You're probably right. I didn't have the kit tires in front of me at the time to compare. I just remember the Revell tire being a little taller and skinnier than the AMT tire.

Looks like the Revell tire on the left and the AMT on the right. Very cool there is an easy source to find them.

The XR6 was modified into an empty mold cavity to make room for the My Mother the Car travesty. What makes it even more sad is the real TV car wasn't even a 27. It was butchered from Norm Grabowski's 24 touring. AMT should have tooled up a new kit with the MMTC stuff as an option. Then we'd at least have a 24 Touring and the XR6. But I was only 4 years old then and they didn't ask me.

Those are my holy grail AMT tires. There is a similar tire in the Revell Orange Crate. The ones in the Rat Roaster and Model A highboy try but fail.

I love those Molotow markers but they can't replace Baremetal foil for everything. There's no way I would have attempted the side trim with a Molotow marker. Cool build tho. BTW, a little rubbing alcohol will remove any Molotow oopsies if you need a second shot.

The chassis are basically identical other than the X member. All the suspension components will interchange between the 49 and 50 Ford kits. So yes the straight axle should be a direct interchange. I don't have the Showboat kit anymore but I'm pretty sure the instructions show the installation. As I recall the axle and leaf springs are all one piece.

A good chunk of the tool for that kit is in use for the 66 Mustang kit. Ertl subbed some so-so Shelby mags for the Rader WireMags tho. I'd like to see one of those Horse variants back too.

The Monogram 56-57 Chevys are a hot mess.

Headlights look nice other than the upside down lenses.
