Mobeius 69 F100 done!!
Mr Stock replied to 665@213's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
i dont normally go for the slammed look, but this thing is awesome !, great job -
Its ironic this thread has resurfaced as my next kit on the bench is this exact kit !, although I did sell the orange plastic one and the one Im building is in grey plastic with a lot less flash interestingly.

Thanks Snake, I totally agree, the dark green colour seems to hide the shape somewhat, I did put it against a Revell 68 body on my Youtube vid and its plain and obvious then. I rememeber you mentioning you picked up one of these shells in a junkyard of Corvette parts. By the way I have the cut down screen, hardtop and all the extra bits (apart from wheels) spare if they are any use to you.

Did you really ?, that is a coincedence !, probably a couple of years ago, I always seem to think Ive had kits for a lot longer than I actually have lol . Thanks for the compliments

Spazstix chrome problem
Mr Stock replied to Mr Stock's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks to everyone for your replies, Al your method is pretty much what I used, the results were great, I still don't want to handle the parts too much, but the finish is way better than Alclad for me. You can see my efforts in "Under Glass" the Frog/AMT 68 Corvette build. -
Im pretty sure the Nomad was in last months video, looks to be a straight reissue of the late 70s offering.

Thats a very nice colour, I forgot all about those AMT snap 74 Cudas. Couple of words of advice not criticism just advice, the wheels would look great with a wash of thinned black paint, and this may not have shown up before you painted, but in your 1st photo do you see the two large sinkmarks on the trunk, a little skim of model filler, and sand flush before paint would make a big improvement there. Keep up the good work

Short history of this kit first. Frog were a very popular plastic kit producer in the UK in the 60/70s mainly concentrating on 1/72 aircraft models, but they also produced ships and some larger scale car kits. In around 1967/68 Frog collaborated with AMT for a series of 1/25 car kits, there were only around 4 or 5 produced and most of the time the decals differed from the US kits the box art was also unique. This 68 Corvette is essentially an AMT 68 annual kit, the box on mine although very well worn, has beautiful artwork on it showing a Le Mans/Sebring Corvette. Ive had this one in the stash for a long time and I thought it was about time to build one of my older kits. A lot of you already know the story behind the 1968 AMT Chevrolet kits, and that AMT didnt have the promo contract for that year, so they had to guess the look of the 68 cars without the factory backing. Let's just say the body on this Corvette has some pretty out of whack body proportions......but that didn't put me off trying to build a nice looking box stock model from the kit. Im very happy with this one, everything you see came from the kit, it has the old basic moulded detail chassis, the engine represents a 327 V8 I believe but again has accuracy issues for the year. No wiring or plumbing, just completely box stock with a Holts green rattle can paint job. The chrome was redone with spazstix, the only part Im not happy with is the break at the top of the windshield frame .....I could not get that to look ok but hey ho.... I hope you like her, comments and critique welcome. Oh and no door mirrors the kit had them but they looked awful, and until I find some suitable replacements it hasn't got them.

Great resto Steve, There's a massive satisfaction in bringing one of these oldies back from the dead, I love doing them myself.

Beautiful work Steve !

I know this subject has been brought up time and again, but Im after a little advice here please. I am a first time user of Spazstix and I tried it out last night on a bumper from a vintage 68 Corvette kit, the bumper itself was stripped of the old chrome, all mold lines cleaned and then shot with a very glossy coat of Tamiya TS14 black spray. The finish I got from the Spazstix was very impressive, however and this is my question, I handled the part after about an hour or so and I noticed the finish was coming off pretty quick, now Ive heard that S/stix is more resilient than say Alclad but should I have let it dry for say 24-48 hours?. Plus is it ok to use the TS14 gloss black as a basecoat or is it best to use their own black backer?. I used the airbrush version of S/stix as we cannot get the spray can version in the UK at all. Thanks Gary

Im guessing its a reference to the innacurate silly errors on the bodies/parts of the 90 Mustang, 70 Cuda and the 67 Camaro. In which case yeah the tyres I can live with Lol

tamiya vs revell paints
Mr Stock replied to stulee11's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya paints can be a bit tempremental when brush painting I generally get pretty good results though, the best acrylics for brush painting are the Vallejo Model Color range they are very nice to use. -
Im an assistant manager at a car motor factors, not a big chain just a local company with 5 branches, Ive been working in the motor trade all my working life so far (24 years) except for a brief spell on a construction site when I left school.
