  1. The photos are great, but trust me ... if you have not seen this model in person, you cannot truly understand the spectacular nature of this incredible model! John has always produced outstanding models, but this one puts them all away. Unfreakinbelievable!
  2. Purchased one last week at LHS. Good issue.
  3. As others have suggested, this is one of the last places on earth (or the internet) an identity thief or vandal will look to find you. Much ado about nothing. I have no axe to grind with you, Rick-whoever-you-are-if-you-really-are-Rick, but be careful what you wish for. You've just poked the owner of the forum in the proverbial eye and have essentially required your own banishment. The simplest caveat: Play by the rules or do not play.
  4. Excellent tutorial; great ideas, great techniques! Thanks for sharing.
  5. I like the BFG T/As, Al. Nice stuff.
  6. Aw, man! The glitter was growing on me.
  7. Very nice looking kit and an interesting subject. Looks like there might be another Dart in my future!
  8. Real men don't need instruction manuals!
  9. Who is Naught? I thought you worked for Gregg.
  10. NICE!!!!
  11. No awards? No peoples choice? No best in show? No nothing? How many entrants would still attend? Probably close to ... none!
  12. What Mark said ~~ check the story on Mark Gustavson's website. I don't believe there is even one true NNL any more. They've all - or virtually all - morphed into people's choice contests. Then there was a good-natured satirical phantom NASCAR model, the Nameless National Lumina.
  13. You are not the only one, Elwood. One answer to my question is: "Maybe." The answer to your musical question is: "Twenty-five, or six-to-four!"
  14. Existentialist Question: But how do we all really know what our real name really is? I mean, really?
  15. Yeah, but wait until those fun-loving, thrill-seeking, free-spirit, devil-may-care girls and young women put about 40 years and 75 pounds on those trendy tattoos! (Guys, too.) I don't think those tats will be all that attractive. I've seen a lot of really old women running around with nasty body art. It ain't pretty, folks! Unlike that flourescent green Reliant station wagon with velour upholstery and an 8-track that "seemed like a good idea at the time," you can't just trade in those tats for clean unblemished skin when you emerge from the fog of the trend. Not condemning anyone's free choice, just my 2-cents worth. And guess what? (Full disclosure.) No, I don't have any tats or pieces of iron pipe in my lobes. My appearance is bad enough as delivered; no point in 'enhancing' it any worse! LOL.
  16. Gregg, No formal club meetings then; Moonlight meetings are 07-17 and 08-21, Cactus (spinoff of Moonlight) is tonight and Wed. 08-11 (at Casa Baker) if you'll be around the extra few days you are more than welcome. However, many of the guys who you know from Moonlight will be hanging around the IPMS vendor expo/swap meet. We can certainly arrange a get-together. Let's see what we can put together.
  17. Hmmmmm.
  18. Well, it kinda looks like ... but it isn't. And it sorta looks like ... but, no, not that either. Then again it really appears to be a ... nah, I don't think so afterall. But it almost has to be a ...
  19. Amen, Gabe! I couldn't live without mine! And, while assembling all those high-tech tools, don't overlook the real basics: toothpicks, bamboo kebob skewers, clothespins, small clamps, masking tape, sanding sticks, some 5-minute epoxy, Super Clean or Purple Power, and Westley's BlecheWhite.
  20. You gotta quit posting so much, so I can catch up. I've only got 336 to go.
  21. You're absolutely right. There's no "a" between the "t" and the "y" of Marty (pronounced MAR-tee). But there is a big, long "A" between the "T" and the "Y" of Martay! (pronounced Mar-TAY!; rhymes with partay!).
  22. It's Halloween in July! I wondered what you were going to come up with next, to top that Edsel! Seriously, looking good, Mr. Martay!
  23. Yup. One of my 'favorite' (NOT) buzz-word/catch-phrase modernday pronouncements of those who cannot or will not formulate and express a well-reasoned concept of their own. Often appropro, I thought it had a place in this multi-hijacked thread about thread hijacking. Call me prophetic. Or pathetic. Your call.
  24. Rather than 'functional' I use the term 'realistic' to describe what I strive for. I want a model to look as much like a realistic miniature vehicle as possible. I do not want it to look like a toy or a small cartoon. To me, a model is successful when it looks like a tiny 1:1; the more it does, the better. I get a kick out of seeing peoples' reactions to killer builds, whether mine or those of others. It's great to see someone blown away by the accuracy of a hand-crafted miniature. The ultimate compliment is to have a model described as looking just like the real thing.
