Two out of three! The single pickup is a very early Rave. Yeah, the bargain basement model, but had the same neck as the Platinums, and the body is virtually identical to the ST. BC Rich is my go to brand. Not including these, I have eight of them, including a Gunslinger. -

This is what 's on my bench right now. Three on the go, very early stages of the rebuild process right now. All three are late 80s BC Rich Platinum series guitars. Very underappreciated, and as such are somewhat inexpensive now. All will be stripped to the wood. Luckily, no major dings or dents to fill in any of the bodies. The reverse headstock neck is kind of a unicorn/holy grail, so that one is getting extra attention. Will be refretting that one and replacing the markers with Luminlay. I think it will be going on the white body -

www.stewmac.com have taken a lot of my money! And they have all the tools one would need to measure and do their own frets. I ordered the fret tool kit recently, as I have some guitars on the bench that I want to practice refretting on. -

You're doing a terrific job on a horrible kit! I'm working on this kit too, and it's fought me every step of the way. Nothing fits right. -

Grabber Blue is the best colour on these! -

This is my new daily driver. 2017 Ram Power Wagon. Yes, I swap out trucks fairly often. I'm really liking this one though. The ride quality is probably the best I've experienced in a heavy duty truck. The suspension is completely reworked from the standard Ram 2500, and the improvement in ride quality is massive. Fuel economy from the 6.4L Hemi isn't bad either, even when towing. Haven't used the winch yet, but I'm looking for an excuse! And over the weekend I got my "project" truck up and running. 1997 Chev K1500 Silverado. I parked it for the winter, so hasn't been started or touched since October. Put a new battery in, checked the fluids (which were all fine), adjusted tire pressure. Started up immediately with zero hesitation. Was actually surprised at how quick it started and how smooth it ran. Time to start figuring out what the plan will be. Need to start some minor body work and take care of the rust bubbles before they become serious. Needs tires, needs a better stereo! -
Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
iamsuperdan replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I never knew Harry, and only had minimal interaction with him, but he seemed like a solid guy. And even though we rarely spoke directly, I think we all kind of got to know him a little, just through his contributions around here. My condolences to his family and friends. -
Real estate...sort of
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I travel to that area a few times throughout the year. Both for work and for pleasure. Beautiful. Will have to remember to swing through here, see if he'll let me wander around with a camera. -
I can honestly say this is the first time I've ever wanted to dabble in real estate. http://www.century21.ca/hudson.purba/Property/BC/V0E_2X2/Tappen/4164_Eldon_Frontage_Road I see at least a dozen cars there I would love to get my hands on. And for the mathematically challenged, 1.45 million CDN is about $1.08 million US. Anyone want to go halfsies?

RC vs reality
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been drooling over the Tamiya RC semi trucks for a while now. Would love one of those. And RC4WD does a really amazing Land Rover Defender kit. -
Tamiya vs Toyota. Thought this was interesting. There are a few videos in the series, comparing Tamiya RC to the new Toyota Hilux.

What irked me yesterday? Being a professional irked me. I sometimes wish that I could take the low road and out someone for their nonsense. I run the leasing division of our company. We have about 4000 vehicles out on lease right now, out of our total fleet size of about 14000. We have a customer that has had credit and payment issues over the past 18 months. Eight NSFs, they moved and gave us a fake address, we had to switch them to credit card payment, and it's been a constant fight with them to receive payment in the month it's due. They haven't made a lease payment since November, so after repeated warnings, we repossessed their truck in February. Now the husband (who is not on any of the lease contracts) is calling and yelling/complaining that "out of nowhere" we took their truck, and that we have to give it back. Due to privacy laws, we cannot discuss the lease or details with him because he is not on the lease contracts, only his wife is, but she will not talk to us. So the more he calls, the angrier he gets. Now he's taken to one of our social media pages to complain about how we stole his truck and are just a greedy corporation that works outside the law. Our marketing department is doing a very good job of explaining our position, in a firm yet professional way. However, I would love to post all of the issues we've had over the past 18 months and see how he responds to that. The email chains, the phone calls, etc. Call him out on their actions. Unfortunately, we're grownups, we're professionals, and we just can't stoop to that level. Being a grownup sucks sometimes! On a related note, if anyone wants a clean 2013 Ram 1500 Sport quadcab, full load with low km, let me know. lolz

Here's the first guitar I did a rebuild on. This was a $40 EBay find. I believe a mid-late 90s Kramer FR404SD. I bought it as a parts guitar, had no electronics, mismatched tuners, a gross Floyd Rose,l and a damaged body. As i stripped it and gutted it, I discovered it was actually a neck through, and in very nice condition! Here's what I did: Stripped it to the wood Levelled the frets (probably should have replaced them, but whatever) Shaved the neck for a flatter profile, especially near the body Dyed the rosewood fingerboard to an Ebony hue 3M body filler, sanded smooth Duplicolour paint - Jaguar French Racing Blue Rebuilt the trem, with new tuning screws, new saddle blocks, FU-Tone Brass L big block FU-Tone HD noiseless springs Tremstopper Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon in the bridge Seymour Duncan Custom 5 in the neck. Yes, a bridge pickup in the neck position Schaller tuners new pots, knobs, jack, straplocks, etc Copper shielding Carbon fiber cavity covers A lot of places I could improve, but overall I'm happy with the outcome. -

The Explorer has always been my favourite body shape, but I've never been able to convince myself to buy one, as I just can't get used to Gibson necks. At some point though, I'm sure I'll cave! I love the Superstrat! I have two "simple" guitars, with one humbucker and a volume knob, and sometimes that's all you need. Quite often, when sitting in the basement and relaxing, those are the guitars I'll reach for. -
Very nicely done! Excellent job on the little details like the rag gas cap.

That looks awesome! Almost looks like the rare rosewood Strats that Fender did. -

Not my style, but I kind of dig it. It has a BC Rich vibe, and that's been my go to brand for years now. How's he going to finish that one? Solid colour or a translucent finish of some kind? -
I know there's a few of us here that build and play guitar. I for one, would like to see your projects! Here's one I finished a year or so ago. Started life as a destroyed EBay find. The body is original mid-90s American Stratocaster. The original neck was unsalvageable, so I ordered a new one from Warmoth. Has the SRV neck profile, but I ended up shaving it down slightly to make the profile more comfortable for my tastes. Has stainless steel fretwire and actual stone inlays. In hindsight, I would have skipped the 24 fret conversion, as that made the neck pickup position unusable. I stripped the body (was originally black,) filled the dings and dents, and rerouted for dual humbuckers and a Floyd Rose trem. The respray is Seafoam Green. The trem is a Floyd Rose Special, with upgraded brass L big block and HD noiseless springs from FU-Tone. Pickups are the EMG Zakk Wylde set. Strung up with D'Addario EXL140 strings. She plays beautifully and sounds amazing.

That's pretty awesome! DO you know what pickups it has? The single coils appear to be Seymour Duncans, just wondering what type. I love Warmoth parts. I used one of their necks on a Strat re-build I did a year or so ago. One of the hobbies I don't have time for is rebuilding and hotrodding guitars. I buy a hurting example off of Kijiji or EBay, then gut it, strip it, and completely redo it. I bought a mid-90s US Stratocaster that had seen better days. Turns out, the neck was completely gone and unsalvageable. Warmoth to the rescue! I was going to post a pic here and partially hijack your thread, but I think I'll start my own thread tomorrow. In other news, watch for a PM shortly.

Looks really good. Your tub job turned out really well, looks like it was molded that way. Although...somewhere around here, I'm sure there's someone who's brain melted just a little seeing a Hemi stuffed into a GM product! I can just picture them vibrating over their keyboard, resisting the urge to have an e-freak! lolz Now do another one that defies convention!

Did you modify the grille from a Silverado/Sierra kit to make the grille? -
My dad still has all of his old gear from over the years; 70s, 80s, and beyond. The reel-to-reel and record player are still set up and connected, but I haven't seen the R2R used in quite some time. I've still got all of my stereo stuff. Most of what I bought is mid-90s, but I still have some late-80s Sony gear that was hand me down from my dad. I'll be honest though, usually I just stream the music I hive in iTunes or Spotify from the computer over the Sonos, or I listen to satellite radio. I don't use the CD player or cassette player that much.
