  1. I've found out ya can't just build one...so many different ideas to make it cool. I'm still waiting on mine to get back from the "body shop". I did print out my own true flame decals though. Icy blue and white lightning with real fire flames! Chopped top, sectioned body, with a rake cut into the body tubbed front engine center seat dragster! If you can get head around that! I hope to get started soon but for now I'll have to live though you guys!
  2. Grooovvy dude! I'm trying to get mine back into action. This is motivation for sure.
  3. Nice job on the flares and that is one seriously chopped top...
  4. I'd say use the 69 amt camaro window frame and the revell 69 camaro boot. I used the PT cruiser convertible top to top up a 69 Revell camaro works pretty good. I just haven't finished it yet.
  5. Awesome cobraman! Can't wait to see what you're doing with it!
  6. That was never really an option anyway... Model building at this level is not only an emence skill but you have to have a wealth of patience as well as extreme imagination and vision. If my patience is being tested I'll just leave it alone for a few days. With a project this involved that is the best thing you can do.
  7. Thanks for the positive vote guys. How many of these cars have you seen on the road lately? I would guess if Round 2 ever discontinues this kit it will likely never be reissued agian lol! But it does grow on ya. I honestly think had I designed the reissue it would've been with lace panels two toned purple and gold! Dang, now I'll have to build another one! Takes ya back to the 70's... the pimp had one on the corner of Seventh and Vine where Vino's liquor store was!
  8. My wife had a conference meeting in Atlantic city so tagged along with some model kits and supplies. This is the end result. Just a simple promo annual kit that Round 2 released. I made some small changes but it is pretty much box stock. Blower scoop from The Revell 79 camaro. And I drilled some oval port windows in the sail/roof panels. I finished it off with some gold trim on the grill and valve covers for a 70's vibe... Funky bodystyle and weird graphics but it kinda rubs off on ya after awhile.
  9. Awesome! I'm glad more guys are getting on board with this build... so cool! My build has taken a back seat for the moment because I'm not sure if my vision for the rake is goin as planned so I'm going to farm out the rest of the chop to our resident club chopper. I'm also away from my bench as my wife had a conference meeting in Atlantic City and I tagged alone with her just for the heck of it, don't worry I brought along some models and supplies to keep me occupied while she's in the meetings. I also went to the local Olies up here and scored some unusual kits as well. Any way here's a pic of my nightmare, Almost looks like I made the cuts blindfolded huh?
  10. What!!! This is Ssweet! I like how you kept the German theme "Der" in play! And the cone lettering is a brilliant idea! Nice work, it's turning out great!
  11. "I like these custom builds because they tend to tell me where to go with the build" My sediments exactly, well said, sir!
  12. Yeah, about that rear wheel well... that looks great! I feel like I want something like it on mine now. Back to the "cuttin board" Dang it.
  13. AWESOME! I assume the paint is gonna be dripping /melting theme also?
  14. Nice! I'm so glad the door has opened up for these kits... loads of potential. Initially I was afraid these would get overlooked agian and either get discontinued or be real expensive in the future. But everyone seems to be taking a shine to the kit now. I heard that Dobbertin's J 2000 was getting repopped, can anyone confirm that? Lovin what I'm seeing already And I can't wait to see more.
  15. I believe it to be pretty accurate other than being a little short. But it does have a hemi V8 in the middle of the floor!
  16. I added a pic in the Community section just now but I may start a thread once this thing starts taking shape.
  17. Oh! No! What have I done?!! I don't even know myself but it's starting to snowball already!
  18. I'm excited to see what everyone does with theirs. As a matter of fact I'm goin to get back on mine right now! I've already chopped the top and now I'm gonna get started on filling in the back windows. My enthusiasm has tripled in less than two minutes upon seeing this thread! Thanks for that!
  19. Awesome guys! I didn't realize how many builders were interested in doing a Community build with this. I'll be starting back on mine right away...
  20. Testors one shot lacquer flaming orange, but what I did was put a base coat of competition orange. The Wilshire Shaker is what came to mind but my dad raced a 63 chevy II with this exact paint scheme. His car was a dirt track car with the number 28 on the door. He had a monkey holding a wrench with "Grease monkey" painted on the thunk. Dad started having bad luck with it and he thought that monkey was the cause, being superstitious he painted over it about mid season. I want to create and print my own decals and call the car "the Grease Monkey" paying tribute to my dad's old stock car.
  21. I've been busy with another project and finally took some time to get some paint on my gasser. It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped and I may wash off the paint and start agian. Or move forward? Who knows... here's a pic anyway...
  22. Love the show, Sam and Dean rocks! I always wanted to take on this project in 1/25 scale. Which would be alot more simple. No moving parts or high detail. It would be cool to see the box art on the "Metallicar" also.
  23. One of the club members sent me this pic as he was unable to attend the meeting last month, a quick rough draft of his final reveil.
  24. I see we have another bettle bus builder ready to take on the challange, thanks for the compliments! Now get goin so we can compliment your project! Lol!
