1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Landaulet - Trumpeter Kit
crispy replied to PeterLepold's topic in Model Cars
That is the best rendition of the trumpeter Monte Carlo I have ever seen. The boat only adds to it. Very nice work. Chris -
Wow, those are slick! Nice clean builds! Thanks for sharing. Chris

That is a sweet build! Chris

Not too bad of an issue. I especially liked the SRT8 Up Close piece. That should help modeler's with that kit. So, Can we hope that issue 120 is at the press? Chris

Marc, funny how the bumper and the chin spoiler add so much more to the car. You are really setting this one off! I love it! Chris -
Revell '70 Pontiac Firebird 2'n1 1/24
crispy replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Meaning Automotive paints instead of your Hobby enamels. The new Revell plastic is very susceptible to crazing without proper treatment. Meaning you should prime it with thin coats, or use Zinnser sealer on the body before even putting color coats on. When you do your color coats, do very thin coats for buildup before you do a wet coat. Chris -
The paint work is incredible! The doors look fantastic! Love it! Great work! Your relative should be very happy! Chris

1970 Camaro SS...update w/new pics 1/20/2007!!!
crispy replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Marc--Simply put: Bitchin' Camaro! That looks great. The lighting seems to have really helped. Any chance you can take a snap of those? You know, just to cure my curiosity. I'll maybe have to pick some up for my bench.... Chris -
James, that is fantastic! I have one car in my stash, the F2005 that I cannot wait to get too. This is an inspiring build for me. Great work! Chris

Derek, Build for yourself, you'll find it so much more fulfilling. Never be embarrassed to bring any of your models to a show. It's a perfect time to learn, ask and mingle. Most of the builders I have talked too at shows are always willing to share and help improve your build, but you gotta ask and be willing to listen. If you are building strictly for a show, sorry, I can't help. I build what I like how I like and go to the show to have fun. Anything that becomes of the show is purely coincidental. Trophies only take up more room which could be used to shelve more unbuilt kits. Chris

posting your work areas
crispy replied to sparkyd31's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
These pictures are throughout a few years. But in general it hasn't changed much: More can be seen here: http://public.fotki.com/73superduty/my_hob...re_the_plastic/ I think this weekend I may finish up one of my builds and clean the whole room! Chris -

I had been wondering if you had gotten one yet Ismael. I really like it. I've been toying with ordering one myself. It looks great! Chris -

Here's my old girl, Goldie. We rescued her. Best dog I have ever had. Here is what she looks like when I bother her: She tries to hang out in my model shop, but she has that hair that sheds. I don't like her in their, but she'll sit next to the door and watch me. Chris

Got mine at the LHS today! Thanks Gregg for the little shout out on the new kit list!! Very Cool! I haven't read my issue yet. Gotta get it out of my sons hands! Chris

1969 Barracuda update 1/2/07...Rumblefish is ready
crispy replied to Daniel Peterson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks sharp. I've got a kit here, but only because I wanted the wheel covers. I wasn't that interested in the subject matter. If that wasn't a great build for you, then I cannot wait to see your next one! Beautiful car, stance, wheels and paint! Chris -
Erik, I'm not a fan of red paint. But that is me. If you like it, then by all means spray that bad-boy and see what it will look like. Silver goes with just about anything. As for that hood, wow, how did you go about that? Looks interesting. Do you plan on carrying that out throughout the whole truck? That I like. Chris

These were posted in honor of Fred Cady's decal work. Now that he is retired the builders of his decals had a great weekend posting their builds on Tom's message board. I saved all the photo's and now you can see them all in one place. Over 150 photo's of the great builds utilizing the Fred Cady decals. http://public.fotki.com/73superduty/fred-cady-tribute-album/ Chris

2005 Corvette Buildup Teaser pic-----1/28/07
crispy replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Magnificent work Bill! It's so shiny now, will you still polish the paint out once it has all cured? I ask since looking at new cars on the lot they have exactly the shine you have now. Once you polish it out though I feel it gets to be much more shiny that a real life counterpart. By no means is that meant derogatory, but just to fulfill my curiosity. I usually paint and clear and depending on the vehicle determine if I should polish or not. Again, great tutorial Bill! Chris -
Revell '70 Pontiac Firebird 2'n1 1/24
crispy replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here is a boost to KT's fine review. IT is a basic re-pop. It feels like the "new" Revell plastic to me. The key here my fine friends, is patience while painting with hot paints. Here are the pics: New Tires: For Bill: And of course the tails are in red and you have your clear windshield etc... Chris
