  1. AWESOME Lyle! Unfortunately if GM cared about the people who put money in their pockets the Camaro would be out next year (late '07 early '08) not as an '09 version. They did this same thing with the SSR and look what happened. They got interest really high and then waited and waited and the truck went flat, not even out of the gate. Of course price and impracticality didn't help. I'm sure the Camaro will do fine because it is a Camaro, but jeez, how long do we have to wait! Again Lyle, You nailed it just right. Chris (apologizing for the rant)
  2. jbwelda, I bought a 1974 SD-455 Trans Am awhile back and had it transported to me from Oregon. Well upon arrival of the transporter and watching the door open to see my car, their in the top row all alone was Janis Joplin's Porsche. We could only look and not touch. I have some pictures of it around here somewhere and I'll have to scan them in, but talk about a cool piece of art. The driver told me the Porsche was pushed into the truck with white gloved personnel and would not be touched again until it made its way to the Rock and Roll museum. The car had no fluids in it. I was told this because it had been stolen at one time and when it was recovered they decided to deter any would be thieves by draining the fluids. Anyway, like I said, I'll have to dig those pics out and scan them in. Chris
  3. The top two kits are just wheel kits. Yeah, you can pretty much pay out the nose for the really nice sets on ebay. These run $8.99 at Hobby Lobby which is a great price to begin with, but then take off their 30% or 40% and that makes them a great buy. I'm hoping in a week or two they do their 50% off model sale. Chris
  4. You should be able to utilize most air compressors out their. As long as it has a pressure regulator and a moisture bowl/trap. Since I do all my stuff in the house I bought a silentaire compressor. It is tank-less and runs only when needed. It has auto shutoff and makes nary any noise. I've also heard of guys just filling air tanks and bringing them in the house. Same rules apply, pressure regulator with moisture trap. By the way, that's a nice MIL you have. Chris
  5. SWEET Deal Ken! I was lucky enough to find two more sets of Kranze's and some VolK TE37's at my HL. I also brought home the Road Warrior car. I couldn't pass that up. What wheels did you get? Chris Here are pics of my haul today:
  6. Everything but the 71 mercury. Look for the release list in Model Cars magazine. Chris
  7. As a boy I grew up in Brainerd MN. My Dad actually got to pit for Bob Sharp racing, but not Paul Newman. It was a gal that I cannot for the life of me remember. However as he was in the pit area I was able to join in. I helped push Paul's Datsun from the truck to the pits. We were able to sit on the transporter and shoot the breeze with Paul Newman. IT was very surreal to be able to sit their and see all of his fans point and yell. You almost felt like a star yourself. I was also able to meet Danny Ongias and a few other cool drivers that, again, I cannot remember. This was the late 70's early 80's time period. If I have any memories that were good, those were the ones. I loved going to the track with my dad. Chris
  8. Good news, My LHS sold the last issue out! Chris
  9. Hopefully JayVee will see this. He's been doing them quite a bit with fantastic results. He did a tutorial awhile back. If anything maybe send him a private message. He posts right here on Model Cars. Chris
  10. Bill, Have you tried Keith Marks? He sells quite a bit on ebay under kmarks999. He does special orders for a nominal fee. Turnaround is excellent and his decals are top notch items. The best way to get hold of him is through ebay. Good Luck! Chris
  11. It looks great Marcos! The paint looks slick! Chris
  12. That is sweeeet!! I love the wheels paint and the cool exhaust! Nice Work! Chris
  13. OOps, Craig is right. I was talking about the 49 Merc, not a Ford. My bad. Sorry to burst your bubble... Chris
  14. The 53 Ford "double Flip" truck has what I call an appeasement date. Scheduled for 9/30, but this WILL change. As far as the 49, yeah, I think dreaming would be the best. Otherwise we'll have to wait for the Revell kit. Chris
  15. I don't know what it is, but what I have seen and known is that most of the times the computer ends up their. Connected to the cold air tube to keep the computer cool. IT may or may not be that, but I'm guessing here. Chris
  16. LMAO...Well, I live in MN. and have yet to see any around here. We did get four inches a couple weeks ago, but that came an went in the night. Don't worry Gregg, you'll come to hate it as much as I do. However, lots of kits get built when that stuff is on the ground. Chris
  17. Ken, It is the first time I have ever seen these. I make it a point to stop at least once a week to take a look see. They get their freight in on Thursday and I usually check then, or Friday. Chris
  18. If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area check them out. I just picked these up: These were 8.99 and I happily took 40% off of them. That makes them a whopping $5.77!!! I looked all over and could not find more. But, it is a start. They also had the 3 pack rear wing kits, I passed on those. My store also had a few different Aoshima kits, mainly RX7 and Supra. Anyway, just wanted to throw this out to you as an FYI! Chris
  19. Manny that is gorgeous. Your flames are perfect for that. I hope it does well for you! Chris
  20. Daaang! That looks great James! Chris
  21. Jeff, that is a beauty! Brings back memories from my youth. My Dad was a heavy Camaro (Chevy) fan. He bought my mother a new 79 Camaro, traded that in on an 82. Anyway, I remember seeing a black one just like your kit on the lot. Just too cool! Chris
  22. Andy, that is sweet! What paints did you use? I love green and black together . You incorporated them well! Chris
  23. I have to concur with what the guys already said. I like using Tamiya whites, primer too. Here is my Isuzu Impulse painted with Tamiya TS-07 Racing White over the bare plastic. and no clear. If Tamiya is readily available to you I would go with that. If not then try an automotive store, but make sure you utilize a good primer/sealer. Chris
  24. I love those racks. I have two of them myself. It definitely helps tidy up the workbench, or does it? LOL Chris
  25. Matt, Glad to see you are back up and running! The truck looks fantastic! Great color for it. Now, where are the exotics..... Chris
