  1. Great build! I'm in the prosess of building a chopped merc sedan delivery... I needed some inspiration now let me get busy. lol!
  2. perfect color choice for this kit... I also want to warn everyone about the newly re-released (new box art) 57 chevy black widow (number 47 on the door). There was a mix up at the factory and alot of those kits got the wrong bodies. They have recalled them but I was told that alot didn't get returned so just bare in mind that this kit could have the 57 chevy 2 door sedan belair body. I'd look for the original box art (number 64) or if you buy online make sure it's opened and there a picture of the contents. ie: 150 body...
  3. Start a thead on this if you don't mind. Are you gonna paint it Panther agian? I have one I want to do in Highland green and Wimbledon white. Love this kit even in stock form as the red one is Nice job on it, modelercarl... the flares change the look completely.
  4. Round 2 has the MPC Squad rod out currently and it is more accurate than the AMT "squashed roof" version IMO. Also there are other inconsistencies, the wheel wells are funky and it's just not a good start to me. However, I do believe the Squad rod with the joker/goon roof and doors would be a good fit. But I think the roof line in the back will have to be addressed.
  5. I agree and I would love to see model companies take a chance on something like this. It's definitely not a one trick pony either... could do at least 3 versions of Sheriff Buford's car. Unharmed version, top off version, and the other damages. Not to mention the other builds... stock, custom, or beaten beater versions. It would be nice. My buddy and I were talking about taking the squad rod nova and turning it into a 4 door. Because these cars were police cars. Any suggestions on where to start? He said the Citation's have the back roof simular to the 4 door nova but I think maybe the joker/goon monaco doors and roof would be an easy start. I also would like to take on the Family Truckster and I'm kinda wondering how someone would go about that? Sorry for Hijacking the thread it's just that this project is going so well that I couldn't help myself.
  6. Many thanks guys... I don't know how I survived model building all those years without this forum and you guys cheering me on. Much like cell phones and every other advancements in technology for sure...
  7. Thanks, It was a fun build. I hope to inspire fellow modelers to build a (Phantom Hot Wheels) what you would like to see made... Think about what hasn't been done cause there are hundreds of Hot wheels Matchbox and other brands out there. Or build your favorite Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning...
  8. Well I'm back from the monthly club meet....we seem to be losing our members slowly, not a real big turn out... but I did manage to get the car done in time for the challenge reveil. "The Night Fever Disco Nova"... I added some signature tacky graphics and poked the oversized engine out the hood. Lastly l enlarged the package card for display.
  9. Truly a Magnificent piece of art. Show stopper!
  10. LMAO! I still drive a 76 and I wear plad too! I wanted green appliances when we remodeled our kitchen but the wife wouldn't let me. Had to go with black.
  11. I remember that one! Got some color on I decided to go with Flaming Orange. It's kinda burnt orange and that will go with the mid 70's . Remember when those colors were popular in kitchens? And guys wore orange polyester suits? Ahhhhh! The good old days.. where was I? Any way decals and clear then on to sanding and polishing.
  12. Tamiya clear orange... you can get red and blue too. If you mix the colors you can have purple and green as well. https://www.google.com/search?q=tamiya+clear+paint&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjBj7CW6aLTAhUJ9IMKHV1ACA0Q_AUICCgC&biw=360&bih=512#imgdii=KcoRXoUcMyaPrM:&imgrc=rTjiAeovsH4UaM:
  13. Thanks guys... I never thought about the Zinger angle but it does. Maybe because the engine is a bit oversized. I was thinking of how all the engines out the hoods of my Hot wheels seemed out of puportion. Now that I Google some cars I see that they do seem kinda accurate. A kid's perspective..I guess lol! I'm thinking of that Corvair Zinger out now.
  14. Excite toys F150 with sounds One of my son's old toys that I robbed the engine from... l figured it would look right with the Hot wheels theme. It will sit down further into the car once it is screwed to the chassis.
  15. It's supposed to be a Blower, valve covers, and fire coming up from the headers. I plan on painting the fire orange and red for a better understanding of how it will look. The scoop is missing off the top. I think I'm using velocity stacks hopefully it will come together soon so you can see my vision.
  16. Here are some more progress pics... I tinted the glass yellow because Hot wheels does this alot. So I thought it would suit the build. Also I sprayed the interior with plate metlizer and I'm buffing it to simulate chrome, like how Hot wheels sometimes have chrome interiors. Anyhow I'm getting underway with it now and I'll have some progress pics soon. Fun stuff... more later...
  17. Thans guys! You know how Hot wheels names their cars? Well one of the names I had thought up is the "Disco InfernoVa"... but I have some other Ideas as well....
  18. Thanks, I'm struggling with loading photos I was about to give up. For whatever reason I can't load pics from my camera roll. I never had that problem before but I haven't posted any pics here for awhile now. I went in and edited this pic to get it to load finally. I hope to get some color on soon. I'm thinking tinted glass and chrome interior also.
  19. Here is a peek of what I've got in mind. Flames and high metallic vibrant color combos soon to come!
  20. So our monthly club meeting concluded with picking next months challenge which is Hot wheels builds or hot wheels inspired. My idea is to build the Hot wheels that Mattel hasn't made but should make. Drum roll please... the Disco nova. It blows my mind to think that there isn't a Hot wheels of the 4th gen nova. Of the thousands of styles out there this one is sadly overlooked by toy and model makers. Anyway I plan on a build that will have key Hot wheels signatures and how it would look if Mattel would've made it. I'll have pics soon. Thanks for looking and stay tuned.
  21. Your welcome Madd Trucker. My son and I were sitting at the table by the stairs we talked to you there for the past two years now. Nice job on the rigs
  22. Here are some pics from the MDA show... I hope the link works. https://public.fotki.com/ghoneycutt/model-pics/mda-show-roanoke-2017/
  23. http://starcityracing.com/Forums/showthread.php?50845-Factory-Built-427-B-FX-Ford-F-100-Drag-Pickup The truck screams factory built B/FX Style truck! please go that route can't wait to see this build!
  24. Yep! I couldn't have said it better.... The thing about Olies is they actually get their inventory from an overstock company and those kits have never been on the shelves yet. But watch them fly off the shelves at Olies... they are not discounted because they don't sell well.
  25. That is one cool High school Hotrod! I had three during highschool... a 60 chevy Apatche, a 61Chevy Apatche, and a 74 nova. Mom's Impala was her first brand new car. She traded it off in 84 for a AMC Eagle station wagon.
