  1. Choppin, cuttin, and grindin on this turd... l filed off all the mold lines, driprails, rubber moldings, and bodylines. I have to say I am satisfied on the height of the top and windows overall it's not too bad, if I can get the bodylines and details re-shaped I think I can save this cab...
  2. Well done! I've enjoyed seeing all the CBR entries... this is one of my favorites!
  3. I dumped all my old photos by accident last year But I did find this photo of the first chop. Where I sectioned the doors as you can see the chop on the top wasn't drastic enough. Some of the club members stated that it really didn't look chopped at all that's why I started over. Not to mention the cab and frame would not fit with the sections out of the doors. So do not cut the doors.
  4. Wow! These are some great explanations and steps to chop this cab. I should've posted here before cutting up the first one! I sectioned the doors on the first Cab and quickly learned that was not the way to go as the cab would no longer fit the chassis or match the bed (large gap). I have another idea I'm wondering if I can shave off all the lines and resculpt everything with contour putty? In an effort to save the cab obviously because I hate the idea of wasted plastic.
  5. I have a razor saw but I only used it to make the initial cut. Then I just started winging it.... cuttin as I went, gluein peices together. It's a mess. nothing lines up and I don't think I'll be able to use any of the roof now. May think about a car roof of some kind...50 ford maybe?
  6. Anybody have any insight on how to properly chop the top on this kit... I've ruined 2 cabs already with no success. I need any feedback, what I should've done and what I'm doing wrong whould be ok. Through in a couple "you knucklehead!" 's too because I deserve it at this point! Lol! before I cut up another because that's probably where I'm headed agian! I was trying to replicate a 53 ish ford truck that sat in the Highschool parking lot when I was in school. A Kid named William drove this midnight blue chopped Ford pick up with Pro stars. I loved it and was wanting to build it. I haven't seen any resin cabs but I'm open to that... and any other ideas you guys have too Thanks and sorry for the cringe worthy butcher job pics.
  7. Good Idea... I'm a Chevy guy... well mostly. I love what Finnegan did to the 55! that thing is Awesome!
  8. This Revell 57 Chevy ☺
  9. I'm convinced! Thanks guys... My intention was to distract attention away from it while keeping a cool vibe.
  10. Basically the 72 Amt Chevelle is the same as the 70. I turned this one into a 71 Heavy Chevy about 20 years ago using aftermarket decals and baremetal foil. The goal was to build something that didn't exsist in the modelcar world. #1 a 71 Chevelle and #2 with the Heavy Chevy option. I used alot of ideas form my youth Ex: thread for plugwires... lol... I see a difference in my builds now compared to 20 years ago and I look at them now and then for a good laugh...
  11. The hobby can be very expensive, alot of people don't realize that. 30+ years ago when I first started building, you bought the kit, paint, and glue... maybe two kits if you wanted to do some "Parts Swapping". I remember being at K-mart when I was 10 debating what wheels would look good on which kits. I worked on a Turkey farm for $4 an hour and that's mostly what I spent my money on. With all the aftermarket and resin companies, it's great to be a modeler now and with the internet there's no limit to what you can have if you're willing to spend the money. I'm just an adult kid... my wife says, lol!
  12. The Monogram kit is 1/24, been around since forever. A few years back Revell improved on it by retooling the interior into seperate door panels and other parts that were molded in. Other improvements were decals, headers, and intake. The Amt 70 is 1/25 scale... slightly smaller. I'd say it's the more desired of the two to build. Both kits have issues but I like them equally. I wouldn't beat yourself up about the one you built when you first got back into it. Oddly enough it's not like riding a bicycle... to me anyways. Lol. I see some vast improvement from the two, sometimes it's all about what materials you use too.
  13. Thanks guys! Giving some thought on the wheels and stance so I painted the wheels I borrowed from the Revell 57 Chevy... I beleive they are 22's. I wanted to see how they looked slammed. I like the look but I kinda wanted the brakes to be seen through the wheels and that isn't an option with these wheels. I'm on the fence...
  14. The fact that it doesn't match 100% is what makes it appear to be a repair job. You've seen older repairs on real cars where the paint was blended and then the sun reacts differently to both paints. That is what it looks like to me. I don't think you could acheive that look purposefully if you tried. I call that a happy mistake. Lol!
  15. Thanks, the Charger looks like it was from the same builder he must've liked dark blue. Turned out nice! Sometimes I get long winded and go on and on, I read all the posts I can but I can't alway comment like I'd want to. The GTO is gonna look good with all 70's flare.
  16. Exactly what it looks like... some of my best results are often by mistake... I like seeing older builds restored without losing the look of it. Good on you, I missed the Charger I'll have to look for it.
  17. The front looks like a Jeep and the back takes the shape of a Hummer. Gives it a squared off look. I like the redesign.
  18. Didn't Ponch replace his gold Pontiac with a brand new Blue one for the next season? I vaguely remember him with a blue 77/78 Trans-am...but maybe I'm wrong...
  19. Beautiful in Red or black... I like GM Greens and yellows of the era also. Often overlooked is the 60 impala they are great looking cars. This one is coming out nice. I built one based on Artwork by Tim Mullins. I've been wanting to build the kit agian.
  20. For me, Summer is the best time to build models but then you have to juggle time between yard work, vacations, and spending time with the family. I'm working on the replica today... the real Mustang has a sunroof so I'm working on grafting a PT crusier glass. It seems to have the same contours. Would've been nice to have the cutout lines for it, instead it has t-top cutouts. Also doing bodywork and raising the middle of the hood to look like the 1-1/2 inch scoop on the real car.
  21. I love it! I just bought this for the third time... I've never completed the first one... I'm hoping to get this one built... deffinatly some good inspiration here!
  22. Just now seeing this Dwayne, This is Awesome! Awe yes.... the Beastie Boys!... "Cold Kickin it Live!"
  23. Thanks, You know your Generals... I've educated myself on the differences over the years too. I seen LEE 1 at Cooter's place in 2000, long before it was restored and it was rough. I've seen most of the surviving Generals over the years and I've studied the details. I've been going to the DOH reuinons since 98. WB only used one stuntcar to Ski with during the entire series and It's one of the survivors, I seen it in 05 at the Bristol Dukesfest... Huge Dukes of Hazzard nerd here.
  24. I built a transvrse straight axle for mine, made it alot more simple. I wish I had the build pics of it but they're buried somewhere in the cloud. And the car is in my brother's garage under an empty fish tank.
  25. I've always had a thing for film cars. I'm constantly insearch for a real screen used TV/movie car. I never wanted something overly popular though. A guy in my town owns one of the thunderbirds from Thelma and Louise. I have to say when I found spencer1984 http://spencer1984.com I found a fascination for film star car models. The dedication is showcased with each movie replica. This thread has proved he is not alone. Great job on all the TV and movie star cars, keep em rolling!
