Zoli, Amazing work! You have captured the essence of the Mustang and the 80's! But it all ties and works so well. Beautiful work! Chris

Should I quit modeling?
crispy replied to ericmaxman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
At least you're at home building. A fun clean hobby. That's better than buying and using drugs, drinking and other illicit activities. When you finish a model you have something to show for it. When you do drugs what have you got to show for it? I don't know how old you are but maybe you can sit down with her and talk it over and both of you can come to a mutual agreement of some sorts. Don't let her discourage you. Chris -
Singapore Grand Prix
crispy replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
By far one of the most exciting races this year and a lot of surprises. I'm very happy to see Alonso win, but Scuderia Ferrari, what happened! I was hoping for Kimi to move into another position or two and I believe that he was certainly trying and thus the outcome. I was very surprised at Hamilton's composure. He ran a good clean smart race and I believe was very lucky to be third. In all honesty I really thought he would have a hotter head and try to pull something. I have to give him credit. I enjoyed this race very much. Chris -
R.I.P Paul. And I would also like to add that when I was growing up in Brainerd, MN. Paul would frequent BIR a lot. My dad even ran gas can man for him at one race. I was able to go into the pits and not only would he make an effort to talk with the kids he would also treat you as an equal. Probably one of my best remembrances as a child was at the track and him sharing his peanuts and popcorn with me. Truly a great individual. Chris

Looks great on there Jameston. If I might add a few things. If you can, pop the headlight covers off and run a sharpie broad tip around the edges. This creates that black seal seen on the real cars. It's light in some pictures of the 1:1's but it is there. Lastly, it appears as though you haven't got a mesh insert on the hood scoop. As much power as that thing puts out I'd hate to see a bird sucked in. LOL Just suggestions for subtle improvements, nothing more. Anyway, I really like the color on this. I wouldn't have thought of it. Super clean build too. Thanks for sharing.

At first I though, what is he doing with sprinkler heads? Then I saw the Motorola logo and that confused me. However I realized that those are the wheels for your Camaro! Great picture. Chris -

Best Trick For Doing Pinstriping
crispy replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
HEY! I used striping tape! This is Pactra trim tape. You know, the stuff that has about 6 different widths on a roll. I'd never done a separation line and thought this would be the easiest thing to do. Just add clear-coat to level it off. But since you don't want to use tape, never mind............... Chris -

Which Daytona Spyder is in the Testors box?
crispy replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've gotten a couple of good deals on the Fujimi kits via ebay. Then Fujimi started to re-issue some of the EM kits. Here's where I am at with just the 365's: Chris -
Which Daytona Spyder is in the Testors box?
crispy replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Simply put Chris, if you can get the Fujimi 365, then do so. The Italeri can be built, but it is much more of a headache. Of course, you are used to that! LOL Chris -
Lewis Hamilton's Verdict in!
crispy replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would say harsh words from Hamilton indeed. Best in the world? I guess in my book to be considered the best in the world at that caliber of racing you should have a world title, i dunno, maybe that's just me. Certainly Mclaren will fuel the fire, they know he'll try harder, which if that does happen can only mean bad things. Not only for him but for the other drivers as well. I like a level headed driver who can win and do so with integrity. Just because you win a race here and there does not make you a King. I look forward to the ruling and the race. Chris -
The club had a low turnout which seems to be the norm as of late for them. All in all though it was a great show. I always have fun there and the camaraderie is the best. Here are a few pics of the show with more at the link: You can see more at my St. Peter show pics here Chris

Lewis Hamilton's Verdict in!
crispy replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to agree with your thoughts Chris. I too believe it should be upheld. It's sort of a double edged sword for the FIA. Damned if they do and damned if they don't. You'll have those that think FIA is in Ferrari's pocket too. It's only a matter of time before he hurts himself and/or others. I don't want to see that happen. At any rate is should be interesting to see what happens. Thanks for the update. Chris -
Chris, you are right, sometimes you have to deviate away from the instructions and just try to figure it out. I've noticed this on a few builds I've done. It works for sure. Chris
-
David, gorgeous work! I was hoping you'd delve into a beautiful Italian. Look forward to the finished beauty. Chris

Ok Nick Got them scanned and posted on my fotki: Ferrari F40 instructions.

Nice work Chris. It seems you have been fixing a lot of the RoG problems. However in the end your hard work shows and you have a great build. I'm very happy to see you share your tips and tricks with us. Nick, I have the Tamiya F40 and I could scan the instructions for you in a day or two. IF that works let me know. Chris
