  1. http://www.carolinakustommodelers.com/ OK Might be tough to read that one, more info here.
  2. For the groupies mostly, you know those wild chicks who follow the NNL Tour....OK maybe not, Dad and Bro got me started, I've built all kinds of genres, autos, military, airplanes, space...etc. It's just flat out fun for me. I've got other hobbies and interests, but the best days seem to be the ones that include throwin paint glueing or rubbin out and groaking!
  3. Got mine the other day, I like it, not much in the way of mold lines, appears very nice clean work, front fascia will require what to me will be a little tricky masking, but hey it can't all be easy! Doing my first in white, promised a friend to do that, then probably a Grabber Blue like the box art.
  4. Not married but most of the women I go out with are pretty supportive. They usually have hobbies too, scrapbooking, knitting etc. so weekend trips to hobby shops are usually a no brainer. One still kids me that my house is a mess but you could eat off the floor where you paint and build models!
  5. I think this show is reran @ 11:00 pm EST on Speed.
  6. I'd purchase a couple just help get the ball rolling on other similier packs, street tires, wheels, wire wheels, customs etc etc, I think we all agree this woul be greeat!
  7. I think about a dozen currently in view in the house, probably another 20 older built in storage, and maye 25 started or waiting to be started. I have a habit of giving away alot of builds, Ive traded a couple, I even sold one, a few have become cat toys, and some diecasts will soon be turned into stash money to use to go to a couple shows over the summer.
  8. I can tell you all from personal experoence that I have improved a ton from listening to folks here, at shows, at club meetings etc. The first couple times people said things to help me get better, I was a little confused 'cause others had said how great my builds were. Well once I went to a few shows and other displays of models it became quite clear I had room to (improve,(grow) etc. I had never thought for a second about removing mold lines, fillings gaps, deepening body panels...etc. I enter contests and have gotten a couple trophies over the past couple years, but I now get a bigger thrill when a fellow modeler tells me that a build looks good, or even asks ME how I did some thing on a kit. I look at at any comment I get, positive or negative as a learnig experience and a chance to get better. I look at something I build 5-6 years ago to something more recent and it's like night and day. I''ve only got fellow modelers to thank for it.
  9. Someone had test shots of the 1/12 Mustang at NNL East and If I remember they thought September for that release.
  10. Can't believe it took this long to mention her! Quite a looker~
  11. Yep I also woud love to see an ice cream truck conversion. Drop a blown motor in it......Good Zumor......todays spececial.....225 MPH!!!!!
  12. I attend a few shows a year and usually find folks friendly enough. Sometimes I hear people being jerks, but most times their fussing with a vendor. At 1:1 shows I don't talk much, I try to limit my comments to "Nice ride" When you real hot rod owners start talking my brain shuts down! A 420 what? 8 inch who? Where is this Dana and her rear end you keep talking about?
  13. I asked the local LHS about ordering one, they said probably about $65.00. Buddy of mine has one, I have not seen it yet but I trust his opinion of sweeeeet! Has magnets to hold hood in place. Spoiler can be displayed closed or deployed. e got his from Hobby Search, $50+ but crazy shipping cost. ^ days from Tokyo to NC. Amazing considering whats going on there.
  14. That would be very cool and fun, I can see them working on my Chiavette now!
  15. Old surgical tools once they wear out. All manner of tweezers, hemostats, pics and prodders etc. Sometimes some nice fine mesh and plenty of various sized tubings and wires etc.
  16. I started building show cars, Red Baron, Pie Wagon etc. I went over to plabes and armor for a while, My brother built WWI biplanes and dad like ships. I love history and we took many vacations that involved aircraft museums etc. Nothing like Visiting the USS North CArolina and then building one... When I started getting back into models several years ago I was a NASCAR fan and thats all I built for quite a while, now most anything with 4 (or more ) wheels is fair game. I pretty build box stock but have started venturing out with some mild customizing. Who knows, by the time I'm 80 I might be scratch building.
  17. Just noticed this weeks Ollies warehouse ad is showing a bunch of Lindberg kits. Says they were bought from in insurance company after a fire in California destroyed a warehouse........says 60% off retail....gotta check it out, thers a couple sort of near here.
  18. Funniest thresd ever! Great timing needed to laugh tonight!
  19. Alas there will be no Doc Hudson in Cars 2
  20. It does sound like fun, especially if sveral builders can get together to to it. I really enjoy the couple times a year I can get together with a few guys and work on kits for a few hours on a Saturday, I've never tried to completely finish a kit though.....My mind is working though and I may just have to join in this weekend.
  21. Just wanted to through my opinions in the discussion too. I have read most of the commments, but not all and I'll apologze for repeatedness....thats a wird I tihnk repeatedness...repititave comments.....whatever! I am just happy we have two magazines to pick from, to like, dislike whatever, there are alot of interest grops out there that have nothing, hard print, ezine, internet forum.......what have you. Some months I love both magazines, some I dont care for a thing in either one. As mentioned there are pros and cons to each, Like I said, I'm glad there is something out there!
  22. I built mine last weekend, it was a fun build. I did some minor detail painting and just put some Future over the body parts. I've a couple other simpler kits, Ice T and T'rantula I am also looking forward to building. Reminds of when I first started in modeling. Might need to track down a Green Hornet too.
  23. I guess a little trip I took in 1993 is still something I talk about all the time. I worked in Alaska for a brief period of time and when my assignment was over, I decided to drive back to Virginia Beach, rather than just fly back. Roughly 5500 miles in a Hyundai Excel by myself. I wasn't pressed for time and stretched it out about two weeks. I traveled the entire length of the Al-Can Hyway, slept in my car one night during a September snow storm in British Columbia. Went to the cities of Edmonton and Calgary, Saw Mount Rushmore, Wall Drug and The Corn Palace and in general just had a blast! I appreciate much more now than I did then and hopefully wll repeat that trip one day.
