  1. Why the BIG opening and then most of it is blocked off ?
  2. That's the point. Just about every factory is putting out something with the pit stripes, fender stripes, what ever they're called.
  3. I'm talking something significant, bring back something from the dead.
  4. I guess I just wonder why we don't see more of it?
  5. "and the funny thing is that my Buick doesn't have them! " on ebay right now.
  6. Let's clear this up right away. Portholes ? http://www.buickpartsdirectory.com/portholes.htm Ventiports ? http://www.motortrend.com/classic/features/1006_buick_ventriports_the_early_years/ Like to see 'em light up goin' off with the firing order. Now that's Style !
  7. Jaguar had a style all their own. No "Back in the Day" here , Mike, from a site called "Old Skool Racin'"
  8. also , from Joe on the Shelby Forums : "The fender stripes are known as FIA stripes. They were first used on a Cobra (CSX2128) at the 1963 Sebring FIA race. The stripes were painted on 2128 to distinguish it form the other team Cobras (all black painted body's) that were racing. The color chosen for 2128 was yellow. To answer your question; yes it started with the race cars."
  9. Originally, (back in the day) they were called "Recognition stripes" * used by many different racing teams, especially those with more than one entry, to identify certain cars on their team. "I'm sure it came from the factory that started it, Mopar. " must of missed that one somewhere. * Jon, I hadn't heard "Pit Stripes" But that very well may be.
  10. and Mustangs too I remember that tall scoop in an early AMT '65 Mustang kit.
  11. It's a whole nuther ball game. You said: " cargo and waring ships from the 1700s-1800s" that means sailing ships with sails and sails mean rigging. This is where it's ok to use thread for your wiring. http://www.revell.com/model-kits/ships/index.html
  12. There were "Cheater Slicks" in a few model kits. Johan had some
  13. I remember Monogram being more into cars at the beginning than the other companys,I.E. AMT.
  14. I like the last one
  15. I think the mods are still sleeping. But I must agree. There are several "From the time" automotive mag articles fully describing HIS build.
  16. WOW ! Just look at'em all. Folding wings, retractable landing gear, droping bombs, ejecting pilots, you name it. The one feature I always looked for was an opening / sliding canopy.
  17. But these kits were also "Toy Like" lots of moving parts. But as you said accurate.
  18. Good stuff here, thanks, Matt
