Hey Guys Down here in New Zealand were quite fond of Mazdas Wankel engine. Fellow Kiwi Mad Mikes RX7 was the main inspiration behind the engine & the rest was something I wanted to do. Kit is Tamiyas Rx7, the Quad Rotor engine is from Eightyone, which to be honest is not worth it, the casting is terrible, I had to cut a wedge out of the blocks & join them back together to get the 4 rotor housing to sit stright, & still its not great, messy / lazy casting etc. I did decide to detail the engine quite a bit tho, scratchbuilt a few parts to fill the engine bay better. Wheels are from Aoshima & are painted with Badgers Minitaire Ghost Tint Magenta (ie Candy Pink) over the chrome plating, engine & dash is the same over Silver. Body was shaved of all badges & indicators for a clean look & painted with Zero Paints Lamborgini Girgio Telesto grey & 2K clearcoated. Thanks for looking. Ash

Hey Guys Finished this great Tamiya kit recently, built pretty much out of the box, but I lowered it as much as possible still using the kits wheels (maybe slightly too big for an R32) but im pretty happy with it. Painted Zero Paints Ferrari Silver, Nismo decals are from Hobby Design. My Nismo Family & R32 Racecar sister car Even the Cat likes it! & his name is also Nismo (much of a fan...)

Great job, Love the colour combo! The Mclaren (& the others, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche) configurator is always a great way to waste a few hours!

Hope Aoshima do a final version of the LB R35 GTR with the V2 kit that was released eariler this year, Looks like they could easily do an updated 2017 GTR too if theyve already got the new bumper & ligths for the LB1.5. The Civic is cool. Hope Tamiya releases something, thought they just did the Sf70h so not likely.

Very Nice! Great Job!

Great job so far, always good to build something different! You should give a Tamiya kit a go to, Youd be amazed!!! -
Great work! Love the 695 Tribute, wish Fujimi had done the wheels properly! (hobby design do a proper sized set) Size difference is massive even for what is still a small car!!! Not as bad as a Mini countryman...

Hey Guys Finally managed to finish off my RWB build, its fought me most of the way, but pretty happy with how it came out. Right from the outset I wanted to "redo" a build I did 14years ago which was losely based on Need for Speed - High Stakes game on PSOne (It was my first game!) I designed up a refined livery & cut some vinyl masks to suit & got to work. I used C1 Models full body resin transkit & their rear wheel wing set, great transkit, came with heaps, seats, engine, photoetch etc & Tamiyas GT2 racecar kit. Colours used were SMS Pearl White, spraycan gold & Pearl Black + Tamiyas Mx5 red & clearcoated with Alclads Light Sheen clearcoat. Its not perfect, I had a few fit issues & my vinyl masks pealed paint in a few spots. But overall Im happy with it.! WIP Inspiration Sitting with my 14year old build. (Its quite dirty too) Cheers for looking! Let me know what you think! Ash

Fujimi 1/12 Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32)
da_ashman replied to Scipio's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey Mate, A few years ago I asked Hobby Design if theyd to a detail up version for the 1/12 GTR, but they declined based on the kit not being availble & not highly sort after. But maybe if Fujimi have re-released it then maybe theyll consider it.... As for other aftermarket stuff for the big boys, sadly were out of luck, Ive been searching & collecting parts for my 1/12 Veilside GTR for years, so far Ive only found, a set of 1/12 seatbelts, hood pins & resin brakes. Found most of it on ebay. But there are a few options on Shapeways for larger scale stuff, I got a large Turbocharger & wastegate last year which were stunning in detail! Theres a website over in Europe that specialize in the bigger stuff, with prices to suit... I cant remember what it is but if I do I'll post it. -
Loving all the progress guys!!! Awesome new builds too! The turbo septic truck is awesome!!! Progress on my Soviet Silvia has been non existant, Ive been given a pre-production sample of the new Tamiya SF70H to build for my local Hobby shop, tried to have it done by yesterday to no avail, hope to finish it off this week so i can get cracking on my silvia! Keep up the good work guys!

Cheers Everyone! Belugawrx - I made template for the shape on the computer & cut them out of vinyl, applied that to 1.5mm styrene & cut out, then just added a couple of spacers on the body & glued the cut styrene flare on & putty, sand & repeat till I was happy. Sadly there no aftermarket products for this mustang, except for Plamoz's 2012 update set. Forgot to mention, body is painted Zero Paints 'Pepper Grey' or Eleanor grey & i printed my own decals for the side stripes because Revell only give you white or Silver. Cheers again everyone! Ash

Hey Guys I always wanted to build a newer version of Eleanor, to sit along side the 69 Eleanor. I started with Revells kit, threw the tires & wheels in the bin & went from there. Everythings scratchbuilt, only aftermarket item used were the hood pins. Big tanks to David Thibodeau for the Youtube build of the 69 Eleanor, I used his tip on masking stripes for this build, Pretty happy with how it came out overall. Cheers for looking Ash

Hey Guys Last week I realised I was never going to make it for club meeting on Thursday night, I'd put the body on & the front sat WAY to high & didnt look right. So I decided to slow down & remove the windows & fit them properly. Spent 3hrs sanding the openings in the body for a better fit & got them in, the body sits much better now & the front windshield is no longer fowling on the dash board. Although it now looks as tho the front wheels are centred in the openings, So might have to do more surgery to alter the wheelbase, but other than that , the other things I managed to get done include fitting more Magnets to better hold the rear spoiler. Should be able to finish this one up pretty soon. You may be wondering why I'm wearing gloves? Ive used Alclads Light Sheen clearcoat & dont want to ruin it, Ive previously ruined a Alclad matte paint job with my greasy mitts so I wear these car wrapping gloves Ive borrowed from work, really comfy & give a good feel. Stay Tuned! Ash

"Dude I almost had you"... Great work, looks awesome! -
& here's a couple of outdoor pics of the body. Its certainly not perfect & its needs a good clean but I'm pretty happy with it.

Got a few hours at the bench last night, made alot of progress. Seats are in, cage is in, interior, engine & chassis sorted, Wheels assembled & installed. My masking tape left residue on the sanded tire, thankfully some IPA got rid of it but its extra time i couldnt spare. Put the glass in too, in retrospec I shouldve spent more time making sure they were a nice fit by sanding the openings, Ive used some Aledrite glue to hold them in, but after fitting Ive noticed a few gaps that dont look great, If im not happy I may need to try & get them back out & do it properly. Last night tnight to try & get it & a mustang finished...

Cheers Guys Got a few pics from last nights efforts, sorry for the average pics, I'll get some good ones when the suns out! Made lots of progress last night, seats mounted, body ready for interior, Magnets sorted, engine pretty much ready to go in. Another big night tonight! Ash

Hey Guys Only 3 days to go till club night, hoping I can finish this one off with a few late nights. Ive been so busy I keep forgetting to take photos as I go, But much has happened since my last update. Body has been clearcoated with Alclads Satin clear, Used Turps to thin down the gluggy clear, no photo yet, I'll get one tonight. Engine has pretty much been finished, intake was Carbon Fibred & cleared, now awiting attachment. Interior wiring & seatbelts were completed yesterday. Wheels painted with PE mask (didnt come out that great tho) Tonight I need to mount the magnets & finish the glass. Fingers crossed.... Ash
