  1. I'm going to try to remember to take pics next time I sit to work on this. Trailer is pretty much done. Just need to add the marker lights and apply decals. I'm not a fan of how the Moebius trailer went together, but I'm not sure how they could improve it. Lining up the panels and getting everything to fit square and tight was frustrating. Ending up rigging up braces within the trailer to hold walls in place, tight against the roof. I think I mentioned it before, but half of the tabs were broken off of the walls, so getting it to stay in place was difficult. End result looks great though, and I guess that's what matters. Still working on cab details. Once those are added, it will be decals, then clear, then final assembly.
  2. Personally, I overprice everything I sell on Ebay or Kijiji. Not to the extent that guy does though. And quite often, people will pay my asking price. Which I enjoy very much. Mainly due to dealings on Kijiji. No matter what I price something at, the offers are crazy low. I put a guitar on for $500 and want to get $350 out of it. Then get offers of $100.
  3. Pretty stoked that this arrived today. Been looking for one for a while that wasn't ridiculously overpriced. Found this on Ebay, brand new, unopened packaging.
  4. Got back from an extended weekend away...sans kids. Wifey and I celebrating our 16th anniversary, so bombed off to Jasper National Park for the weekend. Weather was perfect, and was able to stretch the legs on the new truck.
  5. Got the trailer assembled last night. Fitting all of the sides together was a pain. Half of the tabs on the box sides were broken off, so trying to line everything up was interesting. Had to create some extra internal bracing out of old sprues to kind of hold things in place. It's sealed up, so no one will ever see that. Just needs the wheel/suspension assembly mounted and the final detailing, then the trailer is a wrap. On the cab, the interior is fully assembled now. All that's left to be done is final detailing on the cab, then mounting the completed cab on the chassis. Almost done! Yay!
  6. Yeah, I had an idea that involved some cargo. I've since looked it over, and my fab skills aren't to the point where I would be happy with the results, so I'm not going to worry about it right now. Unless of course I'm overthinking this one big time. Possibly on the next one. The image I'm using for decals is really high res. I've printed both big and small versions, and graphics quality is perfect in both cases.
  7. Just finalized plans for my new building. I run the leasing division for one of Canada's larger vehicle lease/rental/sales companies. We've simply outgrown the existing space, so after much back and forth, we've finally secured a location and a remodel design. Demolition starts next week, and we'll be moving in to the new space in late-September. My lease department as well as our fleet management department will be taking over a nice building a few mionutes from corporate HQ where I am now. Triple the parking for our vehicles, double the office space. It's going to be great.
  8. I typically won't eat fast food, but there is a local exception. Jack's Drive In is a local institution that has amazing stuff. One of the oldest restaurants in the area, always been a small locally owned business, never tried to grow beyond their means and thus lose the charm that makes it what it is. Always a good place to watch for interesting cars in the parking lot. The hot rod and muscle car guys always end up here in the evenings or on weekends. http://www.jacksdrivein.ca/
  9. Anyone have any tips for opening the back doors on a Moebius 53ft box trailer? I kind of want them open for the idea I've got. But it's not the end of the world if I don't figure it out. I've been making decals the past couple of nights. Truck decals are ready. I still need to work out the correct sizing in my brain for the trailer decals. Do I want large to cover the entire side? Or do I want more subtle?
  10. I love movie cars. I have the MPC version in my stash. Can I ask where you got the scanner for it? Sounds like a must have for any of these builds!
  11. Thanks for that! The quality is definitely not on par with Tamiya, and the plastic seems quite a bit thinner. Still, for what I paid, It might build up okay. At the very least, I'll have an extra set of wheels, a V12 engine, and a body to practice technique on!
  12. Still working away at this one. Interior mostly done. Basically just final assembly now. And the trailer of course.
  13. The other kit I found is this old school, still in the plastic MPC Corvette. Gotta love the 80s!
  14. Haven't had a chance to post these yet. Was on vacation for a few weeks, and much to my wife's joy (yes, that was sarcasm) I found a place selling kits! If you're ever on Vancouver Island, look up Jake's DIecast in Coombs. He doesn't have a ton, but what he does have is interesting, and he's open to searching for you. Anyway, the more interesting of the two kits is this. Mercedes 600SEL from Lee Models. I still need to do some internet researching, but this appears to be a rebranded Tamiya kit. The artwork is very Tamiya-like, and the instructions clearly reference Tamiya paints. Not sure how rare this is, but I find it interesting.
  15. Although I don't personally like the finished look, your paint technique is fantastic. Your skills are bang on. Looking forward to seeing a less busy finish on future builds.
  16. I like this idea.
  17. Love this kit. Have one in the stash, will most likely add one of the reissues.
  18. Been away for a couple of weeks, in an area with almost zero cell coverage or internet access. It's been glorious! I'm back, recharged, and will be cracking this thing out soon enough.
  19. Look at the side of the car on the box. They spelled Porsche wrong. Looking forward to seeing this "Porsce" finished!
  20. I really like this one. Nicely done!
  21. Looking fantastic.
  22. This one was the Dirty Donny Vantasy kit, but I knew from the start i wouldn't be using any of that custom stuff. I just wanted a plain white work van. I think this kit is another case of a manufacturer rushing a release, and not trying to make it better. The flashing on the parts were ridiculous. Spent more time sanding and smoothing that I have on most other kits. I also didn't like how the engine fit into the front. Kind of a moot point though, as you can;t see any of the engine when the kit is done. So I'll be honest, I totally half-assed the top half of the engine. I'm not even sure I painted the air filter or installed a battery. Also, I had a heck of a time trying to paint that front grille. For whatever reason, it was just a nightmare for me. The fit of the rear axle was bad too. As I do with most kits, I mount the wheels last. Not sure why I do this. Anyway, the rear wheels were not centered. I tried flipping the rear springs, as the instructions were vague as to what direction to mount them, but that didn't work with either. So I ended up cutting off the mounting points and just positioning the axle wherever I could to make it centered. Had to add a few mm of styrene to the driveshaft so it would still fit. Body is actually Tamiya white fine primer, with Tamiya clear gloss over it. Gave the van that sort of grungy, not quite pristine finish work vans should have. I know there are no mirrors or windshield wipers on there. I'm not happy with the ones that came with the kit, so I'm coming up with another solution for those. Will update pics when I have those mounted. In the meantime, I'm staying away from these reissues of old tooling kits. Between this one and the Ford truck I'm working on, I'm just not happy. Takes the fun out of the build for me when I have to fight with the kit due to flashing, poor instructions, poor fit, etc. Not my best finish, but I'm reasonably happy with it.
  23. Depends on what mood I'm in. If it's in the evening, I prefer something a little more mellow, something to relax me. Portishead or Pink Floyd are two common choices. If it's the middle of the afternoon, Volbeat or may some Howard Stern on satellite are pretty common choices.
