with intact rocker panels is pure unobtanium. Unless I want to pay well into the 5 figures. Which I don't.

Had a few recent trades that have gone perfectly. @Bill Eh? @gbtr6 Trade with confidence.

The new Charger
iamsuperdan replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Cayenne is the only reason Porsche still exists today. No SUVs or sedans means no 911, no Boxster, no 918, and no further development of sports cars. And I'm the same as you. Even though none of it makes much sense, I want a GT3 and a couple of GT3 RS. One with the Manthey Racing package. -
. A "normal" 250 GTO already sells for $25-35 mil, so something this unique? $50 mill easy.

These things are kind of growing on me. Had a chance to drive one, spent an hour in it, and they're actually pretty nice to drive. I Don't want one, but I don't hate them. Would be nice if the build quality was better. And I think they actually look pretty good with the right wrap on them. EV makes sense to me for urban use. Vegas PD vehicles would never leave the city, so a 300-400 mile range would be plenty. Edmonton Police Service run a couple of Mach-E GT. Supposedly for evaluation purposes for a wider deployment of EV. It's in actual use though, not just for events and parades.
