  1. Ok Today was a successful paint day. I got the body prepped... sanded all the mold lines out, and washed. Primered then basecoated it silver and came back with a nice coat of Wimbledon white. I think this color is closest to Monogram Cream. It's off white like the original molds. Decals, clearcoat, and then some polishing are my next steps...
  2. Lol! Rumors are flying that Revell may in fact do a Baldwin motion addition once the new wears off the "Stock" version... Meanwhile, I'm loving this build!
  3. I knew from the moment you announced this project it was gonna be special... I bet you wish that vinyl top was molded on out of the box... It sure looks that way now... way easier to remove it than to add it on I'd bet. I think I'm gonna send you mine and let you handle that top for me ? lol....
  4. Wow! Beautiful! Box art builds are my favorite, just how they envisioned it..
  5. Here are the Spyders close up... they are from the newly re-released 79 Trans Am... I like these wheels... The fronts are from the LAPD pro stock camaro. (they're in need of replating) They'll be close enough to the Centerline looking wheels that were on the Monogram kit. I'd like to see Revell make the Tel-stars for some new kit like a street version of the 68 Chevelle. Here are some comparisons to the real wheels and model wheels. I think they're close in likeness.
  6. I don't know what you guys are talking about, I see a nice Camouflage build here! ???? These emojis best describe how I'm feeling! But seriously I can totally see it!
  7. Great idea! And it looks like you've been doing it all along!
  8. Thanks James... I'm getting done slowly but I have plenty of tips and tricks for this kit yet to post... Stay tuned lol...
  9. Thanks Jacob... My inspiration comes from the guys on here so it's nice to know that I can pass it on somehow... I do think we are better modelers when we have an audience...
  10. Both Vans are progressing nicely!
  11. There isn't one that I know of... I cut this one and tilted it myself. ?
  12. That works well too! That's actually how I first started doing it, then I discovered there was plenty of room under the dash to stuff the styrene.
  13. Hey All, I just wanted to quickly update on what's going on here at the "Looney Bin" I have another trick, tip, improvement or what have you to show on this model kit... It's pretty simple, all you need is flat styrene and a sharpie... The actual car has a seperate dash pad so to give the stock dash a 3D effect I just cut the dash where the pad is and add some flat plastic underneath... It's a nice detail when finished. Have a good day...
  14. Thanks! That's the look I was goin for, all the colors I thought of painting it are kinda current now so the tan was a last miniute choice. I was going to go 50's aqua but I could see myself wanting to change that sooner than later... Also I didn't clear coat the hood yet because I still want to add hood stripes simular to these. I just didn't have time to design them before the deadline. In the last pic you can see the difference with and without clear but I'll get it done soon... just so many projects on the bench right now...
  15. I'm planning on joining the Vannonball too... I just have to narrow down some choices before I get started. It's neat to see everybody elses choices also... all the posts so far have been inspiring me... Initially I was thinking about The Gas Monkey Tequila Van since Richard is an actual record holder himself... but I really have this idea for a cab forward panel van also. Who knows right now though? I'll think on it for a little while more...
  16. Great Idea... and a clever way to combine the theme with the challange!
  17. Those pics would motivate me to finish for sure! Looks fantastic!
  18. SNL is the best! I thought it was hilarious when I seen your van! There is the guy in Canada on YouTube He says "Yeah Bud" alot and Curses funny as Hell... my son follows him on there He has the exact van you're building only it's red says free candy on the side too!
  19. Dead Builds Challange Blazer I Gotter Done before 2019! It's been part of my collection for 25+ years and I've rebuilt it a number of times... I may or may not redo it agian but this 70's theme is ok for now. I'm gonna start tryin to find another one I think...Thanks for looking! Have a Happy and Safe New Year!
  20. Here is the Finished project... It's an Off the Grid, High Terrain, 70's inspired 4X4 Blazer with all the upgrades to take you high into the mountains... Thanks for looking, Happy New Years & Be safe!
  21. Bring it on! It's Done! More Pictures will be in the Under Glass trucks section soon. First pic was from yesterday at 2 pm.
  22. Does this mean there's No Free Candy now? ☹ Boooo! Boo... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3Da1xFlkHh3wg&ved=2ahUKEwjBip-hssrfAhVPo1kKHbIRCRoQuAIwAHoECAgQAg&usg=AOvVaw1sugdRdw_aFqP6xr5WfNuL
  23. I'm comin in HOT Boys! It's gonna be an all nighter but I may pull it off just yet! Clearcoat, glass, interior, & small details but I see the finish line just over the Horizon! See ya tomorrow!
  24. Very True! as with any advancements throughout the past 50 years... Look at automakers since 68. compare a 1968 to a 2018... Even though Nostalgia is worth way more with the experience, the comfort, driveability, and technology is far more superior... 50 years is a lot of time to make something better lol... I'll build both and be equally happy... I've got an Amt Chevelle (Stalled project).I think it's time to haul it out... Thanks...
  25. Merry Christmas... Some of us live on here it seems and when we don't hear from our members it's like family that have moved out of the state and we can't visit whenever we want lol... Happy Holidays and drop in with updates whenever you can... Thanks!
