  1. That's the one! Typical 70s cheese, but I dig it. lolz
  2. JI know, I know...where they're going they don't need roads... Technically, the Tesla totally serves a purpose! Normally, when testing rockets, generic weights are used to test ballast and load ability and whatnot. In this case, why not do something more fun? They needed weight, that Roadster fits the bill, and does it in a fun way that brings attention to the project. Look at how this story is everywhere! Mission accomplished! There was a movie in the 70s about the lunar landing hoax. Can't remember what it was called, but I liked it. Conspiracy theories fascinate me.
  3. True, the Tesla isn't the first car in space. However, it is a the first real street legal car in space. Pretty cool publicitiy stunt. More importantly, as a 4000lb object, it successfully did the job of testing cargo capacity of the Falcon Heavy rockets. SpaceX have proved they can send serious payloads in to space, and more importantly, safely land most of the equipment used to do it, so that it can be reused in future flights. Talk about a cost savings! How much of the equipment that got the lunar rover to the moon was reused?
  4. Rear camera, available on all but the most basic of trim levels, roughly $200 to add. Makes hooking up a trailer amazingly simple. And far less complicated that the split gate. Especially when the monitor in the dash has the guide lines on it. I have to think that the split gate if and when it becomes available, will run at least $1000 to add, much like the Ram Box setup. Honda has the dual opening tailgate on the RIdgeline. Neat idea, but I don't know anyone that has used the side opening feature. Yeah, those all bombed in a major way, but a committee still sat down, discussed, analyzed, graphed, polled, and still decided that these were the directions they should go. Not every product that gets to market is a success, but brands don't market stuff on a whim. Spending millions on a thought, without real discussion, just doesn't happen. Especially when it affects the bottom line of your biggest selling product.
  5. I realized today that I'm actually going to finish a kit tomorrow.
  6. We all have our opinions on things like this, but at the end of the day, each manufacturer has a committee devoted to this kind of stuff. They do studies and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on focus groups and research. I have to think that studies were done and this was determined to be a feasible project.
  7. Some of you may have noticed that I'm a bit of a Ram fan. Having said that, I'm not sure how I feel about this split gate idea. Honestly, I think it's kind of gimmicky. Needlessly complex and increasing costs and weight for something that I'm not sure anyone was asking for. I'm all for choice, but I for one will probably not be ordering it on any of the trucks I bring in here. It's a moot point anyway, as it's currently not in production, and won;t be for the foreseeable future. Maybe a late 2019 MY build.
  8. I was far more impressed with the trailer for the Solo movie.
  9. I think it's a pretty cool kit, and you did a great job on it!
  10. I really like this one. Very well done. I dig vans, and Stranger Things is one of the best shows on tv right now.
  11. Looks great! Would have taken me a couple of tries to get that lettering done in the correct order!
  12. Holy moly. THat is stunning.
  13. Looks great! Is that canopy scratchbuilt?
  14. Awesome! What kit did you start with on this one?
  15. I'm having this trouble the past couple of days. I can't respond to most threads in the off topic area. Community Builds and Off Topic seem to be a no go for me.
  16. Interesting. Viking Volvo, racing trailer, Range Rover, Land Rover. Those all appeal to me.
  17. I built this one when I was around 10 or so. We had a small local drug store that used to have models in the toy section. I remember nagging my mom to get me this one. I'd buy it again if it was reissued.
  18. I can see America from my house! Okay, not really, but on a clear day, I can see a lot. When the bears, mountains, hockey pucks, and mosquitoes aren't in my way.
  19. The IPF bulbs were the same wattage as the factory bulbs. It's the reflectors in the headlight that made the difference. No high watt, crazy bright nonesense for me.
  20. In my old 93 XJ, I ran the IPF replacements with their H4 replacement bulbs. Was an amazing upgrade. Huge bang for the buck. https://www.quadratec.com/products/97017_1600.htm I ran them with the IPF H4 Magic Bulbs with the green glow ring. Kind of cheesy but I liked them. LED headlights are a challenge here, as they don't generate enough heat to melt any ice or snow build up while driving.
  21. I had to google what a Probox was. That doesn't happen often! I kind of dig it! Silver is definitely the right choice for this one!
  22. Great progress, really good coverage all over. And you got some paint on the truck too!
  23. Not rreally irked by this, more disappointed. Had to terminate someone's employment today. Totally the right decision, and I don't regret making it at all, but having the actual meeting really sucks.
  24. Hmm...I like both. Black Sabbath are probably overall more influential and important in the big picture. But for me, Iron Maiden are the band that turned me in to a music nut. I remember my dad buying Powerslave on vinyl, and I made him dub a copy onto cassette for me, and I listened to it a lot, and looked at that album jacket a lot. No question for me. Up The Irons!
