It was too late, one of my friends and co-workers almost did, I'd have tagged along if they had.

I'm closing manager at work tonight and we're open 'till 7 because of the holidays, we'll be lucky to be out by 7:45. Where is it supposed to be at?

Anybody else seen the Fast 6 DVD ad where they state that some of the sales are going to Walker's charity?
-
I saw that yesterday after getting home from the oil change mentioned in the Paul Walker. After seeing him near the end several months back, it was surprising to see him last this much longer.

Anyone else see this?

WOW, looks fantastic! I sure hope he's asking for enough money on that. -
Not only that, but if you look at the wreck that killed James Dean, that was considered his fault since he had just recieved a speeding ticket not too far from there and he was on his way yo a race in a low slung Porsche. Turns out some foresic crash investigators looked into a decade or so back and found that the colleage age kid driving the big Ford blew a sign and in the process of squashing his little silver Spyder, killed Dean and seriously hurt his passenger. Supposedly other guy never saw Dean's car as it blended in with the road a little too well. They probably want to make sure they don't make that same mistake for these guys, especially if there are other issues those cars are known for besides suddenly swapping ends with the wrong application of the skinny pedal.

Seeing as this has happened before, they probably don't want to make any mistakes that might have been made in the past. Be willing to bet it's the same for the police, they probably want to make BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH sure it was Rodas' driving that caused the wreck vs a mechanical failure or even a mixture of things.

Took my 200 in for an oil change today and the dealer had on Inside Edition, who had a segment about Walker, and they played a clip of this video.

Parachuting dead mice. What will they think of next?
Joe Handley replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well, they are dead mice packed with asprin................ -
I saw that on Yahoo the other night, a much friend made the comment that of all the celebrities out there, why was it Walker that passed, especially in that way............only thing I could think of at the time was to ask him if he was familiar with the phrase "Only the good die young.", with a heavy heart, he agreed. I do think this will become another James Dean like moment for the younger generations.

I wondered about the belts too, but have heardof wrecks that were so violent that even though belts were used, the internal injuries from the immediate stop were so bad that death still resulted. Sounds like it's pretty horrible, but probably more who ever removes the body from the vehicle since the loss of life is so quick.

Great looking build........and you're right, the timing is quite freaky!

I've got a set of each on hold at work, I really like the wheels, can't complain on the tires either, they'll look good on any late 50's/early 60's kustoms and lowriders.

I like it And remember guys, we're going into 2014, not 1964 -
What's to say they haven't tried and don't want to be involved from a respect for the dead and/or any possible legal reasons. Does seem like Porsche has a PR nightmare on their hands, and that will get worse if the investigation indicates that it was the vehicles characteristics or other problems that caused the wreck.

What did you get today...for someone else?
Joe Handley replied to LDO's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Haven't had the time or money to even start yet........... -
For some reason, I keep thinking of James Dean and his Porsche Spyder in relation to this wreck. Ken, I too have wonder about this car, 6 owners in 8 years and what sounds like well under 5k on the clock (I put similar mileage on my Jeep last winter alone), and then to find out it that these cars are difficult for even more experienced drivers (like Stig #2) to control and that this car had separate issues of it's own............... Kinda waiting for Barris to say he told Walker that this was a "bad" car like he says he warned Dean of on that Spyder.
-
Curiousity got the better of me, so I went digging on Youtube. Considering this "Stig" was still Ben Collins, he has a huge amount of racing in several different series in a number of different styles of vehicles beside doing the Top Gear Power Laps, the one he drove was giving him problems. There's something I've been seeing is that the power steering went out, wjat that resulted in, I don't know, having had power steering go away on a car that weighed less and had a whole lot less tire, I can't imagine what it has to be like in those cars.

Were those cars drive by wire or drive by cable?
