  1. I finally got the windshield in. Instructions say to mount it from the inside, but the sides weren't close to clearing the A pillars. Cutting them down wasn't an option as that would remove the window gasket area. The diagram on the instruction sheet shows it going in from the front, which solves the aforementioned problem with the A pillars, but now there is a clearance issue top to bottom. My solution was to file off most of the retaining lip on the bottom. I left just enough to grab and didn't ruin the paint on the cab! It still took a bit of massaging to get it in, but it's in.
  2. Thanks, I guess that's why it looks better behind a larger cab. The ramp truck chassis is way too long anyway so it's cut down to the proper length.
  3. That's a good looking casting!
  4. Thanks for the info, I have found the interior tub doesn't fit well to the cab, there is stress somewhere that keeps it from sitting where it should. I've trimmed almost everything I can see and it's better but still wants to pop out. Superglue will hold it when the time is right but I never like it when parts are under stress.
  5. If/when they do start up, I think the orders are going to blow them away (or whoever takes it over). Seems like there is a lot of pent up demand.
  6. Figures, I just started a wrecker using a resin body and the Mobius ramp truck kit.
  7. Found a small wrecker body on the auction site and found the Mobius ramp truck to be a good donor. Frame will need to be shortened, but that's about all. The frame is warped, so it's being straightened before I cut it down. Otherwise, my first Mobius kit is going together well. Of course, one day after I start Mobius announces almost the same thing coming in a kit. The wrecker body was supposedly made for an 8' p/u but it looks too wide to me. The F350 cab looks to be just the right size.
  8. Something about this kit that I never liked the look of. Your take on it fixed it, I like what you've done. The proportions look better and the smooth side box is a big improvement over the kit. Well done.
  9. Excellent as usual! I can almost smell that old Army canvas....
  10. That's a really nice old school A-Car!
  11. Always seems to happen to me, I finish something and then see all the things that are wrong. You'll just have to do like I do, make another one!
  12. If I had known last year what I now know, I would have "stocked up" on certain things but my problem is that I see something cool at a truck show and want to model it. Unless I had a stash of several copies of everything available, I'm stuck. I don't think I could afford a stash like that. As it is, I'm sure I've got more kits and projects than I'll live to see completed.
  13. Not that I've seen or heard. Hopefully someone will reach an agreement with Dave's family.
  14. Nice job, that orange looks familiar!
  15. I'd say you have adapted your modelling skills to big rigs very well so far.
  16. That's a nice looking casting. Did you open the doors or did it come with them cast seperately?
  17. Looks great, what did you use for the metallic look on the bumper, exhaust etc?
  18. Good job on the roof. I wouldn't worry about the plastic ribs, they should stay attached to the roof.
  19. I wouldn't know it was resin if you didn't say it was. Great look! Is that the AITM battery box/airtank? I've been looking for a bunch of them.....
  20. Looks good, nice, clean build.
  21. Thanks folks, one of these days I'm going to try new photos that show the colors more accurately.
