  1. What do the tail lights look like on the 67?
  2. Thanks everyone! Here is some of the interior modifications. I had to shave off the back and lower edge of the door panels to move them inboard a little bit more. Especially towards the back. It was the only way to fit it between the doors of the body, but that also closed up the gap between the convertible panels and the rear seat. Unfortunately the convertible boot does not cover the area where the convertible top folds down into. I guess technically it should be wider. And then the arms extended a little further toward the doors. Think I’m going to need more reference material with that. In the meantime, I’m considering an up top For the convertible. I had to shave off very little on the side of the dashboard to bring the door panels in slightly. overall it doesn’t look too bad, save for the convertible boot. Comments and suggestions very welcome. If you have any good pictures of the top up or convertible boot on one of these 68-70 B-bodies, I would love to see them!
  3. Cool color combination!??
  4. I bought a couple Jo-han 1969 Road Runners off eBay in recent weeks. This one in particular was more of a glue bomb than the other. So much glue was used to secure the glass that it melted the roof. I figured it would be a prime candidate for a convertible conversion. I picked up the AMT GTX convertible from Hobby Lobby, they conveniently reopened last week! I started by cutting out the tulip panel including tops of the quarter panels around the rear section of the interior. I had to narrow it a little bit at one of the natural seams. Then re-contour to match the shape of the deck lid. I removed the windshield surround from the GTX including the tops of the fenders and doors for added strength. Plus I kinda like the cowl shape better than Jo-han’s There are couple spots to sand, but it’s pretty much were I want it. I spent six hours, in a model car hang out online last night, fitting the interior. I will post those pictures a little bit later.
  5. This one has been sitting for about 7 years. It’s a replica of my friend’s car.... that he has since sold.?‍♂️? I molded in the nose and painted it B5 Blue. I need to add the A pillar wind deflector on the driver’s side. The hood has been glued in place, so no engine. This is the Jo-han kit. Time to “Gitter done”
  6. My neighbor had one of those in that color in the 70s and 80s! By the end of the 80s it was a real rat. Rotted to death!?
  7. Very cool idea! I have a few sedan delivery 58s kicking around. Maybe I’ll do the same!??
  8. Hey Snake, I built this using about 4 pictures from a 1990’s calendar. Unfortunately I haven’t seen it in years. This was painted in 1999. I stated earlier in this post that the 1958 Impala is my favorite. A don’t like many of them customized. But I was intrigued by this one!?
  9. Nice project! I have a resin kit I need to get to.
  10. No worries! I’m not offended.?? We all have our own tastes. I admire you building something you don’t particularly care for!
  11. Dang! The 58 is my Favorite! ? I’ll be watching!
  12. The grills are the same. My concern about Plastruct chrome was the shape of the chrome at a point at the cove, and the step b the chrome. Plus getting the cove scoops to be open like it is on the other kits.
  13. Here is a pictorial for anyone who wants to backdate Revell’s 1962 Corvette into a 1961. This was my second attempt at doing this conversion. The first one came out fine, but final assembly was a bit of a chore. The reason being, when I did the first conversion, I sectioned two bodies in half and married the two together. Using the front half of a 58 Corvette in the back half of the 62. It looked OK even after paint. The problems arose when trying to install the grill and bumperetts. All of the 62 front chrome work did not interchange with the 58 body without sanding out all of the openings. So the second time around, I only swapped out the sides. Although I haven’t installed the chrome work yet, test fitting was perfect.
  14. Are you going to do a 61 conversion? If so I can post pictures of mine. Love the Cragers and wide whites!
  15. BOYD project number 2 completed. Dad’s Dream is realized. Im really happy with this model! I tried building a replica of this car in the late 80’s with AMT’s kit but it didn’t work out. Revell’s 62 is beautiful and goes together like a dream. The decals were made on the HP 524 with white ghost cartridge.
  16. you need an HP254DW printer and the white cartridge that goes in place of the black one. The white cartridge is quite pricey. As much as a refurbished printer. $200+ I got everything for MicroMark
  17. Last night I was in an online group build/chat session for another 6 or 7 hours! Made some major progress on the 62 Corvette. I had set up my new printer earlier this week and printed out the white lettering for the front fenders. This is one layer of decals on the front fender. This would be great for putting a color over the lettering to do maybe let’s say red or blue. But it’s a straight white I thought it could be a little brighter especially on a black car. So I decided to lay another set of decals over top. Before I matched up the registration, it occurred to me that they looked very much like the picture I took back in 1980!? Unfortunately, the original picture I took in 1980 had total camera shake!?‍♂️ The picture below shows two layers of decals. I think they look much better. I go back to work tomorrow morning for two weeks, 24/7. I hope to get this one done in the next few hours before I have to pack!
  18. You’re right, it would be nice if the 69 had the vinyl top. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did one year have chrome trim along the bottom too?
  19. My next BOYD project is this 1962 Corvette. I painted this one in November 2018. It was to be a replica of a Corvette I photographed back in 1980! I was 12 years old. My parents house backs up to the parking lot of the West Islip high school. From my bedroom I would always check out the parking lot to see if they were any interest in cars. I spotted this Corvette and grabbed my camera and ran across the parking lot and took some pictures. From running all that way, I guess it made my handshake and the pictures did not come out so well. But I put them in a photo album anyway and always wanted to build a model of that car. With the 62 Corvette being issued by Revell, I thought it was time to give it a go. So I paint the body and then went to my apps printer to print out the decals for the fenders. But I could not get my apps to play with any of my computers anymore. MicroMark came out with a white cartridge for an HP printer last year. I bought it in October of last year but hadn’t set it up until a couple days ago. I printed out the decals and I’m ready to roll again!
