  1. Nice looking interior & engine. What are those crazy wheels?
  2. Thanks Tom. I had forgotten them. I have been to their site. Haven't ordered anything yet
  3. I used Testors airbrush thinner. I only use that when I airbrush & its pretty old. Does this stuff get bad over time? I use good ole Walmart thinner when brush painting & that can take some time to dry as well, but nothing like the airbrushed paint job. And I certainly agree with you on the Testors inconsistant consitancy! Thats all they carry at the local hobby shop & Hobby Lobby, beside Valero acrylics. I have finally found an online store selling Humbrol, which has been good paint in the past, tho I've heard they've changed their formula. I want to give Tamiya a try too. I have been impressed with their primer, smoke tint sprays & masking tape.
  4. I have considered going lacquer after using automotive acrylic lacquers straight from the rattle can with good results. I really like the fast dry time & durability. However there does not seem to be much available in the way for models aside from spray cans (especially color choice) or am I missing something here?
  5. I too will have to go with Tamiya. Just got my 1st roll and got to say its the best I've tried. I have used 3M frosted tape with fairly good results, too. You may want to stick it to your arm or forehead 1st to cut down the adhesion if you're applying it over paint as it could pull up the paint when you remove the tape. I had been using the blue Duck brand painter's tape, but its adhesion has been poor lately. Maybe the weather? I will continue to use this as a mask beyond any area not covered by the tape I use at the break line. What ever you use you will do best by burnishing the edges.
  6. I was just curious - 66% lacquer thinner? I seem to have trouble getting my paint thin enough. I have never tried lacquer thinner with enamel, but looking for a better way to airbrush. I've painted and stripped one model twice already due to the fact the Testors black enamel I've used remains tacky to the touch even after sitting several weeks! I am going to try Humbrol enamel to see if the results will be any better. Any suggestions appreciated.
  7. Very nice. I' been looking a '60 Edsel to do myself. Nice job!
  8. In 1/25 scale: '57 T-Bird (done except for painting the top) '95 Caravan '61 Dodge wagon (Modelhaus) In 1/32 scale: '59 Chevy Conv, '61 Ranchero '49 Ford* '52(?) Cunningham* 2-3 '56 Chryslers (on back burner for years & still simmering!)* *These multi piece body models are a challenge to say the least! I could use a little help, too. I could use templates for the Chrysler windows. Need wheels & 1 taillight for the Cunningham (tho I can probably fabricate the taillight) In fun scale: Go Mad Nomad Rat Fink
  9. I really like the way the tail lights carry the horizontal theme of the grille. Really great looking!
  10. A fantastic job, indeed!
  11. Thank you for the clarification. I will still be wanting 2 or 3 of these engines as well as the future D-500. Maybe I could modify & scratch build the parts I would need to accurately replicate my D 63-3 engine. Even if I can't, I had always wished my car had the D-500 option and I will at least be able to have it in 1:25...
  12. Looks like you got a great start on it .I too have built this model more years ago than I can count, It is a great kit, went together well & still looks good sitting in its Sho-case. Wished there had been or I had Internet then. I would have done some better research & would have known what color to paint the engine. I had a 500K roadster limo HT. kit molded in a gorgeous maroon. but sold it. Wished I hadn't...
  13. I'm late arriving to this thread, but excited! I have a real "56 Dodge (Custom Royal conv) with the 315 poly & 4bbl Carter WCFB & a Modelhaus kit of the same needing the same, I have been trying to figure out what to do. Will you be making these to sell? I certainly would take one of any version that would be closest. I also have a couple of those "63 Dodge pick ups that could use your engines!
  14. Nice smooth finish!
  15. The black chrome goes well the dark red. Nice job!
  16. I am glad to see some one actually use the correct color engine paint for a '60s big block. Looks great!
  17. Congratulations! Looks to be a well deserved win. I would be willing to look at a few more pictures, if you have them. Me too! Nice job! Quote
  18. One might reconsider buying a California car after seeing this one... Very nice job!
  19. CAUTION! Sink hole ahead! (Shades of the Corvette Museum...)
  20. I always enjoy viewing your work. You are very creative! I'm glad you threw the box away!
