I don't necessarily build for money... if someone wants me to build them a model I just ask for the price of the model and maybe paint.

Graveyard cars didn't want to admit that it wasn't a factory dodge color. Mark is such a purist that when they were rebuilding the 2005 Movie car he didn't want to put the chevy color (flame red code 78) WB specifically used that color on all the 05 Movie cars. They ended up going with the AMC color Big Bad Orange... which I asked Al at a DOH reunion years ago and he confirmed that it was a combination of Flame Orange (Corvette)and Big Bad Orange (AMC). He said they had to mix the colors together often times to have enough paint to paint the cars. WORMan hates Ford and Chevy. I like everything on wheels and I understand that the show specializes in Mopar, what I can't understand is closeminded people that in a way are Brand racists. I'll watch the show now and then but I can't tolerate that Mark guy... I'd watch more often if he wasn't on the show... I love all brands.

Yes, even though both kits are 25th scale the Revell car is slightly bigger... I added the brace between the fenders on the hatchback to push them out for a closer fit. Then I assembled the front ends to the bodies with welders glue. Next I'll be adding filler to merge the panels so they are a closer fit. Probably won't be 100% but... meh. Lol! I try not to take myself to serious. or I'd never finish anything. On the notch car I was unable to get the smaller GT parts to fit closer so I just "bonked" them onto the body. I'm hoping with a little filler work it'll look better. I'm thinking I may have a spawn for a resin project if there is a need for a Foxbody GT Notch. They look pretty tough I think.

!!!!! ????? Nice to be Appreciated huh Dwayne? I know I'm appreciated on the fourm from all the comments and the validation is just as valuable as seeing members work on all the cool models. The Nova looks great and those wheels and hubcaps are perfect for the project. Keep up the great work!

Wow! Beautiful weathering! Very impressive! That fire barrel reminds me of my childhood, we had neighbors that would burn their trash in the backyard... Also when are you gonna do a diorama of the 1.1 with the snow like in the picture? That would be cool!

I have to give credit to BeakDoc for this idea. I think it's a great idea to do a roll call for ALL the General Lee's. KWT, you were the inspiration so I'd love to see yours here too! Here is my current one I built a few years back but I have more to build as well. Thanks!

Wow! You may have just changed my mind on the Build! I'm not a mustang guy either but if I had this one I'd be!

Actually I looked into that and desided that if it were going into my own collection I'd spring for it. The problem is the guy has no idea about the cost or what it takes to build one. He simply wants a model of his real car. So I'm trying to get the best result for the least amount of time and money. Greg and Mike do great resin work and those kits are worth the $40 but if I hit the guy with that price he'd probably tell me to keep it. Lol! You've probably met people who just don't understand the hobby... It's changed alot over the years. it's not as simple as they think it is... (aftermarket detail companies and resin companies). and this dude isn't any different than the next guy clueless about the details. I'll build this and get the same reaction from him as if I built the resin car because he doesn't know the difference. Lol!

The parts are a decent fit, I'll have to do some trimming and filling. But it will work out I think. The other thing is the side trim is a perfect fit and actually looks good on the notchback. I've desided to build both cars simultaneously. If anyone has any ideas for the color choices on the notchback like mis-matched bodypanels I'm open to ideas. I was thinking as a base maybe the blue on the box with red or burgandy bumpers, white passenger fender, grey fiberglass hood... and yellow where the paint has sun baked off the plastic and weathering (peeling paint) on the metal like that old sealer ford used to use.

Thanks Joe, those rear tires are mickey thompson drag radials. The tires were in the pinto wagon. Mpc "Ford mini van"... but I've had a few of those kits and I only had one that had the tires in the kit? all were sealed except one, the kit these tires were in was a sealed kit. I'm not sure if you will find them in the Mpc wagon or not? I'm sure someone will know if they were used in other Mpc kits. The letters on the sidewall are a tad "sticky-outty" but they are hollow so the mustang wheels fit great. The front tires are from the mustang. I'll take a better pic of the tires so you can see the center grooves "street slicks" and the side walls too.

Well, here's my next Project! I've taken on a build that first seemed pretty simple... build a 90 ish Mustang GT Hatchback for my central air furnace repair guy. Easy enough... I like building 1.1 subjects and this guy digs my work so it's a win win right? It wasn't until he texted me pictures when I had a feeling that I'd bit off more than I could chew. I had to wrap my head around the car to use and then finding that kit. It took awhile to track the kit down, but Thanks to a loyal member here on the fourm I was able to secure a favorable kit. (Thanks so much, Zenon, you're a lifesaver.) Now I can keep my word and build the proper scale replica that I said I could. I can say that I am out of my lane with this kit but with a little research I've found that two kits will be needed to get accurate results. Any help/suggestions along the way will be greatly appreciated. You folks are good about lending support with tips and ideas. Thanks in advance. For now the first order of business will be swapping the front bumper/grill and rear bumper and taillight assembly. I think I'll build the notchback (Revell cop car) with GT equipment (phantom?) So I won't ruin a body. It will be fun to build a rough and tough LX with GT parts from the Local junkyard. Kind of a Redneck budget GT wanna-be. A Daily-driver, kind of a Big dreams with empty pockets owner. We all know guys like that. So it will be weathered with multi colored panels, fading, and any thing that says I care but my lack of money and resources are limited. Speaking of which, do I build the hatchback with weathering (as pictured) or build it as the restored Dream car he wishes it would be? I guess my decision will be made the further I get along with the build. So here goes! Check back for updates. Thanks for looking!

The General will always be known as the most iconic T.V. star car. If you're an auto enthusiast or model builder you have built a copy once or twice or if you're like me then you've built many. This is a beautiful example... and you can tell there was thought put into it rather than just building it box stock. I like looking back on models I've built 20 years ago and seeing the evolution. We get better and better with every model. The old kit looks nice too but I can see an improvement between the two and it's awesome to see how far you've come with your skills.

No, mine only has the one set... you must've got doubles... Good to know the problems in advance. Like I stated before, I need to decide if I want pretty paint or patina. I've never built the truck. I've had about 6 but never stuck glue to any until now. -
This looks so good! And I totally understand other priorities thing. I have what I call Modeling A-D-D myself. I can't walk by my stack without pulling something down. Lol!

I'm building this kit currently and have already painted/weathered it... this is making me second guess and regret doing so... I may have to strip mine and go with more of a better paint job... I have a question though, didn't the decal sheet have 3 different Chevrolet colors for the tailgate? Including white... I wonder why you painted the letters instead of using the decals? I'm asking because I haven't tried them yet. Wondering if they are difficult to get in place they look seperate... just wondering? -
Thanks espo... that bumper and the hood grill inserts with "heartbeats" were part of the Custom issue. I used the top of another tailgate to make the rollpan, and it worked perfectly. There were 4 different issues when that truck was in production. 3 stock and 1 Custom... I wished Round 2 would bring it back. It would be cool with colored glass and revived decal sheet, maybe add the soapbox derby car? Yeah, it's a head scratcher to me why the kit hasn't been repopped. I've built at least 20 myself...was my first ride... I've owned 2 and love the bodystyle. A longbed would be cool to see on the truck also.
