  1. Got these from HWJ this morning: Sadly I noticed the shipping box was fairly beat up and of course that transcended into the kit of the 458. I have bent pillars. I'm hoping I can straighten them, but they are so fragile. I notified HWJ and hope to get a body from them. Chris
  2. High humidity and strong winds, but the scenery was worth it. I enjoy this show immensely due to the variety of vehicles. Here are a few: More at MY FOTKI Chris
  3. Nice work Curt. Really am not surprised though Nice to see the time and thought you put into this so the buyer gets his moneys worth. Looking forward to seeing this in full race glory. Chris
  4. Thanks for all the comments guys. I really do appreciate them. As was said in a thread on here, build for yourself and have fun. That's what I do. I build exotics mainly and the staple on the table's in my area are 70's and older style domestic stuff. I'm usually the only one with exotics. Most of them, as you all know, are curbside. Most of the time I get beaten out with anything that has a wired engine. I was very shocked to have placed anyway. The two builds that beat me were extremely nice. I never mind giving up first to really nice builds, but in the end I get to talk with guys I haven't seen since the last show and learn from them. I had a great time and always enjoy showing my newest build here and anywhere. Now, on to my Aston Martin! Chris
  5. Took it to a local contest today (pics later of that one) and took third with it. I decided to just have fun with it and it came out pretty nice. Fujimi Ferrari 599 GTB. Fujimi 20" BBS wheels stripped and sprayed ts-26 Tamiya semi-gloss black. Body is finished in Zero Paints Rosso Fiorano. Topped with Tamiya TS-13 clear. Interior is basic red and black with flocking. Photo etch throughout. A couple of pics with more at MY FOTKI: Chris
  6. The Revell kit is pretty darn nice for the money. The Tamiya kit has more opening doodads. If you want an Enzo for the shelf the Revell kit will fit the bill very well. Chris
  7. About time we have a set date, again.... I've waited myself as well to buy a PS3 simply for this game. I had heard rumors of the Top Gear track, glad to see it on there. Very very excited about this release. I suspect PS3's will sell well in November. Chris
  8. Something about this kit over the regular SLR I like more. Not sure if it's the wheels or what. Tamiya nice though. Chris
  9. Sounds good! I look forward to seeing what it is! LOL Chris
  10. Beautiful work Bob. That color scheme really hits the mark with me. I am disappointed to hear about the caveats on this kit. Like you, I too would have expected much more for my money. The seat bottoms are very disappointing. Half the fun for me is the interior and what a great job to the details they do. Like you I won't let it deter me as I look forward to this coming. Also like you I look very forward to the Revell kit. Which, as of late, has become superior to Fujimi and only getting better. Bob, really stunning color scheme. I love it.Now, not to have to copy it! Chris
  11. Although not a great kit, with some good planning and taking note of the issues you can do something with it. When I built my BOM kit I was pretty happy, but then I learned some things along the way and had the same problems. I'm particularly unhappy with the hood fitment as well as the bad job I did on the front bumper. With all of that I learned some things and new techniques and will apply them to my Blue version soon. Here are the two I built, the Black one was my test run with the Orange supposed to be my detailed build. My blue one will be much better with everything I've learned on these two. Chris
  12. I had an expensive day. These all showed up today: I've been averaging about 10 models a month or more. Man, I need to get building! Chirs
  13. I didn't make the NNL Mark. My sons graduation was Sunday. I'm hoping to make it next year. Always have stuff that comes up on the NNL day. So far things look good for next year. Chris
  14. Hence the reason I took some extra shots of that cars frame, seat and engine area. We(my friends and I) were commenting on the offset of each of the items you mentioned. I wish I could have gotten more and better pictures, but the crowds were really huge due to the rain. I know I'll be picking up the kits. Believe it or not I don't build the things, I love the nostalgic-ness of them. Chris
  15. They were. I took pictures of them. You can check out the link I provided in my first post. What I liked was there was a nice board there with Revell offering these as upcoming kits. The board was sitting behind Roland. Chris
  16. UGH! What can I say? It was super wet here. I'm sure there will be some really nice stuff on Sunday since it is to be very nice. Only day I could go so I made due with a couple of my friends and off we went. More at MY FOTKI, 2010 MITP Chris
  17. What a wet day! Of course at 6 p.m. the sun is shining. Here are a few pics from this months C&C. I'll be posting Mopars in the Park pics soon too. 1 of 45 Lee Iaccoca Mustangs: All 101 photos can be found at June Cars & Cafe Chris
  18. I'm going to go so far as to say I'm not an expert. However, having owned nothing but 2nd gen Trans Am/Firebird's for 20 plus years I feel I have some knowledge on the subject. Sure I could look all over the internet, but I'll utilize my sources here at home in my plethora of Library like material from POCI and others. 1977: Firebird Esprit with "Skybird" option W60 1978: Firebird Esprit with "Skybird" option W60, Mid Year 1978 "Red Bird" option W68 1979: Firebird Esprit with "Red Bird" option W68 1980: Firebird Esprit with "Yellow BIrd" option W73 The End. Chris
  19. Highway is right, no 1/16 or larger of the 77/78 Trans Am. The Esprit Sky bird edition was through 78, but replaced by the red bird mid way through. The 79 version of the car would be the red bird version. Not saying you couldn't build a sky version, just that there wasn't one in 79. Chris
  20. Charlie, not the same person. Tom Lowe was owner of the PL brand and sold it(and all his brands) to RC2 which in turn was running it into the ground. Tom Lowe struck a deal to lease the molds and here we are today with some great stuff from MPC, Ertl and Polar Lights, due to Tom Lowe's love for these brands. Totally different people on the Lindberg side of things. I just wanted to clarify that. Chris
  21. Bob, looks fantastic. I can't believe you had that many problems. I built one and that was enough for me. LOL Clean work, I really like it. Chris
  22. Hope that helps. Chris
  23. I've got the 934 on the to do list. Love these big Porsche's! Nice work so far. Chris
  24. Excellent! I'm not a Ford man but they sure had a pretty truck there. One of if not my all time biggest wants in the truck dept for a plastic kit. You wait, once you finish it a kit will appear on the horizon! Keep at it. Great work. Chris
