  1. This is much better than a trophy. What I like about it is hearing what everyone has to say. I prefer to share my stuff here and at the other boards for which I receive good constructive criticism to make my builds better. Because of being here and at the other boards I have been able to hone my skills and improve with each build. Truly, thanks to you all. Thanks guys! Chris
  2. Harry, That is the man I learned it from. Bob knows his stuff. Chris
  3. I can't believe it. I now know what you guys feel like when you talk about making it. While it's not MCM or SA, I am happy nonetheless! I made the corner cover and page 37 of Great Scale Modeling 2011 by Fine Scale Modeler. I picked up a couple copies today and my wife also surprised me with two more. LOL I have to thank Don Stadick for the heads up. Pretty cool. The car at home: Chris
  4. Brendan that is gorgeous! What a clean build and the paint is really nice. Great job! Chris
  5. Rob, good call. I think a GS would be nice as well. Pretty easy to do with what they already have here. I'll do the wait and see. Chris
  6. I utilize a Micron pigma pen when doing panel lines. I start as early as the bare plastic. Once body work and sanding have been done I go over the lines again. I do this after each primer coat. I also do one more "once over" on my first color coat. You just need to be mindful of the colors you are using to make sure it doesn't look to dark or toyish. Micron pigma pens come in different colors. I find I use black the most. The last car I did, Aston DBS, I utilized the same method. Unfortunately for some odd reason, my lines have all but disappeared. I was kind of surprised. I may have put the final color coat on too heavy, washing out the black. So, from that I learn, adapt, overcome. It's the method I use. It is not the only method available. However, it's worth a try. Chris
  7. That Porsche exudes sexiness. I have a couple of these kits myself and seeing this one really gets the flame going. Beautiful build. What did you use for interior color? I've heard some folks have had problems with the engine mesh. What brand did you use? Looking forward to your detailed build! Chris
  8. Any ideas on the producer? I would think it would be AMT since the kits they have are pretty close to promo style. ZR1 and Z06 would be must haves for me. Chris

Loving the color! Good work. Still up in the air on whether I want to get this kit. I do like how it looks though. Chris
  10. Some really nice stuff Isk! Very productive year for sure. Looking forward to you 2011 builds. Chris
  11. Oh my. Marcos, I'm just going to throw my kit away now... I really look forward to seeing this one done. Thanks for the tip on the elastic. I'll be picking some up. Great idea! Keep updating and step by stepping for us. I'm going to "borrow" some of your creativity. Chris
  12. I was shooting for 6 completions this year. Number 5 is about 50%, so It'll count as a 2011 completion. Here we go, old to new: Fujimi Nissan Skyline R-33 S-Tune Aoshima Mercedes Benz SL63 Fujimi Ferrari 599 GTB Tamiya Aston Martin DBS Had I not lost my ambition I would have had 5 done with the Revell Corvette ZR1. That will be done in Januaryish! See all my completions and more at MY FOTKI Chris
  13. Alright Kane, another beauty! You're making a fan out of me. Looking forward to more of your work. Chris
  14. Absolutely stunning Kane! While I have this kit I am just not sure if I am ready to dive in yet. Beautiful clean build and great touches throughout. What brand or type of paint did you use? Chris
  15. Lyle, you had a great year! I'm loving the blue pick-up! I'm not up on all the old rod stuff, but that is my favorite! Great job! Chris
  16. Curt, fantastic stuff all of them. Looked at all your chapters and I am amazed at how much you build and how nice it is. Really love the F1 stuff. I wish I could take the time to build like that. I look forward to your 2011! Chris
  17. I used the Nismo set on my Nismo kit. In my opinion it adds more realism to the kit itself. In using the photo etch on other kits I have seen that not all of it can or should be used. As was stated earlier sometimes the kit plastic works better than the metal itself. I don't think I used all of the p.e., but I also keep it all in case I want to use it for something else. Parts is Parts. Here's a shot of the brakes utilizing the p.e. set. Screens: emblem on the front: The completed car: Tamiya's p.e. is nice, but in my opinion overpriced compared to some sets you can get with a plethora of parts. All the same you do get some nice stuff and I would recommend p.e. for any kit using it where necessary to add to the overall build. Good luck! Chris
  18. Glad to have helped Ian! Looks like you have a lot of TLC to give that thing. Todd, Bob doesn't have that particular kit on the site. It has been submitted for addition now though! LOL Chris
  19. Ian, I scanned my instruction sheet for the RoG version. The reason being is it has a parts list. If you find that you need the U.S. version let me know. I can open that up later and scan them for you too. For the meantime, here is where the instruction sheets are at: RoG SuperAmerica Chris
  20. Great job! Great year of work for you too. I remember when this car came out I thought it was pretty cool what they could do with that thing. While not a hot must have kit, I would certainly love to see Tamiya re-issue this. I'd love to have one in my collection. Great work again. I love the colors and wheels. Chris
  21. Let me know if you can't get them. I have the RoG and US edition. THe US edition hasn't been opened, but I believe the RoG version is exactly the same. Chris
  22. Phil, great work so far. I suspect, as you do, that the GTO will probably become a kit from Fujimi. At any rate yours will have more thought and detail than the Fujimi kit would, or even the RoG version if that were to happen. I hear you on the wheels too, If they could recommend a tire that would fit that wheel, say what kit at least, that would make it easier, but purchasing a kit to get the tires would be very expensive. Groveling to your fellow modelers would probably be the best bet. If it happens and you get those wheels, I do have some spare tires from a Ferrari 360 by Tamiya I was using as a parts car. Tires are on the table if you need them. Just let me know. Chris
  23. I'm looking forward to it. Cause in the end it's entertainment, and I like entertainment. Enjoy them for what they are, no thought popcorn movies. They are not looking for Oscar performances here. I'm sure the car sequences will be great. Chris
  24. Beautiful! Great tribute.
  25. Fantastic! It all fits and looks right. Great build and imagination Steve! Chris
