  1. Thought of another one. "Scratching The Surface" - can be anything, but a significant portion of the build must be scratchbuilt. I know a lot of people here are great at scratchbuilding, but I think they are even more people who do amazing work, but don't scratchbuild anything. Then there's the mediocre builders like me, who have always wished for scratch skills! Good opportunity to "force" us to bust out the Evergreen!
  2. For those who don't understand what Gord meant to Canada... http://www.torontosun.com/2017/10/18/ahead-by-a-century
  3. Nice build! My very first car was almost a blue Citation hatchback. Ended up with a brown '78 Thunderbird instead.
  4. Truck looks great, but I'm most impressed with the trailer interior details. Haven't seen many people pull that off before.
  5. If someone did ding you, would you even notice?
  6. Wow. As a lover of wagons, and the 80s in general, I can't wait to see this one done.
  7. I'm not even sure one could figure out where to begin with a replica of that thing! Anyone have pics of the interior?
  8. Totally agree Bob! As I said, your builds are diverse, but I haven't seen you do anything like this one yet. Hopefully you like it! Great news about your mom, great to hear that she's recovering nicely. And don't worry about any delays. What you have going on there is 1000X more important than anything going on around here! But now that we know everything is looking good, you have no excuses. Now hurry up with that awesome Countach build. lolz
  9. I'm not a Ford guy, but I am a truck guy. Watching with great interest.
  10. Awesome.
  11. All of your builds are amazing, but this one is just talking to me. I love it.
  12. I like to think of all my builds as resto-mods. I think they look accurate, and I think they look good in my display case. And if others love to build and nail the details, that's cool too. I appreciate the skill, the knowledge, and the builds, even if it's not how I'd do it. Kind of like 1:1 cars. I can appreciate any modded car, because I recognize talent. So even though I'll never own a Japanese import car, I can respect the effort that goes into some of these. Same as with this goofy hobby. Because at the end of the day, it IS a hobby, and if it puts a smile on your face, then build them your way.
  13. Myself, I hate chrome. I just won't own a vehicle that has a ton of chrome. Unless it's a truck no newer than 1997 or a car older than 1980. How much does it bug me? Back in 2015, I have one of the special edition Ram 1500 Sports in Ignition Orange. Here's a pic my dealer took the day it arrived, you can see the chrome grille inserts. And then the second pic is the following day, about an hour or two after I brought it home. Chrome gone!
  14. Around here, there are just as many 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks as there are 1/2 ton trucks. Heck, I have a 2018 Ram Power wAgon (3/4 ton) on order, and spent the spring and summer driving a 2017 F350 Platinum. Heavy duty trucks are a very common sight! Anyway... I'd be into most of the fantasy kits posted here. That Ford wagon? The Greyhound? the used car? Sign me up.
  15. Mine is in there. Went with a Tamiya dark blue with black vinyl roof.
  16. If a kit has an engine, i'll build it. But I don't normally put insane amounts of time into an engine, as I don't display models with the hood up. Curbside kits have never bothered me.
  17. Jason, I'm not sure what others did, but for me, I snooped around and lookd at what Bob has built and posted aorund here. Then I looked around my stash for something I hadnt seen him build before. And then because he builds a wide variety of subjects, I said to myself, which of these do I really want to see built, and built well? I knew I didn't want to send a curbside, because I know some poeple view those as cheaper and not worth as much as full kits.I have no problem with curbsides, but some do, so I tried to avoid those. I thought I had something perfect picked, but then I was just checking out the contents and noticed the body was extremely warped. I think it can be salvaged, but I'm not going to knowingly send a damaged or flawed kit to anyone. So I pikced something else that I want to see built properly. One I hadn't seen around here from anyone. And in related news, Canada Post is busy speeding a kit to Bob (Dragline) this very instant.
  18. Well, seeing as how my new 2018 Power Wagon is indefinitely delayed for some reason, I needed something to drive. Enter the Tacoma. 2017 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Offroad in Magnetic Grey. Picked it up yesterday, only has 46km on it so far. My only complaint is that the steering wheel could do with a little more adjustment. My 6'6" frame is surprisingly comfortable in there, but a couple of extrainches in reach would be great. TO be 100% comfortable, I'd like the steering wheel an inch or so closer to me. Also, the satellite radio is XM, so that means that even though Sirius and XM have merged, I don't get my daily fix of Howard Stern. I know, first world problems. Fuel economy will be disappointing, I can already tell. Big V6, with only the old 5-speed transmission. I'm not expecting fuel economy to be any better than the half tons I've drivien over the past few years. But, the stereo is great, the bluetooth streaming is super easy to use, the heated seats get hot really fast, and it's comfy, so for now I'm happy.
  19. Isn't this a great feeling? My daughter is 10 now, and she's the only one in the house who is into this goofy hobby I have. I've had her building kits over the past year, giving her 100% control over what they look like. ANd much like your daughter, she's coming up with out of the box thinking and some crazy ideas that actually translate really well. Her last build I posted here, and it was a 56 Chev, black with neon paint splatter. She did everything except the BMF, which I did because quite frankly I need the practice. I have her working on that Revell Jeep Wrangler Rubicion right now. The paint on that one is really going to stand out, if her sketches are any indication!
  20. It's a heavy duty Ram, so definitely Mexican. I thought it might be due to the storms, but we've had no interruptions on any of our other deliveries. I have more Rams arriving over the next few weeks, and some shipped before mine, some shipped after. Those units I can still track , and can see that they are physically en route. Our FCA fleet guy is investigating. It'll all work out. And yeah, people looking at used trucks are going to have to really watch out now, especially if the truck has been registered in Texas.
  21. As an aside, because I always find this stuff interesting, here's what those stations look like now. 421 South 2nd: still a gas station, but not quite as attractive. 400 South 2nd: not a gas station. 200 Canyon Drive: I guess it's technically still a Texaco station.
  22. I've been using Mercury Adhesives medium glue, in the orange bottle. Been happy, but i t does seem to stop working effectively pretty quickly. Will try that Loctite product for sure. I've been using Loctite products for years on my cars, never thought to try it on models!
  23. I finally found a few minutes to fix the wiring issue on one of my favourite guitars. The input jack somehow had a ground wire that loosened over the past few years. Soldered that back, and the beast is back up and running perfectly. FIrst time to play this guitar through my new setup. Just added a Tech21 RK5 effects pedal, replacing the big multi-effects unit I had been running. It's an overdrive, amp simulator, and delay. So far, so good. Loving it.
  24. Concert tickets: I bought tickets for Roger Waters last fall. The show is next week. Bought them over a year before the actual show. In Edmonton, this has been the year of the concert, and wifey is somewhat annoyed at how much we've spent on concerts. It seems like every time I grab tickets for something, the next day something just as good goes on sale. Part fo the reasoning is that we have a new arena here in town, and there's a real push to get every tour on the planet to come here. Appears to be working! Plus other big name acts are touring, and Edmonton seems to be on the list. Anyway, what irked me? My new truck (2018 Ram Power Wagon) shipped two weeks ago. I have the factory invoice, a ship date, and an ETA. Found out yesterday afternoon, that the ship date was changed to "to be determined" and that the truck hasn't actually left the factory yet. Trying to reach out to the fleet guys at FCA to find out what the deal is. Frustrating. How does a truck ship, get put into an "on rail" status, then suddenly it's back at the factory? Makes no sense. I hope it's not a damage issue.
  25. Actually, a lot of restaurants here have screens at the urinals. Sometimes they play ads, but most of the time, they'll be on an Oilers game. Or some other hockey game. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Better than staring at the wall. Haven't seen a gas pump tv though. I'm pretty good at tuning stuff out/daydreaming though, so I can't see how this would bother me.
