  1. Quick update on the 74 SS 427 Stingray... got the hood painted and decaled. And some more detail on the engine..
  2. Welcome to the workbench! You got any progress pics?
  3. Thanks alexis, I wanted an L88 hood for it and I had two from the 68 Covette Revell kits but I couldn't find them in all my junk so I finally gave up and the SS427 hood is the winner. I'll be adding white Baldwin Motion stripes to define the scoop. I'm seeing the build take on somewhat of a "What-if" theme had the 427 survived into the mid seventies.
  4. Yes I have and aside from being a tad short they work perfectly. I plan on adding a windsheild cowl from an earlier vette to fill in the gap it will be foiled to match the trim on the window frame. Not accurate for a 74 I'm aware but this is a Phantom kit with the 427 anyway. I hadn't even planned on building the kit because I only bought it for the bare rally wheels and it was already missing the hood. But something just drew me to want a vette in my case. So I'm on a roll....
  5. I'm trying to decide on a hood for the vette but I'm not sure which one to go with. There is the SS 427 hood or the small block hood (both blue) or the stock hood or the engine sticking out hood. Any would work for the theme I'm building but I can't decide... Anyway, in an effort to save space for pictures I've combined the engine progress and wheels and tires I'm using for the build in this picture also, thanks for looking.
  6. Wild! And definitely not like anything else I've seen done to these buses before! I've been watching for more oddities to show up. There's literally nothing you can't do to make these things cool!
  7. Thanks guys the color is Testors one shot lacquer Icey blue... I think I'm headed in this direction... Kinda...
  8. Cool builds going on here, you must be the man of Vettes. I'm currently working on the 74 Stingray, I didn't open the door for the all these Corvette build threads did I?
  9. Here's some progress, got some color and clear on just need to polish and detail next.
  10. Mpc kit that some one started paint was thin enough that I didn't have to strip it completely. I haven't made my mind up yet where the build is heading, but it'll come to me... https://images52.fot
  11. Not to sound like an adolescent teen girl but OMG! No kidding, that is Cool cobraman! Here's my latest attempt or I should say my bodyman/fabricator! He has taken it to the next level! I chopped it and he's narrowed it and raked it more than what I done to it! The plan is to have the top hinge up from the front. And were gonna build the wing to look like a cape... because I'm going full on Superman theme now! I hope to get it back soon to start paint and decals.
  12. Making good progress! Looks like it was made that way!
  13. Thanks Dave, I hope this inspires her to want to build models someday. My 13 year old son already has first place trophies with his model car builds. Anyway, my daughter wanted the car in her room so "she could see it" she said. So that's where it is...
  14. Awesome details! Have you give the fire wall any thoughts? I worked the idea up and took a pic so you can see what my idea was.
  15. Isn't it funny how some cars get overlooked for being kitted? I think these kinds of kits are more "real life". I'd like to see some company take a chance on odd or unfashionable kits such as 4 doors or sedans or any thing forgotten. Like mid 90's ford Taurus or Ltds or mid 90's chevy malibus and monte carlos? Or something that isn't normal like chevelle camaro mustang. Great use of the car too. Where can I get one?
  16. Personally I like the foil work... it's details like this that keep you looking at these kind of builds... carry on!
  17. I had to quote Frankie from "Luke's love story" because afterall this would've been General Lee's fate had Luke not let Amy win the race right? My 4 year old daughter wanted her "own General Lee" but she wanted it pink so I used the new snap kit to complete the build. I changed up the wheels and left off some key General parts. Overall this is a good kit to build. Thanks for looking...
  18. Chevrolet had that seat in full size trucks as an options in 90's. I'm thinking you may have to scratch build the seat.
  19. 2 pinks and a white were my thoughts! If I may, can I recommend putting some sort of divider (firewall) between the engine and the rest of the interior? Maybe the glass from the kit and tape off the window and paint the rest silver so it matches. As for the gas tank, I thought the one from the kit looks like a moonshine still... lol! I'm thinking you could mount something under it past the rearend. It's neat to see the stages as it progresses.
  20. You're the best beginner I've ever seen. I've never used Tamiya paints... too expensive for me. I like the canopy and I assume there will be pink and white stripes, on it. Two pink and one white or two whites and a pink? I'd test it first to see which looks the best. I'm also excited to see the interior coming together. I'm planning on fabbing an interior for one l'm working on. Keep up the good work!
  21. Nice! Did you use the air brush to paint the body? The color looks like 50's pink.. quick story, my 4 year old asked me to build her a "General lee model" but she wanted it pink so I took the new snap General lee and painted it Hot magenta with 50's pink interior. She loves it! The red part of the flag was cut out and I used electric pink metallic. The colors work well together. I actually like many shades of pink. We have an ice cream truck (box truck) that visits our neighborhood It's yellow and not nearly as cool as this one.
  22. I like that rendering. some one should submit the measurements and or a clay sculpture of this to a good resin company.
