I didn't do a box art build of this particular car for AMT, but it did lead me to building for them. The mid 80s box art for the 56 Ford was horrendous, so I showed them my build and they put me to work building for them for the next 6 years. You'll have to excuse the less than perfect condition of this 28 year old build. I had young kids at the time, and it did do a nose dive off the shelf at one point.

Not sure where that thing about the body colored headlight bezels on the 56 came from. Not true. I believe the only difference between 56 and 57 is no Fuel Injection and and a 265 rather than a 283.

Drop dead gorgeous. And that interior is the icing on a beautiful cake. Tell us how you did the wood grain dash and door tops.

I wish they would have restored the old recording console that sat in the bed in the earlier issues of the El Camino. It also originally came with a nice set of Fenton 5 spoked mags. Good to see it back either way.

MPC's 67 Stingray chassis will fit under that AMT body and interior like a glove. L-R Original 1964 issue, 65-67 annual with working springs, and the Streaker Vette/Night Stalker/Sting Ray issues from 1974-1988. (Just like the 64 minus the stock exhaust system.)

Gary, those builds are treasures! I don't know if you have Facebook or not but we have a group dedicated to old built models called "Scale Survivors". Your builds would definitely be a hit if you care to share them there. I love old survivors!

See that blob of plastic on the upper right? Thats a short shot of the rear Stylizing extension to the 57 Chevy. See bottom left of second photo. If Round2 opens all the gates a bunch of people are gonna be real happy.

They didn't mess with the tool like they did with the 57 Ford. Everything should be there shy of the 4 hole Halibrand mags for the back and the custom wheel covers. Both easy enough to retool. This could be the best reissue of this kit in 47 years.

That's what John Greczula told me during correspondence we had regarding another another kit. Apparently they changed their mind. I'm certain 95 percent of the original stylizing parts are still in the tool, so other than the custom wheel covers they could simply open all the gates for a straight reissue of the 1st Pepper Shaker. That would get me excited enough to buy several.

A little off topic but sadly John O'Neil passed away a couple of months ago. Cancer strikes again.

you are welcome. I think the other thing to consider would have to do with logic. The Eliminator Coupe is a iconic and finished vehicle. To build something so wildly different, it would be easier, cheaper and more sensible to start with another vehicle.

What makes you think that's the Eliminator? For one thing, the one in the pic is a 34.

Niiiiiice! Go to a music supply store ask them if they have any used guitar strings. Mine gave me some cheap new ones for free.

I think it would look pretty cool with stock headlights.

Mavericks never came from a stateside factory with a 289. Last year of production for the 289 was 1968. Mavericks came out in late 69 as a 1970 model. They did get the 302 in 1971.

I'd say you got pretty close on the Fawn Beige. Looks good!
