  1. I saw a worse one today on a customer. He got bit by a park flier prop so bad that he needed 40 stitches between his thumb and pointer finger on his left hand! Be was adjusting linkages on the plane itself while it was powered up with the motor plugged in and something moved hitting the throttle stick, throttling up the motor, causing the prop to strike him 3 times. He said the E.R. doc wasn't sure if he was going to need a specialist, but the blades managed to miss anything important inside his hand..........almost sounded like the Doc was more relieved than this customer was! I told him about a customer who runs in the Vance and Hines 1200cc spec class that laid his Harley down at over 100mph trying to qualify at Indy this summer. All but destroyed his knee cap and ground the skin on his left had down to the point they could see the tendons working! They both offered to show the pics, I thanked them for the offers, but declined both.........didn't need to see either!
  2. Yeah, he'll just stay in the same place and keep complaining............like the rest of us that live here
  3. Why is it that whenever I see pictures like that, I automatically assume alcohol is involved............lots of it.
  4. hahaha
  5. Funny you mention this. There is a thread going on NAXJA started by somebody else who was dealing with a XJ not firing in the extreme cold. Two of the older guys on there mentioned that but with a shallow metal pan with some gasoline in it under the oil pan of a 258 in powered CJ and that working like a charm, but was afraid to do so with his XJ do to a heavy layer of grease built up on the engine. The other guy said he did that witha hubcap filled with sand and gas after getting caught in a sudden freak freeze while camping in the desert in a stripped down CJ..........he made part of his drive home while wearing his sleeping bag.
  6. According to Accuweather, we're back down to -2º............but considering that's still noticeably warmer than yesterday....... Oh https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BdalbjPIEAAWZoh.jpg
  7. Oh, I know. Picked Dad up from the shop he took his company truck to for more repair work. Told Mom it nearly felt like a heat wave at 0º when I left to get him! I'l wait until we're back into the double digits and the snow is a bit less hefore I start to rejoice. Yikes, that sounds painful, hope you get over that soon, and/or get some good pain meds.
  8. And I'm quite fine with that Oh, Dad borrowed my Jeep this morning, it's been so long since he spent much time behind the wheel of an XJ in these conditions that he forgot how much easier driving in the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH is!
  9. It's 19º in Fairbanks, AK yet 2º here in Chicago...............what's wrong with this picture.................
  10. Just got a call from work, we're closing early, don't bother coming in, just lost 7.5hrs of pay. Yesterday we closed early and I only put in 4 hours, should have been another 7.5hrs for yesterday Sunday would have been 4 hours too, if I hadn't been called off. Hope we're open for Thursday and Saturday, they're the only shifts I have left this week, and those are only 6 hours each!
  11. Lol, I heard the Chiberia crack yesterday.
  12. Trust me, I'd have preferred sleeping today too, didn't sleep worth a darn last night.
  13. Like a told a friend and co-worker today, for that kinda money, that gold paint better be like buying a pint of Goldschlager, there best be real gold flakes floating in it! The strong cinnimon scent would be a nice touch for a spray paint too
  14. Dad got the Jeep started tonight, thinks the battery is loosing a cell. Took it out and ran it for over an hour to get more charge into the battery and get all the lubes up to temp since it hadn't been driven in more that 24 hours at that point.
  15. The Jeep wouldn't start, so I ended up taking the 200............which started no problem with half of the fuel being alcohol?!

  17. I'll have to try again shortly, the store manager is having the same issue. I'm getting some fuel, some spark, and it was turning over.......just not that fast. He wasn't getting any fuel!
  18. Just tried to start the Jeep, turned over, but no fire Might have too much alcohol in the 200, plus the Jeep is blocking it in.
  19. I just looked that up on Great Planes' retailer's site, they're currently showing that gold as discontinued and at $21 a can?!?!?!?
  20. Here's one to keep us warm for the next couple days!
  21. $8 a can? We usually sell them for less than $7.00?!
  22. Just spent 3-4 hours out chasing a snowblower around the property, then made a Dunkin Run for some of their hot chocolate..........I'm beat! I've spent my whole life in the Midwest too and done the whole FWD in the snow thing for several years before buying the Jeep 10 years ago.............I'll stick with the Jeep.
  23. Just ran out to get lunch for the family, this weather is the best excuse to have kept my Jeep!
  24. Looks like I'll be going out to join the neighbors in clearing the driveways instead of going to work. I was supposed to work a 12-4 shift today and got a text saying to not even bother trying to come in a few minutes ago.
