Colour is fantastic, and that is definitely the right direction for the wheels! Makes me want to bust out the one I have in the stash.

Looks like most of the pics are dead in that link. Good info though. I'll get some pics posted up for sure though.

Yeah, I have the MPC DOH Dodge on the bench right now. Lots of differences between these two kits! i might do them both at the same time and do a direct comparison post on these. Growing up, we had a 77 Fury sedan, a 78 Fury Sport Suburban wagon, and a 68 Fury III convertible; all at the same time. Learned to drive on the wagon. These cars hold a special place in my heart for sure.

Remote starter, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and a nuclear meltdown level heater. That's what pleased me this morning.

Dodge Monaco to Plymouth Fury parts?
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Having just acquired a Yodel Fury, I can say without a doubt that it would be either a 77 or 78 model. The 76 definitely had round headlights, and in 79 it no longer existed. -
I still love this generation, and have been looking for a 1:1 for a while now. I need a new toy/project! No idea what engine it had. I remember it sounded angry. Our wagon was the full jam model, and had the biggest you could get at the time according to my dad. I'm guessing that means either a 383 or a 440? Not really sure. I do remember our 68 Fury III had the 318, because the hood emblem had 318 on it. The 77 sedan definitely sounded louder and angrier than that 68. If I found the VIN, is there some kind of a VIN decoder or website where I could find out the exact optioning it had? That would be interesting to me. The clear lenses and grille came from Shapeways. If you look in the resin section, there's a thread near the top all about the resin grilles and lights.

Finally got some snow today! It's not the 15cm that was being called for, but we got snow. First snow since early November. ANd it's cold and windy. So of course, now that it looks like winter, I took the plow truck I had built back in September and parked it in the prime display location, in hopes that we might get someone interested. Lo and behold, two walk in clients today on that truck. So today, winter does not bother me at all.

New! Improved! '69 Charger Glue Bomb Resto/Rescue New Pics 2/12
iamsuperdan replied to Snake45's topic in Model Cars
Turned out really nice! I need to look more closely when I see these built "junk" kits are garage sales and stuff. You've proved they can be easily turned into something shelf worthy! -
I'm still not sure if these flat earthers are just trolling, or if they legitimately believe it. I really hope it's the former.

Dodge Monaco to Plymouth Fury parts?
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That turned out great! If you check the "On The Bench" section, I've started my build. -
Whoa! Even has the same "mistake" on the back of the vinyl roof. That's wild that two people chose pretty much the exact same colour, on what I believe is a fairly oddball and rare kit! If your kit has a baby blue exhaust, I'm pretty sure I'll literally fall out of my chair!

WHoa! Very nice, VERY realistic looking! Excellent work.

Yeah, I'm waiting to luck out on one that's cheap. FOund one offered here that I should have snagged. Ah well.

Started this one up a couple of days ago. I've been a huge fan of those massive late 70s cars for years. I chalk it up to growing up around them, and learning to drive on them. For a good chunk of the 80s, our garage had a 1977 Plymouth Fury sedan, a 1978 Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban wagon, as well as a 1968 Plymouth Fury III convertible. Before that, we had a 1973 AMC Matador and a 1967 ( I think) Mercury Comet Cyclone. I learned to drive o nthe Fury wagon, and my first car in 1990 was a 1978 Ford Thunderbird. So big cars have always had a place in my heart. And that brings me to this build. I'm turning the Dukes Of Hazzard polkice car into our 1977 Plymouth Fury. Thatnks to some info on this forum, I found a couple of resin grille options to choose from, plus I have a few sets of wheels that will be more suited to a proper build, and don't look like they belong on a clown car. If you have this kit, you'll know what I mean! Here's what I'm going for. So far, I've modifed the body to accept the Fury grille, and have started basic assembly of the engine. Chrome sprue is sitting in the purple bath right now, so engine assembly will continue tonight once that is rinsed and dried.

So I'm putting this one here, even though I didn't build it. My dad has always been more of a plane and boat builder. To this day, he's still only ever built two cars. And I have them both. He built this AMC Matador, as a very loose interpretation of the Matador we had throughout the 70s. Bought the car in I believe 1974, not sure if it was a new '73 model or '74 model. Forgot to ask dad for clarification. I remember many summer vacations driving out to Lakair Lodge in Ontario with the canoe on the roof. When we moved across the country from Mississauga to Edmonton, the Matador came with us. Would love to have this car back. Anyway, here's dad's build. It's a little...unique. Not sure what he was thinking with the colours. I chalk it up to being a build done in the 70s, and who knows what was going on back then. It appears to be entirely brush painted and is pretty much complete. I did have to glue the front wheels back on, as bot hhad been broken off at some time. At some point, the original grille went missing. I forget your name, but if the guy who sent me the Matador grille from the race kit sees this, thank you! Until I find a roadcar version, this will give me a complete kit. Now, I am searching for an unbuilt Matador X roadcar kit to build up as my own replica of our old car. If anyway has one they're looking to trade, please PM me! Thanks!

Somebody get Me A Doctor, that one is On Fire. Everybody Wants Some! You'd be Runnin' With The Devil when you rolled up on the Mean Street. I mean, When Push Comes To Shove, that build is Unchained. I could go on and on with this. Love Van Halen. LOVE them.

Reg cab with Eco Boost. And 2WD? That is a very rare truck around here. Finding an F150 in 2WD or with reg cab just doesn't happen here. Actually, finding anything in 2WD around here is a challenge. So our weird winter continues here in western Canada. Up until about Dec 22 or so, we really did't have any winter yet! We had a little but of snow back in early November, and a very breif perios where it hit -10 celcius, but that's about it. The Christmas break hit, and we got our freezing temps. With windchill, we were around -45 celcius. On New Year's Eve, windchill was -48. Then on Jan2, I drove to work and it was plus 3, where it's been sitting ever since. But this morning, we apparently have a snowfall warning. So it's January and we finally get our first snowfall warning of the season. It's only -1 right now, so we'll see.

I haven't started mine yet, but I did it down over the weekend and look at my box of parts to start mapping out the build. unfortunately, plan A won't work the way I want it to. My plan was to put the diesel inline-6 from a Peterbilt into my C1500 chassis. But it doesn't look like I'll be able to stuff that engine into the engine bay. So I'm going to focus on plan B, and will get some pics up soon. I'll probably start a seperate thread for the build.

From what I understand, you could build a new Aventador if you wanted, provided the detailing and customizing gave it the spirit of the 80s/90s. Slow progress on mine, but it's coming along. I've updated my thread in the "on the bench" section.

CBP: Radwood 2018 - AMG Mercedes 500SL
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Project glacier speed continues! At least that's how fast it feels sometimes. I even created a Radwood friendly 80s mix on Spotify to get me in the right frame of mind. Anyway, most of my progress has been the painting of parts, with very little assembly done so far. It's tough to get real progress when you can't spray due to weather. So right now, all of the suspension, exhaust, engine, and brake components are painted. I've also started on the interior, which is something I can comeplete without use of spraying. Here's the half-finished engine, with no weathering or final detailing done. i'll try and make the next update a little more exciting! -
Chevrolet Van/Medium Duty Chassis Cab
iamsuperdan replied to Fabrux's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Itasca was a very common RV. At least it was around here. I beleive they were part of the Winnebago group. Maybe their entry level offering? The version pictured is definitely based on the GM HD van chassis, and obviously uses the basic cab structure. Nose is fibreglass with a pseudo-GM grille. They used very GM-like grilles and headlights on their class A motorhomes in the 70s too. I think like most RV manufacturers, they switched to Ford based chassis at some point in the mid-80s. -

Chevrolet Van/Medium Duty Chassis Cab
iamsuperdan replied to Fabrux's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are you referring to the medium duty GMC Topkick and Chev Kodiak? Depending on the generation, they used either a C/K cab or a full size van cab, plus a full fibreglass tilt front. I've seen these as motorhomes quite a bit. -
Revell VW Rabbit - Clearly Scale Engine
iamsuperdan replied to Erik Smith's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Rabbit I have in the "stalled" pile also has the Clearly Scale 16V, plus a set of his Ronal wheels. I've got a bunch of Jeremy's parts for a few builds, and the quality has always been great. Looking forward to seeing this done. Love the colour choice.
