AMT 2023 Ford Bronco Outer Banks
iamsuperdan replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I know I've got two of the First Edition. Our two local stores kept selling out. Took me a while to get mine. I think when the inevitable 4 door is released, it will be a bigger seller. Just like the real one. When I worked for a Ford dealer, the 4 door outsold the 2 door probably 10 to 1. -
What do you drive?

That is some very tight clearance! But if it fits, then all is good! -
Very cool.

Truck tire shopping

We used to run studded Nokians on my wife's Volvo XC90. They were amazing. But when it came time to replace them we went with the non-studded version of the same tire. For no particular reason. -

Nope, but I did the Rammstein truck. Was in a previous issue of the mag. Simple and fun. I liked it. -
What did you see on the road today?
iamsuperdan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As with any vehicle, if you maintain it right, and use it, don't abuse it; then it will last as long as anything else on the road. And actually, if it stays off road, it will avoid the salt and stuff on the roads in winter, so shouldn't rust as quickly. You might see more wear and tear on suspension or steering components. Depending on usage. -
I was amazed to read that he played ball for 25 years. I can't imagine any of these current professional athletes having a career that lasts well into their 40s or 50s.

Forgot to post a couple of pics. As I mentioned previously, I left Ford and have a new job. I'm now in charge of sales & marketing for Arctic Trucks in Canada. I'm actually the only employee in Canada! And I was playing with this AT44 last week. 44" tires and only a 3 inch lift from stock. My demo truck is being built now, so will have one similar living with me permanently. By way of comparison, I'm 6'6". -

What options do I have here...?
iamsuperdan replied to 花火's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know it's the clear sheets from Evergreen that I've been using. I ran out though, and haven't gone to get more. Will need to do that soon. I was concerned about the heat melting or warping the original mold/part too. So I actually have a small piece of wood that I just hold over the original part. Then, once the heat has softened the sheet of clear plastic, I quickly remove the wood, turn the heat off, turn on the suck, and drop it down. Seems to work. -

I have one of those. They work really well. -
They haven't visited here in almost a year.

Glad to see you had the sense to get checked out before something happened! So many people ignore it when they're not feeling right, and then it's too late. The docs will get you fixed up in no time. I'm guessing they'll get you into surgery pretty quick. And congrats on retirement!

The fact that's 1/24 would make me choose this over the other kits out there. 1/24 matches all of my other kits. Including my Revell F1 cars, and the ones I've 3d printed.

Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
iamsuperdan replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay, so once Tamiya applies for, and receives the permits for the propellants in the cans. and then labels the cans, then we'll be all good. Having said that, I've actually switched away from Tamiya for a few things. Did this quite some time ago. For primer, I use Duplicolor from Canadian Tire. It's available in white, light grey, dark grey, and red oxide. It's a big can, equivalent to probably 4 cans of Tamiya, but cost is equivalent to two cans of Tamiya. It works great, dries fast, can be sanded. And after testing, it's safe for 3d printing resin. Well, at least it works with the Elegoo resin. Have sprayed a few things, and after several months, no issues. I've used a lot of the Duplicolor paint too, with zero adverse affects. I'll still go back to Tamiya for paint and clear once it's available again. Or maybe this is a good excuse to switch to airbrush. -
Depends on the charging station. Going from 20% charge to 80% charge could be as low as 15 minutes, depending on whether the station is a Level 2 or Level 3. Also depends on your EV, as some have faster charging capabilities. Battery size plays a role in charge times too. Also, what a lot of people forget is that yo don't have to "fill the tank" every time you charge. A lot of people think they need to stop for an hour to charge up every time. So a 500 mile trip would now have 2 or 3 hours added to it, which simply isn't the case. While on your trip, you can stop for 10 or 15 minutes, add some juice and continue on. We travel a lot to a national park near us. It's about 350km, or about a 3.5hr drive. When we did the trip in our Mach E, we added literally 20 minutes to our trip to top off on the way. Which really didn't affect us at all, because we usually stop half way to stretch our legs and give the dog a chance to stretch and pee. As for traffic jams, the same thing happens that happens with ICE cars with low fuel. You hope you can get somewhere to charge/fuel up before you run out. Just like an ICE vehicle, you get plenty of notice with low charge. Lots of time to try and deal with it.

Oh, and a warning for all. Enjoy this thread for now, because I would guess we'll be shutting it down before too long. Right now, this is walking the line of politics...teasing a crossing of the line. If we do have to shut it down for politics, we will do so, and will issue 30 day vacations to those who can't resist crossing that line.
