Check out my emodelcars auctions!
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a note for some of you. It costs nothing to sign up to emodelcars.com. You don't have to have pay-pal and there is no spamming messages from there. Listing stuff is free unless you require premium add-ons and even then they are cheap. There is absolutely no charge to buyers to register and look. Once January comes pay-pal is the only forced method on ebay. I know that some of you utilize only M.O. or checks. emodelcars.com accepts those forms of payment as well as many others. I strongly urge you to become a member and start selling/buying. I have about 32 listings on there now and have sold 8 items in the last two weeks. -

Chinese Grand Prix Results...

I knew there was some dissension among the ranks in F1, however I did not know there was so much of it against Hamilton. Sounds like he has no friends. Probably why he had to keep his car out front as far as possible. Certainly the next few races should be more interesting. Chris -
Ferrari F430 Challenge "Shark Nose"
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brendan, fantastic pics. That'll work great for me for detailing. Rey, fantastic pictures. That should help with my project immensely. Although I see your kit has he "correct" challenge body. The body in my kit does not have any of the holes cut for the Challenge pieces. I'm not quite sure what F430 body I have. I've since gotten the holes cut out. Looks like you have a lot more work involved than I had planned. I'm going to have to sit down and look at mine a little harder now. You've certainly opened my eyes. Thank You! Chris -
Absolutely stunning. My most favorite Ferrari of them all. Good Lord man. Beautiful work! Chris

I can already tell I'll be enjoying your builds. Great work. Paint, details, yeah, your group in P.R. rocks. Chris

Ferrari F430 Challenge "Shark Nose"
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm looking at the pictures but not seeing it. Maybe a good nights sleep a good day at work and maybe I'll have a better night at the bench. Then and only then I might be able to see what you are telling me. If you've done any work on this kit could you post the tail section of yours so I can see what you are doing? I understand what you are saying, but I'll have to take more time to look at the 1:1 pictures and better compare. Thank you for your input. It's very appreciated. Chris -

Hey Brendan, you back yet??? Hope you had a good time. Ran into a few more problems with this kit. The rear panel and rear exhaust all need to be sanded down or material removed to get the Challenge pieces to fit. I would have never thought I would need to do so much work on this kit. I'm getting close to purchasing another Fujimi kit with the correct Challenge body. I'm going to keep on trying though. See if I can't utilize some modeling skills. Chris -
Wow! Bad in black. Welcome aboard! Beautiful Ferrari. Always welcome another Ferrari builder! Chris

This build is so nice, you made me start looking for a kit. I'm partial to the 1000 lakes kit, but that is hard to find. Great job! Chris

Question about magazine subscription
crispy replied to MarkJ's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You'll have to call the offices about your sub. The number is: 303-296-1600 or: 866-908-6702 Gregg can't do much from here about subs. I'm sure a call to the offices will certainly help you out. Chris -
Nice, thanks for the look see Gregg! Chris

Bob Paeth passes.
crispy replied to Jim Keeler model cars's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My condolences to the Paeth family and to all those who knew him. I'm one of the guys that had never met him, however I read about him and have seen him post on the boards as well. This is certainly a blow to the modeling community. Chris -
Charlie, that looks great! I'm guessing you use Tamiya compounds? Paint looks smooth and shiny. Look forward to you getting this one along. Chris

Ferrari F430 Challenge "Shark Nose"
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Bob! Great Input! You know I have a hard time painting Ferrari's red. I had to build this car though. Just too cool not too. My initial plan was Tamiya's Italian Red, then something came up as far as color was concerned so I'm kind of waiting on that right now. Nothing like an honest remark from you Bob Thanks! Chris -
Ferrari F430 Challenge "Shark Nose"
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ok, so you guys did a great job helping me out with the fuel filler so now my next question for you is this: What color do you suppose the Shark car is?? I've narrowed it down to these: Rosso Corsa 300 Rosso Scuderia 323 Rosso Corsa 322 I'm leaning more towards 322 as it looks right from the pictures I've been looking at, but of course this is subjective due to photo conditions. Any input? Chris -

Ariel, it was a short run kit and has been discontinued. I got this about a month or two ago. I went looking for another one but no luck. You can try http://www.hlj.com http://www.hwjapan.com/ http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/car/ Of course you can keep an eye out on ebay too. I'm heading to work now, but will see if I can find another one. Chris -
That is nice. Great details. That is what makes some of these doldrum kits standout. Great work. Chris
-
That looks great! I always thought it had an eye catching paint scheme. Nice and clean and great stance. Chris

Ferrari F430 Challenge "Shark Nose"
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's the best shot of the car I could find. I believe it was raced in Europe. At least from the information I could find on it. And the kit: Although the numbers are changed and some other minor details. Tough to find shots of this particular car. Chris -

Ariel, Perfect! More shots than I would have imagined finding. Both links provide essential reference. I'm happy to see I have been on the right track so far. I knew that the cars utilized two fillers for that very reason. I can get to the body and hammer on now. Thank You! The only thing I didn't see in any of those pictures are the car I'm working on. Although the kit has since been discontinued. All the cars are essentially the same anyway. Again, thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated. Chris -

Brendan, That would be awesome if you could. I have plenty to do on the car. I'd ask you to get down and dirty and measure for me, but some good close pictures would be worth it. If you get time and a chance. Don't go out of your way though. Have fun! Thanks! Chris
