  1. Picked up the Tweedy Pie and here is whats in the box. Don't know alot of this kits history, but I'm assuming it's a straight reissue. Not great pics but you'll get the idea.
  2. OK this may not be my best build, but it's one that made it to a magazine, so I'm pretty proud.
  3. Yeah, I think $7-$10 is reasonable most of the time. If I sell something for a bunch, say $50-or more, I usually ship/insure for free .Usually USPS Priority is what I use, Fed Ex home is good too.
  4. Yeah, these are going to be sweet, time to get the checkbook open
  5. I want to bo on a cover with a swimsuit model admiring my latest build....but seriously, I'd love a cover shot. I have a few trophies, but the first time I saw one of kits in print.....WOOHOO! What a rush.......so yeah, give me a cover.......and the girl
  6. I see it every once in a while. The LHS I frequent keeps a good selection of snap kits around, and they have them at just the right eye level for younger builders and at $12.00 or so, not a bad buy for mom or dad. When Hobbytown has their National contests I usually see a fair number of younger builders entering kits.
  7. Geex, now I want one. I'd have some reservations about getting a top notch paint job on a large boddy like that, but to me to me it's looks worthy of the price.
  8. Pretty good thread, nice to know we read more than kit instructions, well some guys read them anyway.... I read anything by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, love their "Pendergast" novels. Read most of Tolkein works, I keep trying to read James Fenimore Cooper, but he's a tough read, As several have mentioned I have also read a couple Clive Cussler books and I really like Alton Brown's cook books, more about more about "How to" than recipes, his suggestions always work for me.
  9. Only problem I have with the cats is they like to sit on my lap while I build...........
  10. yep I've ordered from both HLJ and Hobby Search, four or five days Japan to NC! No issues as of yet, Sometimes they offer shipping specials which is when I load up.
  11. I open, most definately, sometimes at the counter, usually I can make it home. Depending on type of build, out of box say vs maybe I'm gonna customize a little, I'usually get the body prepped and primed, (If I use primer, seems to happen less and less) at the very least I get everything cleaned up and ready for paint.
  12. 2011 Nissan Altima Coupe, Crimson Black, love it.
  13. I saw him and Jimmy Valiant (Boogie Woogie) not too many years ago, seeling pics of themselves in a local mall, promoting a show at the amory and hawking a wrestling camp.....Valient looked rough, if I hadn't known better I figured him for a homeless guy lookin for a handout.
  14. I met this guy last summer, Kyle Petty's father, pretty fun guy, seemed to know alot about racing himself, Been fortunate enough to meet quite a few famous types over the years. I've gotten to know several major league baseball players very well through some charitable work I do on occasion, a good friend from college played in the NBA for about 16 years and Junior Johnson doesn't live far and out and about quite abit. SO far by favorites have been Tommy Lasorda and Bobby Valentine, thats a picture I need to scan and get posted.
  15. Same refs have all the missing Johan tools.......
  16. Nice job, looking forward to your next one!
  17. I recently reached the half century mark, and I love technology! Its an integral part of my job and life. Being in a healthcare related field, I am amazed everyday by what can be done now. Ever see a surgical procedure performed with robotics? Amazing. Some procedures that used to mean long and risky time "under the Knife" are now minimally invasive with rapid recovery times. It's things like that , that make me appreciate every advancement made., OK I have to go and paint, or build, or glue something.
  18. Looking forward to getting the Gremlin, Camaro, 1/16 Charger, Manx, well heck looking forward to just about everything, just have to fight the urge to have them the second they hit the shelves........
  19. I also cannot recall ever getting a damaged copy, believe me, I do far more damage to them than any postman ever could!
  20. Model Cars and Scale Auto by subscription, occaisionally buy Fine Scale Modeler. Lots that I buy once in a while for one or two articles, and several non hobby ones as well (Rolling Stone, Various sports publications and several trade mags related to my job.)
  21. There was an episode of Law and Order, or CSI or someother detective show where the bad guy built models and then found real versions of the cars and he killed the owners. I think most what were shown were diecasts, but the story line was that the bad guy was a model builder.
  22. Yep, looking forward to it, don't know why, just something a little different for the shelf.
  23. I'm looking forward to it, One of my favorite years for Corvettes.
