  1. Out of the box build, I wanted something quick and easy for a 2-day build. Paint is Testor's Aztek Acrylics, florescent yellow under gold pearl metallic.
  2. Looks great. Must get terrible mileage with the aerodynamics of a brick.
  3. There were a few things that bugged me about my recent Maine Locomotive and Machine Mack R688ST build. So, I got the correct grill and fixed a couple of other small "annoyances" along with adding a tool box to the back deck. This is a new build, not a re-do of the original.
  4. Calling it done. Mobius Ramp Truck kit with frame shortened. Kit had 2 transmissions, manual and auto so I used the manual. It also had parts for a front drive axle but my interest in that was too late for this build. Wrecker body is resin from the auction site. The Mobius frame had a bad twist which I successfully straightened but over time it seemed to work back in. The wheels all sit flat so it is what it is. Paint is mostly Testors Aztek, I am having trouble with the Tamiya masking tape bleeding under. Not all the time but often enough to make me search for something better. Lots of hand touch up at the color match lines.....
  5. Nor will I. Won't matter to me if it takes 6-9 months or more, just as long as I get the order.
  6. Looks natural, but then again, PACCAR owns both KW and Pete so why not?
  7. It took a while but here's a pic that shows off the colors better.....still lacks the punch of the metallic pearls.
  8. I use 0.032 brass rod for mirrors. Bends well with round nose pliers.
  9. Earlier today, a cab and chassis was delivered to the body shop to have the wrecker body fabricated and installed. I was told it might take a while due to the on-going parts shortages.
  10. Good job. I have a different kit made by them, seems well printed/cast.
  11. The ramp truck kit has both an automatic and manual transmission. The kit instructions call for the auto but I went with a manual, seems better for a wrecker. I didn't see a shifter in the kit, seems odd as they included a front drive axle and a second intake/carb/air cleaner amongst other parts not used.
  12. A few progress shots. First, a mock up after shortening the chassis Next, the chassis is a roller And the cab is in paint, still have details to add and some chrome.
  13. I finally got the windshield in. Instructions say to mount it from the inside, but the sides weren't close to clearing the A pillars. Cutting them down wasn't an option as that would remove the window gasket area. The diagram on the instruction sheet shows it going in from the front, which solves the aforementioned problem with the A pillars, but now there is a clearance issue top to bottom. My solution was to file off most of the retaining lip on the bottom. I left just enough to grab and didn't ruin the paint on the cab! It still took a bit of massaging to get it in, but it's in.
  14. Thanks, I guess that's why it looks better behind a larger cab. The ramp truck chassis is way too long anyway so it's cut down to the proper length.
  15. That's a good looking casting!
  16. Thanks for the info, I have found the interior tub doesn't fit well to the cab, there is stress somewhere that keeps it from sitting where it should. I've trimmed almost everything I can see and it's better but still wants to pop out. Superglue will hold it when the time is right but I never like it when parts are under stress.
  17. If/when they do start up, I think the orders are going to blow them away (or whoever takes it over). Seems like there is a lot of pent up demand.
  18. Figures, I just started a wrecker using a resin body and the Mobius ramp truck kit.
  19. Found a small wrecker body on the auction site and found the Mobius ramp truck to be a good donor. Frame will need to be shortened, but that's about all. The frame is warped, so it's being straightened before I cut it down. Otherwise, my first Mobius kit is going together well. Of course, one day after I start Mobius announces almost the same thing coming in a kit. The wrecker body was supposedly made for an 8' p/u but it looks too wide to me. The F350 cab looks to be just the right size.
  20. Something about this kit that I never liked the look of. Your take on it fixed it, I like what you've done. The proportions look better and the smooth side box is a big improvement over the kit. Well done.
  21. Excellent as usual! I can almost smell that old Army canvas....
  22. That's a really nice old school A-Car!
