  1. Thanks, I found the tech manual on line and have it download.
  2. Here is the list of issues so far. As seen in the first photo, the wooden side boards for the front of the bed are taped down which has put a bad twist in it. Still fighting it trying to get it straight. The axle positions aren't clear and provided info seems wrong. The front axle is the longest, the other 2 are almost the same and the longer of the rear ones needs to be trimmed to match. The front axle is too wide, must be trimmed to get the proper track width. My kit was missing the driveshaft from the transfer case to the rear-most axle, I had to make my own from tube stock. The bed is slightly warped, I was able to get most of it out when I attached the tailgate. Front bed supports needed trimming so bed sits level on frame. The supports for the 50 cal ring mount don't have an accurate location, and if located where they appear on the real CCKW don't seem long enough. There isn't any template or info for the cargo bows, wire is included but no bending info. Reference to real trucks is required. The sideboards for the driver's side bed are too short, the posts don't align with the cast pockets on the bed. By the time you get to the back it's noticably off. Cab needs a lot of fitting, it sits too far aft. The interior floor needs to be trimmed to allow the cab to move forward. Watch the fenders on the cab, they are very thin and will break easily. One of mine was cracked when I took it out of the box. I've built 2 complete trucks from resin parts/kits (AITM B85 logger and AITM Rubber Duck Mack) so I'm not exactly new to this.
  3. Interesting build. Sounds like the resin may not have cured, next time try filling with superglue. I've had decent luck with that but it's really tough to sand, you have to be careful as the resin is softer. Glass should be easy, all the windows look flat so clear sheet should work fine.
  4. I think mine will be a GMC Topkick home heating oil delivery truck. I'll post pics when I start the WIP Build thread. (Still waiting on some parts, after the supply issues of the last few years, I've decided not to start a project unless I have everything I need in hand).
  5. Looks good, the thing that amazes me is the smoothness of the stack, I can't say I've seen anything 3D printed that smooth.
  6. Spent the last 2 hours trying to figure out the axle placement. If I go by the instructions and photos provided, the front axle appears too short and the rear axle is way too long. I have now decided to ignore the instructions and parts key and swap the front for the rear. I need to narrow the rear axle by 6/40 (I use an engineer's scale at 40 scale for modelling) and I think that will sort things out.
  7. According to the paperwork that came with the kit, wheelbase is 145"
  8. Not sure, I'll measure it when I get the suspension on. Where did you get the decals for your wrecker?
  9. I ordered directly from Wespe, I think it was about 4 weeks from Romania.
  10. I started fitting the larger pieces, the cab and bed, as any major mods are easier to do before the suspension goes on. I was right, it took some serious work to get the cab fit properly and I can't imagine how many times the suspension would have broken if it were on. Cab and bed mocked up:
  11. Starting the next project, a 1/24 scale GMC CCKW by Wespe. All resin, lots of parts and what looks to be challenging diagrams.
  12. It won't at least as long as it stays in the house!
  13. I'm in. Still deciding what I'll do, but I have a couple of ideas. I'd rather not limit it to movie trucks.
  14. Calling this one done. AITM Brockway 457 day cab on a Freightliner chassis with a Keystone Leach packer. Due to the uneven surfaces on the packer, I skinned all the flat areas with thin sheet. Wheels and tires came from the leftovers parts bin. Turquoise frame and cab, white packer and cab roof.
  15. I know how you feel, I'm looking for a 360, want to do a proper DD V12, I think they were 360U. I still have a 361, 758 and 760 in the stash but will be very selective with what I use them for.
  16. After not having any motivation for anything model related for the last couple of months, I'm back at it. Cab is almost done, just the mirrors and dog to go, will wait until the packer body is on the chassis for that. Packer body is getting close, after the PVA glue for the lights sets, it's getting the rear section onto the front, a couple of lift pistons and it will be ready for the chassis.
  17. Keystone is closed, AITM is up in the air.
  18. Interesting that the windshield halves are angled. The 1978 Thomas I drove had flat front windows. Makes sense they would try anything to improve the aero.
  19. I was getting ready to start mine but I think I have a couple of things I'll do first. Still need to finish the garbage truck....haven't dome a thing modelling in almost 3 months.......
  20. I doubt that Dave's family plans to re-open AITM. We'll just have to wait and see if they make other arrangements.
  21. For those who aren't on Facebook, this just appeared on the AITM FB page: Thank you for your interest in American Industrial Truck Models. As most of you are aware, David Natale was in the process of selling the business before he suddenly passed away. The estate of David Natale has recently settled a legal dispute associated with the sale, which never was completed. At this time we cannot provide additional information. This page will continue to be used to share David's personal collection and truck modeling supplies. When more information is available about the AITM product line, it will be shared on this page. Thank you for your patience and understanding. David's family has had a challenging year navigating grief and this legal issue. We are happy to have reached a settlement and wish everyone well.
