I went back and looked at the thread. The first two posts were fine and were about never forgetting 9/11. The next 6 were about the evil and soulless people in the world. That is why it was removed, the floodgates had already been opened. Threads about Memorial Day or Veterans Day tend to stay focused on the veterans and the lives that were lost, not about specific political parties or religions. I have been a mod here for awhile and have a decent (not perfect) feel for how certain topics will go. Both of these would have gone very bad, which is sad.

Then when we ban folks or put them on moderation, we have to go through 20 rounds of messages about how their post wasn't this or that, and how we are out to get them. So really, we are tired of the same old, same old and stop it sooner rather than later. Some of you have been here long enough to know what the rules are, but you still like to test the boundaries. This area is provided for your use so that you may possibly connect with other members on something other than models. There are rules associated with this area, follow them. We don't have to provide it and honestly, our jobs would be so much easier if we didn't have to constantly police it.

I play games off and on. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, WoW, and just started playing old Warhammer 40k games.

Just a reminder, that Car Show photos have their own section. This section is for cars you see, on the road, while out and about.

I think that was taken out of the software, but will poke around a bit later today when I get home from work.

On the desktop version, there is a flyout menu in the search bar that lets you change where you want to search. I think it defaults to "This Topic" when doing a search. You can change that before you search and we are looking to see if we can change the default. On mobile (iPhone) there are additional options when you click the search icon.

We have discussed updating those. Just need to see what our options are, that do not cost more money.

All you need to do is prepare for the widespread brown/ blackouts. That should happen within the first week AI has substantial control of our everyday lives. Power will he the first commodity that the private citizens will lose.

Well first off, the government will take half. I will take half of my half and put in a savings account. I would take half of the remaining half of my original half and put in a checking account. The last bit would get divided between friends and family. The money in savings should generate enough interest to live on. The money in checking is enough for me to do just about whatever I would want to do. I do not need a mansion or a bunch of luxury cars. A few “driver” muscle cars and a place to put them would be just fine.

This site perfectly shows the trouble we have putting things into their own categories. Since they are Short Track and NASCAR specific, they have broken those sections down to various sub-forums. ALL other cars are in one forum and ALL other trucks are in another. MCM is a general automotive modeling forum, with a focus on cars and trucks. We break those into sub-forums and have split racing forums down into a couple sub-forums, with NASCAR getting it's own because it is the most active. NOT just a single racing forum for everything. We cannot accommodate everyone's desire to have a separate sub-forum for everything. We are probably going to rename a few areas and add clearer descriptions so folks can more easily determine where to post.

We generally do not delete old photos or posts. Like Peter said, it makes old threads nearly useless. If you want something removed, you need to reach out to a moderator and have a really good reason why you want it removed.

We discussed possibly leaving the Wanted section as free to use, but the remainder of the Marketplace as a paid tier. There are pros and cons to every scenario.

At one time, I was asked to teach a portion of the design aspect of the fire sprinkler trade to a class at a trade school in Baltimore, MD. I wasn't able to do it, but I did help the instructor with a course outline and quiz that reflected the decisions we, as designers, had to make while doing our job. As time has passed, I have found it more difficult to find people wanting to do what I do. Most of the ones we do find, don't want to put the effort in to become good at what we do. Short Term - Great for me personally, I can get paid more for my experience (42 years) and can continue to get paid to do it on the side when I retire. Long Term - Few people to take my place when I retire. It is possible that AI may eventually be able to do what I do, but it will lack the ability to go to a construction site and figure out specific problems.

We will never please everyone. There is always going to be someone who says they are never going to use the board again. We are getting ideas and will discuss pros and cons of any change we make. If we open everything up to a poll, we will more than likely still only get a small percentage of registered members to participate. There have been a few new voices in this thread, that is good to see. Most of the time it is the same small group of vocal members who participate. We know that there is a downside to any change that is made. We have to try and make the best informed decisions that we can that helps the long term outlook of this board.

It is still just being discussed, nothing firm yet. If we had a free trade section, there would be people trying to use it to circumvent the minor yearly fee to use the paid area. That is the nature of a lot of folks in our hobby.

We have been discussing making the Marketplace one of the premium areas and allowing buying and selling. There would probably need to be an extra set of rules for this area that members would need to acknowledge before being allowed to use it.

How else can you continually receive government money for road repairs, if you don’t design the need for road repairs into your road repairs.

We have discussed forcing ad blockers to be turned off. There are options in most ad blockers to allow them to be disabled on sites you list. Free would be a slight inconvenience, but still free.

One of the big things we are discussing is offering a paid tier to go ad free, except for ad space we may sell to model companies (if we get that far). The free tier would have ads and probably require that ad blockers be disabled. We have discussed limiting the number of photos (per post, not per day) based on tier. We have also discussed changes to the Marketplace and who has access to it. All discussion, nothing concrete yet.

Look for the Doyusha kit. It is a simple curbside but it might work for you.

The search function in the software is not something we have a lot of control over. The best way to find things is to use tags, but that is criminally underused.

Click on you avatar and go to your page, click find content, and the on the left hand side click forums-topics. That should only list topics you started.
