50s Caddy engines
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am going to use the Revell engine with the AMT 3 carb intake on this build, might look for a stock looking air cleaner that will cover all the carbs. -
This is my fourth one in the last couple months.

I think the one I have is from the 59 kit as its slightly larger then the Revell. -
50s Caddy engines
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found one that I think is the optional engine from the 59 Elcamino that has stock valve covers so at least I will have those. -
I am putting the Alantis/Revell Caddy engine in a AMT 40 Ford and would like to make it stock and like it was just plucked from the junkyard so are there any kits out there with a stock 50s Caddy engines. The AMT threw carb intake fits so this one will most likely be put together with it and aluminum valve covers but would like to build a stock looking engine in the future.

Gave the body a bath and getting the Caddy engine ready to go in,this is just going to be a quick build while glue and paint are drying on other builds and just the chassis, engine and interior are the only parts being painted.

Last summer I was given a bunch of models that came from a thrift store and this one was in it,not going to do anything with the paint and just do some detailing and install a correct engine and wheels and try to find a convertible top.

Do I build it?

It's going to get a quick build after I get the ,64 Dodge and T bird done. -
Was originally going back stock but would needed to come up with another set of stock rims I did not have,I had a set of them coming but put them on the convertible.
-
I presume it's a original issue that I got with some other models,it had been built as a race car but I put it back on the street. Paint is as nice as I would have liked but could not get all the old brush paint off but good enough for me.

I almost started on it,I found a decent 32 coupe body and frame that I was going to throw together but no interior so it's the 64 Dodge -

It seems a lot more 261s were available up north. -

I have done three 40s this month so time for a break,I will try to get to it before the end of winter and have a few that need to be finished first. -

Looks like GM of Canada had no problem offering the 261,in the states it was only offered in the very big trucks and took me awhile to find one. -

I was curious on how old it is,I started building them in the 70s and do not remember them in black. -

Its molded in black. -
I really like building those ol Monogram kits as most do not need to be painted.

Just finished my box art 40 and reassembled two 40 coupes from that parts stash I got earlier this year, well after looking for some parts I found another decent coupe and it looks like I have all the parts. Thinking about another shine hauler and might see if I can get that Alantis version of the Caddy engine to fit, kind of want to leave it alone and just continue the paint on the hood trim where the original builder left off. I might try to get at it before winter is over but have others started that I should finish first.
-
I picked up this 60s kit unbuilt opened but only missing the radiator and possibly the custom parts of it had them,it was a minimal paint build just like I have done when I built one as a convertible last year. The engine is from the 40 pickup kit.
-
My first time trying to duplicate what is on the box even though I did not follow it 100 percent.
-
Here is my take on the 40 shown on the box and it's the closest color I could find, what is shown on the box is stock but I like sleepers so it has a big engine under the hood. The engine is the 390 from the 34 pickup kit.

It's getting the 390 from the 34 pickup kit,I sawed the trans off the flathead and will be putting in behind the FR for a more correct trans, all my other FEs were incomplete and did not have the optional Chrysler engine as this is just from parts and pieces I collected.
-
I found another 40 coupe body in that batch of parts and if I can find a interior tub it will go back togather but next winter,I wish I would have seen this one before I saved the black one a couple weeks ago since its better and not heavily glued togather.

What kits did these slicks come from
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have seen them in a couple widths.
