  1. I'm waiting on wheels and tires from Jamie as well. Had to add wheels/tires for the trailer. Watched the movie again, thought the trailer had 5 spokes but looks like 5 holes. Trailer is almost together, have to paint some stuff first, then it goes together, minus the wheels/tires. The longer I wait, the more I think to add....BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH squirrels
  2. A little progress, color is on the cab and hood, details on the hood are done. I'm stalled on the cab for a bit, decided to do door signs. Just spent 2 hours in Photoshop getting the artwork done and of course the printer decides it wants attention before printing on decal paper. That done, decals are printed and will have to dry for a day before the seal coatings gets applied. Then another day to dry and by mid-week I should be able to get them on the cab. Wish I had thought of this last week...... Then it's on to clear coat over the decals and interior install before mounting the cab. Cab lights, mirrors, door handles, air cleaner, lube filter, stack and then I can start fitting the flatbed. Have parts for the searchlight coming from down under so I may have to park this one for a bit. Maybe I should go back to out of box builds, that way I wouldn't need to pause projects waiting for parts? Eh, been there done that, this is more fun.
  3. This is gonna be tough on many levels. Research is going well, have some details to get straight. First problem, the 5 hole rims on the tractor. Placed the order with Jamie now I wait. Probably need to have the wheels and tires in hand before setting the suspension on the chassis as the tires might be a little different size than stock. I have the trailer kit, using the AMT fruehauf and calling it close enough. Need to check some details if I can see them. It would be nice to have access to the many stills taken during filming.......I have parts coming from England and still have more to order. AITM Brockway 361 is in hand and I have the Autocar A64B kit for the chassis donor. Looks like I'll have to shorten the frame. Once I have the trailer details finalized, I'll start building that first.
  4. Revised. Changed the stack, this one looks more like the real one and added a visor to the cab.
  5. Just to be clear, I'm not doing the truck as it looks in the photo, this will be pre-roll.
  6. This will be a challenge on multiple fronts. The truck flipped over early in the movie so there aren't many scenes of it. As a result, there isn't much info on it. I've been able to find enough to do a decent job, the decals for the doors will be tough. Parts so far, AMT Autocar A64B for the chassis (may need to be shortened), Cab and hood from AITM (arrived an hour ago), rear wheels and tires from Jamie (just ordered), front wheels and tires from the Freightliner kit (leftover from the Brockway 6 wheel dump build). That should do it for the cab, I will need a rooftop a/c unit, should have one in the parts box. Then the trailer. Have 2 flatbeds on order, will decide which one to use when they arrive. I have the load figured out so I think the trailer will be the easier of the two but I haven't started yet!
  7. Progress, I have a rolling chassis, just needs some accessories. Cab mounts are fit, might need a little tweaking at the end. Detroit is home, took a bit of finess to get it in there. The only big thing left on the cab is the installation of the short fenders behind the hood. This may prove more difficult than moving the cab forward! Once that is done, hood and cab can go to paint. Bed has been shortened about an inch to get the right look, will be headed off to paint soon. Then the searchlight fab begins....
  8. Yeah, I grabbed 3 of them. I see he dropped the 359. I still have a 360 and 760 but something about the look of a set back front axle.....
  9. Well, since I can't use the one I'm building now, I think I'll throw in with the Widow Woman's Brockway 361 from the movie Convoy. Waiting for the Brock from AITM, have the donor chassis and trailer is on the way. I need to watch the movie again for details, like I need an excuse!
  10. An old Autocar would be nice, AITM has the 50's hood conversion for the A64B kit. AITM has an old International that might go well, so many choices!
  11. I already looked, they have a Ford and a White fantasy. I remember what the website looked like, I recall it was a smaller caster who had a small number of offerings.
  12. His site only shows one, I recall at least 4 maybe more. I've sent him an e-mail request.
  13. I recall a vendor that was offering 1950's-1960's era short school buses with various fronts, ie, Chevy's, Ford's etc with several different years available. I don't have the link, probably forgot to save it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? They were resin casts in 1/25 scale. Thanks!
  14. Thanks again, everyone!
  15. Great job, one of the best weathering jobs I've seen yet!
  16. I think they are bank cutters for deep drifts.
  17. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm past that point. It's more of a challenge than I thought, I've done at least 6 AITM cabs/conversions and this is by far the toughest!
  18. Great project. I had to move on of those many years ago, always in the way of my locker. Great progress, I admire your skills!
  19. Ok, thought I had read you moved them to the top and didn't see them. Thanks!
  20. Inspiration for this comes from my childhood many years ago. Growing up in the early mid 60's, searchlights were often hired for car dealership's new model year arrivals as well as supermarket and department store openings. My father would take the family out for a drive looking for the origin of the beam of light dancing in the sky. I recall seeing truck mounted searchlights, usually 6 wheel trucks. The searchlight was large, maybe 5 feet in diameter. My research shows they were most likely ex-military. For this build I decided on a concept rather than a specific truck as I have no recollection of specifics. Searchlight will be from scratch and is still in planning. I like the idea of a short nose Reo, seems to fit my memory. I'm going with tandem rears, I like the look. Kits involved so far are the AMT Diamond Reo for most of the build, AITM for the short hood and the Ford COE stake truck for the flatbed. I confess I didn't know what was involved in a short hood conversion. Difference is almost 3/4" and it means the cab must be moved forward that amount. It became obvious the Cummins in-line 6 from the kit was too long. I decided to go with a Detroit 6V-92 from Gary Wallace. I also have a GW Detroit 4-71 for the generator. Turns out the Detroit is too long as well and the interior is now cut up to make room. Next I'll be re-building the engine cover in the interior. The good news is that the rough work seems to be done and now it's finess time. Once I get the cab location finalized, I can fit the bed. Pics show progress so far.
  21. I'm not finding the BRBO thread for voting other than this one.
  22. Looks good, like your color choices. Really missing KJ's tires......
