  1. 1. Lawn maintenance 2. Landscaping. This is apparently the year we add trees and shrubbery to the backyard. And some additional stonework and shrubs in the front yard. 3. Weather and activities. With the nice weather here, we're out in the evenings doing outdoors stuff. Hiking, walking, riding the bikes, etc. 4. Weather and lounging. Summer evenings, firepit. No need to expand on that. 5. Vacation. Taking off for two weeks. 6. Band practice. The band is back in action and we practice semi-regularly now. Plus I practice/noodle at least an hour every day. Model building is simply one of the many hobbies I don't seem to have enough time for! But I make time when I can.
  2. We've never had a bird issue here before. The odd magpie or crow, but never anything else. We have a major gopher infestation on the front lawn though, so it was only a matter of time before the birds of prey rolled in. Especially considering that our resident coyote hasn't been around for a while. No sign of the flying poop demon so far today.
  3. Thanks guys. When we got married, my wife was driving a 1991 2Wd. Should never have sold it. Detailing cars at the local VW/Porsche/BMW dealerships put me through university, so before long, this thing will get detailed to within an inch of its life. Looking as close to new as possible. Then the mods begin.
  4. Not today, but yesterday, mother nature and her birds irked me. Here's my Tahoe. And what happens when a hawk or falcon or pterodactyl or whatever has a steady diet of gophers. This is one bird, one dump. You can see the little bugger sitting on top of that lightpost.
  5. Picked this beast up. 1998 Chev K1500. Needs a bit of work to get it where I want it, but could pass it up. Always loved this body style. First task, get rid of that Mossy Oak sticker. No redneck garbage on my truck! The ultimate plan will be to turn this into a camping/expedition vehicle.
  6. The hood being ajar just adds to the authenticity! Keep that hood ajar, makes it easier to get in there when it breaks down!
  7. I'm almost finished this one too. Lots of thoughts about the kit itself. Really like how yours turned out.
  8. Colouring is just about perfect. Would love this in a 1:1.
  9. I've tried sourcing Alclad locally, but there appears to be only one store that I've found who carries it. And they seem to be out every time I go in. I've heard that there is a spray version that doesn't require an airbrush, which I would honestly prefer, but I've spoken with hobby stores in both Edmonton and Calgary, and neither have been able to get it. Something to do with VOC content and Canadian import regulations or something. Apparently they're working on it. Haven't touched the truck much over the past week or so. Need to get cracking on it before the kiddies are done with school. Oh snap, that's next Tuesday!
  10. Interior is really well done. I like that you went with something other than red.
  11. Completely ridiculous...yet highly amusing. Awesome!
  12. Hee hee...that's the one I have listed. I knew these were a nice kit, but Corvettes traditionally just aren't my thing. If I can't find a home for it, I'll probably end up building it. Or using the parts to restomod something.
  13. Just go buy some Lego and start playing anyway! Build a few trucks and stuff, and whenever he comes over (even at 18 months) he can play too. Shouldn't take long to find some common ground. And then you make sure you buy yourself some of the advanced Technics sets or Star Wars sets for yourself. Just because.
  14. At that age, kids are like puppies. They have one or two things that really excite them, and they just want to keep doing it over and over. And they crave constant attention and approval from others. And as the adults, that's our job. We just have to be the grownups and suck it up and put in our time. Heck, I have my own kids, and there were times I felt that way. There are still times when I have no interest in doing certain things with them. But as I dad, I know what I signed up for when wifey and I decided to get going with having a family. He's not quite there yet, but what better excuse to sit on the floor with a few tons of Lego and just build stuff! Or to sit there and play with Hot Wheels cars or toss a ball around. After the stresses of a day at work, or a crappy work week, sometimes it felt (feels) great to get home, put on the pjs, turn the brain off, and play with toys for an hour. If you're not a fan of kids, that's totally fine, but as I see it, you have two choices here. Option A is to come clean with your sister and tell you need to take it really slow. THat you'll be there, but in small doses only for now. Option B is to suck it up and develop the relationship early.
  15. Clearly Scale has a jet ski available. Pics are on the facebook page, but not the website.
  16. I see this kind of thing all the time. The truck box rusts and rots away to nothing, so an owner grabs a box of some kind from a wrecking yard. Not my taste, but it somehow works. I really like the paint finish on the cab. Do you know if both kits you used were 1/25? The truck box does look like a different scale, looks physically larger. Or maybe that's just the difference from a 60s truck to a 90s truck. Vehicles are definitely getting bigger, so that could be it too.
  17. I actually wanted the longbox for the idea I have! So I'm determined to make this work.Won't need the gate to open, so I might just shave it down and glue it shut.
  18. As a huge fan of water cooled VWs, I approve. I'll echo what everyone else has said. Awesome build, amazing photos!
  19. I have the AMT 1978 Ford truck kit. This one comes with the square headlights. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket source to convert to the slightly older round headlights? Has there ever been produced with those round headlights? Thanks!
  20. In a slump with my BRBO truck, and some of the other builds, so I grabbed this one and want to put together what is hopefully a quick build. Will not be built box stock. There's a definite theme to this one, will see if my scratchbuilding skills are good enough to keep me happy with the results. The kit itself is kind of terrible. This is a prime example of why kits shouldn't be reissued unless they can be done right. The flash, sink marks, mold lines, etc are horrible. I've assembled the truck's box, and have done the basic assembly on the engine & trans, axles, etc. The truck box doesn't fit together very well, and I found that the passenger side inner box is a little longer than the other side. What this means is that the tailgate may not close flush. I think that's an easy fix though.
  21. Thanks for the warning! I haven`t mounted the tanks yet, but that`s coming soon. To be honest I got tired of working on the frame, engine and whatnot, so started messing with the interior. Pics soon.
  22. After paying out the final 4 years on our mortgage and enjoying being 100% debt-free, I'd immediately go out and buy a nice acreage. And I'd build an airplane hangar that would serve as my garage, and would of course have my own lounge and hang out area, including a stage an PA for my band. As for vehicles...I wouldn't go too nuts. 1992 Porsche 964 RS 1992 VW Transporter Syncro Doka 1969 Charger Daytona 1975/76 Ford Falcon XB GT - Mad Max replica Plus some daily drivers for my wife and I. She wants a new Volvo XC90 to replace her older XC90. I'd have a new Ram truck of some kind. And a new Aston Martin Vanquish. And then I'd spend a lot more time buying guitars.
  23. Starsky does not look impressed with being there.
