  1. Skeptical... you and me both lol! Thanks, I want it to be a little better than when 18 year old me built it the first time... the bodywork is more involved than the first time for sure.
  2. A sneek peek at what decals are going on the car "Speed of Light" will be on the quarter panels as with a twist I desided to tie in the Loewy name... Raymond Loewy is famous for the 53 Studebaker. The car will officially be named "Speed of Loewy" however you will be able to see the Light behind the Loewy name... 104 Octane booster was the only sponsor on the original build so I desided to add it to the Sponsorship on the build agian. The car is gonna be a phantom racer as if Raymond Loewy's Grandson would've became a Bonneville salt flats driver. Loewy's only daughter (Laurence) had a son she named Jacque so I gave the driver the name Jack, "Jack Loewy" as the driver on the door. Here is a pic of the decals separated from the sheet, The car will be white with stars on top and sides with the red stripes around them, it's gonna be USA themed. Thanks for looking...
  3. Man! That is Gorgeous!
  4. Actually the newly released fully detailed glue kit has the newly molded revised body (Non 500 roofline). I like that kit as much as the snapper that I built for my 4 year old daughter. She wanted it pink. It's your choice weather you want to keep it simple or not. Both kits are good. The glue kit is molded in white and the snapper is orange.
  5. Well guys I took off a week to finish up a few projects one being the Club challenge and then my son and I did a couple of build offs. But I'm glad to report I have finished up the bodywork and will be back in high gear on this build. I designed the decals and printed them today so that really gets me inspired to jump back on it. Here they are...obviously not all the decals are gonna go on the Studebaker but when printing decals you have to fill the page completely up as not to waste the materials... anyways, thanks for your patience...
  6. I really like the progress you're making on the truck and l like seeing lots of Chrome and or polished aluminum on Rusty/weathered rides. It's a trend that caught on during the "Ratrod" phase and still remains popular. I started building this kit and desided I wanted the top chopped but unfortunately I made the cuts in the wrong place which has stalled the project. I set up a totally white back ground for my pics (picture for attention) but any progress pics work, I enjoy seeing them. "Keep Hammering Away" Thanks
  7. Bodywork is in high gear and that's what I'm focusing my efforts on for now. But I wanted to show you what I received in the mail today... No Salt flat car is complete without a set of these babys More boring body work to do. I'll be back later...
  8. My thought was since the wheels are from a 25th scale and being used on a 24th scale it would seem the wheels are smaller on the 39 like maybe 17 front 18 rear? Just a thought...
  9. I've been working on one of these also... nice too see someone else have the same ideas as me. I'm useing the Foose wheels on mine too. I'm using a C7 Corvette suspension and driveline for a modern upgrade. I love the wheels on the car. Hope you don't mind me posting here... it's just that when mine is done it will look alot like yours.
  10. That was my suggestion, But it would be cool to see Revell and Hot Rod team up again. I would love to see the "Monkey Pecker" as a model kit. Can't say I was ever in love with the name... but the car is amazing and that hemi? I'd love to build my version with the hemi and the chopped top.
  11. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I haven't pinned down exactly what engine (s) I will go with but I was thinking about 2 GM V6s with twin turbos on each or 2 slant 6 cylinder Mopar engines... any suggestions? I'm still not sure what to do... This thing is really leading me instead of the other way around.
  12. Back for another quick update... I've been sanding away on the front clip... after making the hood and fenders all 1 peice I filled the seams and smoothed it all to look like a fiberglass frontend. I hope it goes this well from here on out.
  13. The Good Doctor tonight! Watch Dr. Shawn Murphy Crash a Stripped Tomato... S&H Torino... on ABC at 10pm...
  14. Here is another angle of the "Madness" that is yet to be...
  15. I'm moving on now, if I wait too long to deside usually I'll reach a stopping point and there's no time to stall. "Say goodbye to my little frontend" I'll make mounts to re-attach it later. For now I need to start closing the firewall in and fabbing my full roll cage. Thanks for looking!
  16. I have the kit also but I haven't desided what I'm gonna do just yet. The kit is a combination of the movie car and the TV car. I was told that the decal is hard to get to lay down properly. I thought about painting the TV car stripe on and adding 50 series tires like the TV car had too. As far as the wheels go, I'd strip the chrome and paint them with buffing metallizer. If you lightly polish the wheels they will look authentic, not too shiny not too dull. Here is an example of the wheels from the Bandit TA.
  17. Alright, so I couldn't help but see if I could get the quarterpanels sorted out. So I laid down some filler and surface primer... I use this primer because it is kinda thick and drys relatively hard so you cand sand on it and smooth the surface pretty easily... I'm enjoying the work goin on here and It's rewarding to see it come back from uncertainty. More as the world turns. Thanks
  18. Mama always said "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say nothing... I hope that isn't the case here guys. Anyway, It's slow goin but I'm moving the firewall back to possibly house two engines. I've been informed that I should remove the front clip for display. I'm on the fence about that detail but I could be persuaded... to do or not to do? Thanks for looking. I know it's boring but keep watching it'll get better I hope... lol.
  19. Great use of the Alternomad. Nice work.
  20. I've mostly finished the wheelwells... with the exception of body work... I'm just waiting to do all that at once. I may or may not be doing one last body modification, I'll see how that goes once I get the firewall moved back. I really didn't think It would be difficult to keep it from "Snowballing" but it's really taking off now.
  21. That is exactly what I thought when I bought the new kit. I was even thinking about the fade on the new kit. Had I'd known that I'd get the new one I would've done it too. Although I can't imagine the old kit being much competition in the contest. It was rough, still is... but It's getting better.
  22. Ok so that was harder than I thought it would be but I guess I'm a little rusty. Body work will cover it and you'll never know it. I was reluctant to show my Frankenstein work but Hey, I'm not gonna hide my skills or lack there of lol! At least my wheelwell is where I want it... Thanks for looking
  23. So I think I'm gonna lower the wheel wells to keep air moving on the body. I think it will look better too, we'll see.
