  10. RAF Sculthorpe, 1957-1961 , 5th through 8th grade. My Dad was the commissary officer. The BX had models mostly around Christmas time. I remember the AMT Trophy series.I went for the more flashy Monogram Long John dragster kit, motorized of course.
  11. Thirteen years, that's a long time. Not nearly as long as I've been in this hobby. Let's see, started building with my Dad's help back around 1955. Didn't get into cars until 1962. This being my 10,000 post I thought I'd say a few things here. I taught high school auto mechanics for several years in the early eighties before they decided to eliminate the Industrial arts program, computers you know. I had a model car club for the students and thought maybe this would be something adults would like too. Four of us got together and started the Moonlight Modelers here in Phoenix about this time. Life , 3 grandchildren, this confounded covid19, have all contributed to slowing things down. I'm still building, hey 48 years building my stash, I've got a few kits to build. But here we are stuck on the internet with all of our club meetings, swap meets and shows closed down. I lived in England as a teen and learned one thing, " Stiff upper lip ol" boy, keep calm and carry on." Thank you for listening and watch for my latest build, an AMT '41 Plymouth flip front HEMI Gasser.
  12. Jigsaw puzzles I've worked on these for a few years, mostly car oriented, enjoy
  13. But Abby's gone from the show now. Too late
  14. Yes, i've done that twice. First one was the Corvette Grandsport, thank you Accurate Miniatures. Next was the Ford 427 Thunderbolt. thanks Revell
  15. I'd just like to see them get this one done and on the shelves.
  16. At close to $200 the Franzis' 289 better be a little more than the old Renwall / Revell Visible V8
  17. Very well done Stuart. This is a kit that's been around for a long time. It's also the only game in town for a Tee Bucket in 1/16th scale.. Scrounging the the right parts, a little harder in 1/16th scale, and there are all kinds of variations you can come up with as Stuart has shone us. Thanks
  18. Great tip Rich, thanks for sharing
  19. Something else to consider might be the thickness of the paint. at any rate test fitting is a must
  20. what is the demarcation between old and modern ?
