??? I'm with you Bill, if it had gotten the "backing" that Shelby and Ford provided the Cobra, no telling how the racing history would have gone.... NICE JOB!!!! DJ

Not getting into the middle of things, but..... There is a fairly decent MEL engine in the AMT 32 Vicky kit ??? DJ -

??? So I also thought..... Tried using some of the wife's "low odor/no splash" bleach, SIX WEEKS and still no de-chroming..... Went back out to WallyWorld and got a bottle of the "concentrated" bleach (where you can smell the ammonia), 90 minutes later, no chrome!!!!! Live and learn.... Hope this helps somebody else from repeating my error.... DJ

Help in disassembly of a built model
TECHMAN replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
??? CARL Others may have better ideas, but, my method is to put the model into the freezer for a couple of days, and basically "freeze" the model, this normally makes the glue "turn loose"...... Good luck DJ -

Need paint help, please.....

??? THANKS A LOT GUYS!!!!!! There are a couple of different outlets here in Columbia that carry the Krylon products, will give it a try. Thanks again. Will also try the Duplicolor. DJ -
Our "local" hobby supply places (as it is.....) no longer are carrying any "semi gloss black" rattle cans in Tamiya or Testors..... WHAT are you using to "replace" them????? Still have a few cans of the Tamiya Gloss Black, and their Semi-gloss Clear, but would rather be able to use "one step"...... ANY help would be appreciated....... THANKS DJ

??? Sorry I don't have the "set-up" to post pictures, and only offering "what I use" to paint these type of rims (primarily the American TorqueThrust)........ On the 1:1 vehicles, I used a gray primer to "refinish" the darker gray colored spokes, the lighter gray I used a "flat aluminum" to paint....... On the models, I have used "flat-gray" for the darker, and "flat aluminum" for the lighter colored rims, (like in the original picture}...... Not perfect, but at least something that will make your model "resemble" the picture.....? DJ

Objective (non passionate) question on AMT quality
TECHMAN replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
??? I started building models on December 26, 1959 (guess who got models for Christmas???!!!!), and came to like the AMT kits early on as they were "less stressful" to build than many of the multi-piece bodies of that era.... They have not always been "perfect", but over the years have supplied hours-and-hours of enjoyment. As Steve said in his reply, the "subject matter" has always been important...... NOT disagreeing with anyone, just saying, even tho they may not have always been "perfect", they made items that I have enjoyed over the years......... DJ -
??? GOOD LOOKIN!!!! Great job on a car of one of the greatest drivers ever!!!! DJ ps-- Great job of fighting the decals into place too, those ALWAYS give me fits!!!

At Walmart (at least one store)
TECHMAN replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Our local Walmart FINALLY started their "Clearance" on model cars!!!!! And what's even better, they drug out a BUNCH of different kits that were obviously "back stock" laying in the backroom..... Scored a Cal Drag Trio for $21 and a Grumpy's Vega & Ramchargers FED for $13 each!!!! Couldn't resist a deal!!!!! CHECK YOUR WALLYWORLD!!!!! DJ -
Fantastic job on the dragster Jerry!!!! This era of AA/FD were some of my favorites DJ
-
??? I got mine from WALLYWORLD several years ago, and, like Scott's, it holds a charge for weeks at a time, with a moderate amount of use.... DJ
