  1. I think the patina looks about perfect! In fact, I'd redo the hood and hatch to match the rest of the body. Still, I like it.
  2. Too bad it's a p'shop, because that's a good looking car.
  3. Now that is a sharp build! I think you nailed the rear track width.
  4. i've seen built kits like this on EBay, and have passed because they just look like junk. This is inspiring to see what can be done with these built up EBay junkers! Yours already looks 100X better, even without being finished.
  5. I need some of these pens. Need to find a Canadian supplier! Scout is looking good. I've wanted a Scout kit for a while now.
  6. One of our vendors showed up today in one of his toys. It's not mint, but it's decent, and it's a heck of a lot of fun to drive. Not in terms of speed or handling; in both cases it's kind fo weak. I'm talking in terms of noise and attention value! This goofy car can't help but make you smile. Especially when doing burnouts. Although, I gave him heck for not wearing a cowboy hat while driving it. I told him that was mandatory. Anyway, it's a 1979, has had a repaint, but is otherwise all original.
  7. Agreed. That green one is especially sharp!
  8. Watching this one! Engine looks good so far. I have the Revell reissue on the bench. Doing a 16V swap and adding some wheels from Clearly Scale. Then at some point I have the Cabrio and an old ESCI GTI to do as well. Yes, I like water cooled VW!
  9. Well, unsuccessful. WD40 did not remove the offending residue. I'm not planning on working the windhsield any further, as it's already starting to cloud up a little. I have an idea though.
  10. When I first saw the title, I said to myself "I hope he painted it that purple colour that all the Ford Flare's seemed to be painted in." And I was not disappointed! Good looking build.
  11. Always liked this generation of Lightning. I knew this kit existed, but can't say I've ever seen one completed.
  12. Your attention to detail is amazing. I'm super impressed with your builds.
  13. Excellent! I love the newest Z28, and that TK looks really, really good. I had no idea that resin can shrink. I haven't worked with it much, but will watch for that with the parts I have now Looking forward to more updates.
  14. THey're definitely on the backside, facing the interior. I can feel them when I run my finger over them. Heading out there now, will report back in the monring. Fingers crossed. If unsuccessful, I'll just have to get creative.
  15. I dig it! Perfect wheels for that kit!
  16. That's a pretty neat build. Nicely done!
  17. Hmm...I kind of dig it. Maybe not in that teal/gold colour scheme, but I dig it. And look at this interior! The radio with the needles? Take my money now.
  18. THanks guys! Heading out to the bench later this evening to have another go at it.
  19. I know this is an acient thread, but I felt compelled to comment. These old show cars always fascinate me. Whatever happened to all of the cars featured in magazines like Hot Rod and Car Craft? I'd love to see an issue dedicated to these former stars. It brings up questions though. If this Steve Scott guy is so gung ho about this car and preserving the legacy or whatever, why not show the car? And if he doesn;t have it anymore, why not? If the car was that special to him, why get rid of it? Makes zero sense to me. Anyway, at the end of the day, I think this particular car is fugly and I would have zero interest in a kit. But the story of these things really does interest me.
  20. Yes, I tried both the Tamiya modelling compund and a Meguair's cutting wax I use on my 1:1. Neither did a thing. Deoderant, eh? Hmm...would never have thought of that, will give it a try. Actually, will have to find some, as I'm pretty sure it's all pitstick in our house! Thanks! Dan
  21. Despite your issues, that is turning out awesome. You're doing an great job so far.
  22. I have a dilemma! I am in the final stages of an old Tamiya BMW Z3 kit. I masked the windshield to paint the edges. I used Tamiya masking tape around the edges, and a wide 3M green masking tape in the middle of the windshield. I've done this before on other kits wth no ill-effects. However, on this one, the tape left some residue in the middle of the windshield. So far, I have tried Tamiya polishing compound, a Meguiar's polishing compound, rubbing alcohol, soap/water, and was very carefully trying a solvent remover. Nothing has worked so far. I don't want to go too nuts, as it is clear plastic, and I fear that too much rubbing might cloud it or scratch it. Any thoughts? THanks!
  23. Wow. You nailed the stance on this one. Excellent build.
