Real or Model #109 FINISHED!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Does this one actually run too? -
Texas DPS Charger is on the worbench - update 10-3
Joe Handley replied to SteveG's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks good so far, after looking at my sister's silver SE in the driveway at night, I still can believe how sinister these Chargers look....especially at night with the headlights on. I've been getting the itch to build one of the Testors kits to look like one of the NCIS Chargers.....now all I need is the time and ambition to do so -
Looks great Jim, always wondered how that car would look as a wagon!
-
Can't wait to see it Jim!

Real or Model #109 FINISHED!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I'm going to say real, don't know if it's the actual car or if it's a clone, but it certanly looks "real" to me....maybe sitting in a museum on display too. -
AMT/ROUND2 1970 1/2 Camaro Z/28
Joe Handley replied to samm1970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yea, and I'm still a bit hacked off about that thgis kit is different though because of what has been mentioned since your post. -
I wouldn't sweat it George, these guys can handle one of those

Astrovette Corvette model.

I'd buy one or two if Round2 could find the tools for it and pop out some new ones -
Is Revell watching this thread, too???
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeep Cherokee, I alone would buy how ever many I could afford and I bet if some of the people on www.NAXJA.org and www.RCCrawler.com new about this, there would be purchases there. I'd even be willing to bet that I'm not the only member of my Jeep club that would buy them too. -
Dang it gasman, I was thinking the same thing last night after discovering what this kit didn't have
-
I'm serious guys, I wouldn't be whining about it if they were there Kinda miffed to the more I think of it, how do they expect to sell a 40+ y/o kit for nearly $20 without the stuff that makes it still worth buying
-
Well this blows, I just bought that kit and it is the old issue, but without all the kustom, race and hot rod goodies
-
They should have done the 90's tooling '57 then, it's much, much nicer than the old tooling '57. Only real downside is that it doesn't have the old school kustom goodies in it like the old kit does and I'm acutually debating with my self about buying it because of those parts!
-
We just got the "new" AMT '57 Chevy kit #638 today and it looks like it will probably be the older 60's issue '57 instead of the mid 90's AMT/ERTL tooling. Am I right on that?

Just a reminder to all to be careful

Almost did that with a body reamer last year, it fell out of the cap and landed tip down on the floor next to my bare foot -
I'll tell you what I want...

That was one of the nice parts of that Pro-Line questionair, once you went to their website and contributed, the only was to contribute again was use anohter computer! -
Blacking out wheels./
Joe Handley replied to dryvr12's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Depends on the finish you want, I shot a set of chrome plated nylon RC truck rims with Pactra Window tint and had it come out better than I expected it to, should be able to do the same with Testors/Model Masters window tint or Tamiya Smoke Black if you're willing to use an airbrush. -

Here's an idea that may work too Over on RC Crawler Scott Hughes from Pro-Line Racing, a RC Car body and tire manufacturer announced that they got approval from Chrysler to produce a new Jeep body and asked the users and members at RCCRawler.com to give them some input on what kind of Jeep we wanted to see in lexan. The vast majority, much like myself would love to see a 1984-2001 XJ CHerokee while a decent CJ followed in a distant second. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=199708 -
James Dean Festival
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I went with my folks and sister a few times before she moved out and now that she has officially moved back home, we're going again next weekend, only instead of cramming things into my XJ, we're taking the Town & Country......lots more room to move in the back of that van than in my Jeep -
I'm with you on the engines Mark, I'd almost prefer to see older, Non-Chevy/Ford "Small Block" engines or even some of the new stuff that has come out of Detroit like the Northstar/Aurora V-8, LSX, Ford Modular motors, and/or Gen3 Hemi's offered as well with both EFI and Carb intakes Body wise, about the only one I wouldn't buy is the 5 window......mainly because I don't care much for how that window arrangement looks for some odd reason, be it a classic car or a modern extended cab pickup. Even though I'd almost prefer to see the resources be used for a new kit or used to fix problem kits like the Cuda AAR, the afore mentioned B400 would atleast be something that has yet to be brought to market in plastic (maybe even die cast and resin too!), but can still be easily based on this existing kit too so it's not going to be as severe a retooling as the Cuda would probably need to make decent. Just my $.02

1/12 `69 Camaro Z/28 Cross-Ram.....Huggar Orange
Joe Handley replied to Hawk312's topic in Model Cars
good god man, if it weren't for the lack of sidewall flex, I'd have sworn that orange one was a real Camaro That would have made a great "Real or Model" choice too -
Looks good, is that the Revell snap '57 kit by chance and what did you think of it?
