Nice work Gerry, I'm looking forward to the progress. I love the 612's endless customization options it lends itself to. Chris

How many BUILT models do you own?
crispy replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm at 60 built and on display at home here. I'm thinking one year I'm going to finish all the ones that are in progress. Chris -
A Sad Warning For 1:1 Owners
crispy replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's already been converted to propane living it's day of days in Mexico.... This happened to a friend of mine. His truck was locked and on main street. Insurance paid out and 5 years later they found it just like I mentioned in my first phrase. Chris -
Michael's Coupons - Where Do I Find Them?
crispy replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You'll have better luck getting coupons via your email once a week. Michaels corporate has really dropped circulation of their ad. In two years or less they will be completely reliant on email ads only. They have already run 3 ads via internet only. Gaining coupons through your local paper, if you get an ad, purchasing something at a store and receiving a register coupon or through your email are the only ways to get them. They do occasionally have them on the website, but prefer you to be registered. Your privacy is of concern to them and they only email you once a week. As was mentioned, they do accept AC Moore, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby coupons. They also do price matching if you have an ad from a competitor, but it has to be the exact same item. Models very rarely go on sale. They do drop the price on them for clearance purposes and if you catch it just right you can use a coupon if you have a sleepy cashier thus making it even cheaper. There are a lot more items for modeling use throughout the store that are pretty inexpensive. Thinking outside the box really helps. With the holiday seasons approaching they now have their Halloween Lemax buildings and accessories out. Great opportunity for skulls, lighting, fences, trees and the like. Be sure to read your coupons exceptions too. Chris -

2010 Corvette Promos
crispy replied to 7000in5th's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm interested in any of the pace car versions or the Z06 and ZR1. I pick them up for my son. Chris -
I hadn't planned on buying this kit. However I've seen this a few times at the Cars & Cafe event I go to and I'm really thinking it needs to be built: Chris
-
I've no idea how you build so cleanly so quickly and accurately. Great work once again! Curt. I noticed some of the CF was cleared while other parts were not. Trying to keep it raw looking? I didn't realize their was CF that far back on these cars, but then again it wouldn't surprise me either since F1 is cutting edge technology. Chris

These are great little kits. I've built two of them. Both of these Revell kits are the Fujimi kit. The Revell of Germany kit added a new set of wheels. One of my most favorite baby Benz's. I have another one I'll be building in the future with some different wheels. Fun kits, just not loaded with detail. Chris

Looks good! How'd you do the rims? Chris

Very nice and clean. I like what you did with the spoiler. The car looks stock, but the spoiler adds an element of go fast to it. Chris

Flocking from the scrapbooking section
crispy replied to Darren B's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Martha Stewarts flocking is pretty fine. I like it better than Testors brand. I've used it in a few builds already. I've also tried the $1.00 stuff they have in a 4 pack. It's ok, but has glitter like stuff in it. Martha Stewart is what I'm using, but only when I have a coupon. Chris -
Model Cars May/June
crispy replied to High octane's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Checking in from MN.. I got mine as well today. Chris -
Ahhh, I have a piece of that in tan. Just haven't tried it out. Wondering how workable it will be in 1/24th scale. Thanks Curt. Chris
-
Curt, what did you use for the seat? I know in this scale you have a wider variety of options to choose from. It looks to good to be flocking. Fantastic work as usual! Chris
-
Bob, that is beautiful. The color is perfect. The wheels are just as nice. I can't believe how little work you have into them. Looking forward to this one for sure. Chris

what type of airbrush do you use?
crispy replied to DrewCfromSC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My one and only weapon is the Badger 175 (dual action siphon) as well. I've never had a problem with this airbrush and it does everything. Need parts? Lot of places carry them, including Michael's Arts and Crafts. Now would be the time to print one of their coupons (50% off!) and pick up a 175. Chris -
Love the car. Not a fan of the wheels, but like you said it is custom. Kevin, if I may add a suggestion, a detail that might add to the realism of the car. On the headlight covers run a black sharpie around them to give that rubber seal look before you apply them to the car. It really does enhance the look. Maybe on the next build if you do something like that. Just a suggestion nothing more. Nice build though. Chris
-
Wow, no kidding Marc! He did a really nice job on those. Can you lay down some contact information?? I'll gladly throw an order in. Also, did you get your new wheels from Aoshima yet? I just got my shipment yesterday. OF course the BBS' were in gold, but had to get them. Chris Never mind, I found his fotki site. He's got some pretty cool stuff there.

The Moebius Lonestar
crispy replied to Art Anderson's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Ben, keep your eyes on this thread. Dave Metzner answers a lot of questions here, and when the time comes I am sure he'll post more info. Lonestar Chris -
