  1. Here is everything in the box... the cool thing about this kit is yes it does have two complete sets of wheels and tires... If you're not into wide whites and chrome reverse steelies then use the stock wheels or kit bash the thing. If you guys are like me you have plenty of kits to rob from anyway. I have a 57 Chevy that I plan on robbing the wheels and tires from this kit for. I have no complaints with it. I'll be building the orginal version when Kenickie first brings it to the shop anyway so I don't need to waste those beautiful custom wheels on a beater build...
  2. Our local club meet was today and the challange was to take a pre loved model and redo it. One of our members supplied the kits from a hoard that he had accqruied... there were some rough barn find style build ups in the pile. There were many to choose from this 40+ year collection. It was a fun challange. There are some that haven't quite made it back yet but I'll show the "Not so Under Glass" pics anyway... The Nomad was the only one not from that collection, it was given to me as a personal challenge to restore after it was kicked around for 5 years as a stalled project. After I kept saying I'd like to try my hand at improving and completing, It finally landed on my bench. The 69 camaro was the one I picked from the collection and I've already added it here in a seperate post. I'll try to show before and after photos but most are during. Thanks for looking...
  3. Good looking car!
  4. I think my 49 is gonna be a land speed car after I get the 55 done... I'm rollin on it now, bodywork and paint is done. I have most of the decals on too. These pics kinda give away the final reveil but I like how it turned out so I desided to share with you guys here. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  5. No problem... I would've liked to see the Rockin Roller decals in the kit as well as some Drag car names... very little Product development went into the decal design I think these fall short... But I'm not worried too much... I plan on doin a Rockin Roller with dark bronze paint and gold leafing decals. Also a gold 1.1 used to run around in my town when I was a kid... I have a memory of seeing it broke down on the side of the road and the front was tilted like the kit! (No hole in the hood though)...Gold with red and yellow goofy 80's stripes. It was Awesome.... I want to build a replica of that from my memory... Had Cragers, air shocks and black diamond tuck interior...(Seen it sittin at the Taste Freez parking lot once and got a chance to peak inside.) 4 speed too with reverse lockout shifter... I'd like to have it like that... I was one impressed 12 year old... ?
  6. I have a 49 convertable I'm kicking around on the bench, I found it in a bunch of junk. not really a stalled project rather than an abandoned model kit, thinking about doin something with it but it's missing a bunch of parts... I might be able to save it by the end of the year. Any ideas what I could do with it? what you see is what I have...
  7. I got the kit over the weekend and I really like it... I'm just one guy though lol! The wheels and tires are my favorites... I think I'm gonna do the 1st version of the movie car... Before they fixed it up... The decals are really neat too. I think it's worth having...
  8. the 57 is the same as it would've been when the Rockin Roller was issued back in the mid 70's?. It does have the Straight axel opposed to the dropped straight axel like the molded Red kit had, so that's a plus. The kit is still as cool as I remember it, I love it.
  9. Kinda cool decal sheet but If you're planning on building the gasser you won't have any of the frontend parts to make it, as the kit is just the street machine version only. The 2-tone green version (millennium addition) has the straight axel and all those goodies that the AMT 55 Nomad has. Also I heard the centerline wheels would be plated this go round but they are not. Otherwise a good kit to return to production.... Also the Spirit of 57 Tilt car is back, nice to see it return as well here are the contents of it...
  10. Thanks to everyone for all the positivity. I think what helped the build move so fast was the fact that the body wasn't painted. thankfully the orginal Yenko was molded in yellow. I have built every version of the Revell Camaro since 1990 and here is some breif history surrounding the car. At the time the Revell-Monogram merger happened, the team knew they wanted a 1/25th camaro based on the 1/12th car. They worked hard to get the car released so fast... about 18 months from the initial proposal and plan albeit they already had the format with the 1/12th car. There are some differences between the two but by comparison they're the same car. They're actually two versions of the blue Z28 one with the RS Grill emblem and then in an effort to correct their nearly perfect kit, a new grill was tooled without the RS badge due to consumer complaints and reports that the Z28 with the RS package didn't have that emblem. It's hard to find that grill nowadays because when the convertable was anounced the RS grill tooling was modified for the SS emblem. I was also excited to see the Pace car convertable anounced in 1994. The decal sheet was outsourced and was a bad call as the company tried to use silver leaf backing and this caused the decals to disintegrate in water. This mistake was corrected about a year later however the initial sales were effected when word got around. The kit didn't have good sales until the box art was changed and the Pace car curse was lifted. I have learned little tricks to improve on perfection like sanding the back from the grill to open it up. The dash is smooth all the way to the windshield but if you trim off where the pad meets the actual dash on the real car and add styrene sheet to the back it makes the pad more realistic. The firewall has two tiny flat spots where the hoses would go into the heaterbox, they can be drilled and hose can be run for an extra detail. The doors are easy to open on this kit as well. I could go on and on but I think I'll start an On the workbench thread soon and show all my techinques.
  11. I'm trying some sprayouts just to see what I like... this is Blue Galaxie sprayed over Daytona yellow... if you want blue pearl on any color try this.. the can's directions says spray over black bacecoat but what's the fun in following directions... lol! anyways here is the body with the first coat of primer, It's got a ways to go but I'll get it!
  12. The "ET" Rat Rod is Awesome... It looks ready to display... The Lowmad paint scheme is cool but I'm not gonna copy the look exactly. I'm building my own Nomad drag car so I have some different colors and fades in mind. The decal sheet show silver trim around the top for those fender bulges so I cut the tops off some custom skirts from a 49/50 ford. they seem to have the same shape... bodywork, bodywork, bodywork. The decals also have a painted grill and headlights so I filled those areas in as well. the details are mostly in those decals...a shout out to Slixx decals, they rock... I will be adding some of my decals too, like that 55 Chevy hood crest on the front and marker light decals. Some of my color choices are 50's aqua, Daytona yellow, Purplelicous, Charcoal grey and Firey orange. I'll have to do some sprayouts to see which contrast the best.
  13. Oooo, That's gonna be pretty!
  14. Thanks Guys! Yes I agree, It's my favorite model kit ever made... The paint is Mystic emerald by Testors And to me it does look like Kelly green or Rally green depending on year... and those wheels although not my favorite are a specific choice due to the fact that I've built so many with every wheel and tire imaginable lol... And these wheels are popular among the Drag racing community, Kamikaze has them the Elco...
  15. Here is My "Street Outlaws" style Street Racer... Johnny Cash sang "Bad News travels like wild fire"... So I'm callin this Big Block, duel quad, ProStreet 69 Camaro The Bad News Camaro... I got this as a build up 3 weeks ago... and rebuilt it as fast as I could lol! These revell 69 camaros are in my wheelhouse as I've lost count on how many I've built. The old superstition is you don't paint a race car green so that's why I did it... "Now Go get that money" Hope you like it... The first pic is how I got it...
  16. Oh No! Is it just me or does that look like ET's Skull? Let's just say it's one of his relatives... lol! long live ET!
  17. I've been working on polishing the Double cab dodge and it is turning out better than I thought... I was inspired by special edition movie themed cars/trucks like the Bumblebee camaro from Transformers and The Nova Shark from Jaws. So I've built the Dodge Predator. Special Addition, 1987 Dodge with Phantom Predator logos.
  18. Good on you for not taking the easy way out... I resently seen the resin example at our local slot car track (they sell models which is why I was trere). Someone had turned it into a slot car. Yours is better than the resin car for sure. I think these type builds makes for better modeling experiences.
  19. I'm about to wrap up the camaro tomorrow odd and ends to do and It'll be finished... Then I'll be turning my attention full time on the Promad nomad. My decals came in the mail today so I'm eager to get serious on that one. Here is the camaro transformed...
  20. Nice Job on the Septic truck, Great use of raw materials... the scratchbuilding looks like it was built from the box... I love it!
  21. The MDA show in Roanoke Va. has a Class based on this challange... Their rules are rather limited also. I plan on building something for the 2019 show next year... I have a go to kit that I've learned little tricks to improve it by using nothing but the parts in the box. I've built probably 50 over the years...So I'll be up for whatever is desided upon. I feel like the rules should be you can only use supplies nessasary to build the kit... such as paint, glue, sandpaper, and maybe BMF/Molotow chrome pen since they are kinda in the same catagory. Everything else is supplied in the kit and you should be able to use your imagination for the rest. Just to give you an example...parts spur is your friend.. ? Another suggestion is if you feel like you will struggle then pick a 3 in 1 kit, the more options you have the better off you'll be.
  22. The way I see it... The challange is just to get something finished by the end of the year. Holidays and cold weather (for me) is a big hurdle. I'd go with it... No judgements, and no cheaters?
  23. YAAAAYY!
  24. Nice, and the Sunbeam is a good choice also. I'll pray for nice weather for you.. that's a good one...
