1977 Dodge Monaco Sport "Malaise Era Mopar"
iamsuperdan replied to ReduitRetro's topic in Model Cars
I like it! -
Something like this? https://rayskits.com/product/1969chevroletcamaroz28/ Ray's decals are amazing, but as Trevor mentioned, depending on the production schedule, you could be waiting a few months for them to arrive. According to the site, the next print run will be late October 2025. They are worth the wait though!

You're right, that is most definitely a project! BUT I can definitely see the potential there. Other than the one fender and the tail light, it looks pretty straight. Love the 90s colours. Perfect. Personally, I would clean the heck out of that car before I started any thing mechanical. I hate working on dirty vehicles, and I love detailing, so I would detail it to within an inch of it's life before tackling the mechanical. That would include full disassembly of the interior. Seats, carpets, door panels, side panels, much of the dash, center console, etc...everything out! Each piece cleaned and hit with a steamer before being reassembled. I'd also get it up on jackstands, get the wheels off, get one of those undercar attachments for a pressure washer and clean the underside and the wheel wells. Engine bay too. Carefully. Once it looks as close to showroom as possible, I'd start with Bill's advice on manually turning the engine. And if it turns, I'd pick up a new timing belt, plugs, wires, battery, all fluids, etc. All of that easily replaceable maintenance stuff. I'd wonder about the electrical. If it's been sitting that long in those trees, I'd be certain that critters have been making homes and chewing on wires.

The Mercedes kit is nice. I have a couple of those in different liveries. The kits I'm after are out there and available, a little pricy, but available. I'm hoping to find someone that wants to trade. I don't need to increase the stash. I just want to downsize it!

Corvette?

Not my taste visually, but I'm a big fan of the work that Kindig and his shop put out. It's sad to think that this car will never be driven and enjoyed on a regular basis. I mean, maybe the owner will be driving this on weekends and whatnot...but I somehow doubt it. -

If you haven't already done so, check out the documentary on Netflix. It's interesting. And scary how this one guy could make so many errors, ignore so many experts, and completely skip every recommended safety test and repair; and still be allowed to put people into his sub and go diving. What I thought was especially interesting, was that by giving the paying customers an employee title, like dive engineer or wahtever nonsesne he came up with, they could be considered crew and not passengers. Therefore, fewer regulations to follow.

Looking for Tamiya touring cars, both DTM and BTCC, to round out my collection. Ktis need to be unstarted and complete. Hoepfully with decals that aren't yellowed with age! I have around 75 kits in my trade pile. Lots of domestic subject matter, some euro, some Japanese. Some common, some rare. Will get generous for the right kits. Will definite trade multiple kits for one of the above. Want to get nuts? Will trade EVERY kit in my trade stash for all five of the above! Let me know what you've got!

Excellent! Can you post a couple of closeups of the front bumper? We had a 1986 Chevy Spectrum for a couple of years. As soon as I saw the Isuzu kit, I wondered about building it as the base model version so I could replicate the one we had.

Well, there's another zombie completed. This is Tamiya's Mazda Eunos kit. I acquired this a few years ago as part of a collection. I don't really care much about Japanese cars, so this just sat in a box for a while. Then, while perusing Cults, I came across Black Box STL's bodykit for the Eunos/Miata kit.I thought this might be something cool. I was looking for something different, and wanted some 3d printing practice, so bought the files and printed it up. Then, I glued it together, got bored, back in a box for a year or so. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I finished the body damaged Porsche 964 Turbo and needed another zombie to finish. This one jumped out. I did the usual prime, sand, repeat; then hit it with some Tamiya NATO green paint. Printed some seats and painted those in a flat red. They're a little oversized, but whatever. The wheels were included in the BlackBox kit and those are chrome with white centers. I used the kit's decals for the center caps. Whoops! One or two may not be centered. I thought about carbon decals, but really just wanted to get another one finished. Turned out okay. Looks good on the shelf. I actually enjoyed this one more than I thought I would.

Would be very cool for sure. Heck, that truck left bone stock would be very cool! However, a Miata swap would be relatively straight forward. But as others have said, the truck is heaqvier, so would the extra power a stock Miata engine has be worth the effort in the heavier platform? Now...the Miata aftermarket is plentiful, so a miata engine, with some new parts and maybe a turbo? ow you've got something awesome, and not insanely expensive. Body looks super clean on the truck. For $300, I'd probably buy it anyway.

Well, you know how I feel about this post! Here in Canada, we stopped getting VW vans of any description after the T4 generation. Here, the T4 in passenger and camper versions was known as the Eurovan. Cargo was of course the Transporter. We have the ID Buzz, but they are insanely expensive at this time. Fully load passenger version only. Would love to see a cargo version, or the shorter wheelbase version, but I don't think that will happen. I spent most of the 90s being the detailer / lot attendant at a local VW dealership while going through university. In 1992, we put a Westfalia into demo service, and for $100/wk, staff could rent it. So a buddy and did just that. Anyway, here's my old beast. 1985 Transporter: TDI swap from an '04 Jetta, regeared transmission, South African front end swap, lowered on Eibach springs, Mercedes wheels, Tristar rear windows, interior from a Vanagon. Lots of fun, but the nickel and diming got to be a headache. The engine swap was the easy bit, iot was everything else that started to fail. Electrical gremlins, leaking coolant pipes, suspension failures...everytually got fed up and sold it. Some dude from New Hampshire flew out and drove it back. And at a local VW show.

Are you asking about 3d printing kits that the model companies no longer make? If so, that's something I think just about everyone here supports.

I never got an allowance. But there was a direct correlation between the amount of housework I assisted with and how much resistance my parents gave when I asked them to buy me things. And that's how we did it with our kids. The more they helped out around the house, the more we helped them when they wanted something. Anyway, my parents bought me a lot of Hot Wheels and Matchbox back in the day. And then I discovered models.

Correct. Transactions completed through PMs are private and have nothing to do with MCM or the forum.

Nice work! I'm enjoying your line of Porsche more though.

Excellent work! Colour choices are perfect.

Welcome! Just a quick reminder that selling is not allowed on the forums. What happens in PMs us up to all of you, but For Sale posts are not allowed and will be removed.

For those that like the colour, it's actually pretty close to the actual real Mint Green used by Porsche. -
