  1. Hmmm. If the kits share parts then that's a shame. The Ambassador and the Rebel were very definitely different creatures. We had a Rambler/AMC dealer in my small home town. My folks drove lots of Ramblers, then a few AMCs as I grew up. Not only did my dad have the '70 Rebel, but Mom had a '68 Ambassador. Both cars were solid and provided smooth rides, but were totally different too.
  2. Beautiful build! Outstanding paint job and attention to the exterior details. I'm totally envious. I have 3 of the Stude kits as well as the Miss Deal kit. 2 of the Stude kits will eventually be done stock, and one as a mild muscle car/street rod. I certainly have something to shoot for now! WOW!
  3. I see a few ideas for data columns I might want to add to my spreadsheet. Doug, yours is pretty impressive with LOTS of pertinent data included. I see 3 or 4 ideas just on your spreadsheet I might incorporate into mine. One of the other reasons I decided to go spreadsheet as opposed to just a handwritten inventory or a word doc is the ability to do quick sorts to search easier. I really didn't think I would need anything like a spreadsheet because when I started back into the hobby I wasn't expecting to build a stash of the size I have, especially this quickly. In one year I managed to build a stash of just under 150 kits. I really thought I'd have 5 or 6 unbuilt kits sitting around, but once I got started buying, I couldn't stop. I've slowed WAY down now, but I still hit all my sources pretty regularly, and I have 3 guys I've been buying from personally as well. Thanks for some ideas, guys!
  4. Maybe this will help. This is the exact kit I have.
  5. Just to point out, AMC produced the Rebel as a choice, as opposed to "The Machine". There were a lot of Rebels produced in 1970, in varying trim packages, that weren't "Machines". My dad had a '70 Rebel that was green with black accents and had the base 290 V8 in it. It was a sassy little car even with the little 290. Personally, I really like seeing Rebels done as something other than "The Machine". That car garners a LOT of attention, leaving way too many other great old Rebels ignored. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one finished. Keep those photos coming!
  6. OK. It seems the consensus on the Rat Packer is that it's a '65. I had been trying to distinguish by looking at the grill and front bumper, but the different years are just too close for that. Never really thought about looking at tail lights, but that seems to be the sure way to tell. Thanks, guys! And the Stude is a '62. Thanks, Steve. That leaves me needing to know what year the Lindberg Dodge L700 is and what year the Phil Bonner Warbucks Mustang is.
  7. OK. The reason I asked was that you managed to get very distinct separation of parts, so to speak. By that I mean that the rocker arm covers have very prominent edges. The same is true for the intake. I've seen a lot of engines displayed where it looks like there is WAY too much paint and all the individual parts kind of appear as one big unit. I can recall that being a problem for me as a kid. So did you spray or brush paint? It looks like it's sprayed. Maybe that's the key.
  8. Nice build! Love to see MOPARs, any time.
  9. OK, guys. I'll take these one at a time again. 1) Seems there is a differing of opinions on what year the Rat Packer is. I'm not exactly sure what year they stopped calling the car a Chevy II and started calling it a Nova, but I was thinking around '64 or '65. Anybody else? 2) I was pretty sure the Pittman Willys was a '41. Thanks. 3) OK. Blame this on an old pair of eyes. Yes, the Charger is a Revell, not an AMT. My old eyes didn't see straight when looking at my spreadsheet. So that's a 2007? OK. Thanks for that too. 4) The '66 Mercury is a Park Lane. Thanks. 5) And the Galaxie Styline is a '61. Great. 4 out of 5 identified for sure. Verdict is still out on the Rat Packer. I'll wait and see if anybody else chimes in. Now, onto the next three. This is all of them, I think. 6) What year is the Lindberg Dodge L700? 7) What year is the Phil Bonner Warbucks Mustang? 8) What year is the Jo-Han Studebaker Lark Snap Kit?
  10. Here are the first of kits I need info on for my spreadsheet inventory. If additional info on any one is needed, holler and I can post photos of the kit. 1) AMT "Rat Packer" Chevy II Need to know what year the car is. 2) AMT KS Pittman Willys Gasser Need year. I think it's a '41. 3) AMT Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee Need year. 4) AMT 1966 Mercury Hardtop (Green Car on box) What model is that car? 5) AMT Ford Galaxie Styline What year?
  11. Nicely done.
  12. Q and A. OK. Yeah, that does make sense. Thanks. I'll get a few of my unknowns posted later today.
  13. Great build, Tony. Love that color. I'm really impressed with the overall appearance of the engine compartment. It's extremely realistic. One question. Did you paint the engine block separately from the rocker arm covers, or did you have the covers on the block when you painted?
  14. Could anyone tell me if this wold be the right place to ask for help in identifying additional info on a few kits? I know I've got around 8 or 10 that I need either a year, model, or other info to complete the entries in my spreadsheet. I don;t want to post them here if there is a better place for that.
  15. My primary reason for creating a spreadsheet inventory was for the same reason you mentioned, Bruce. It's a really easy way to check inventory when on eBay, online retailers, or private parties. If it's a kit I don't have then I might be willing to go a bit more, but if I already have at least one of that particular kit, I might stick to my guns as far as a maximum price. Mine includes Brand, Year, Make, Model, Other, and Notes. Here is a sample of mine. I think I'll add at least 2 more columns, one for Date Completed, and one for Final Notes.
  16. I created a simple spreadsheet to inventory the kits in my stash. I kept putting off getting everything entered into the spreadsheet, but decided that today would be a perfect day to get it done. I have everything entered, but I lack a bit of info on 8 or 10 of the kits I have. Before I post them here for assistance, is this the right place to post that type of thing? I don't want to put something where it doesn't belong. I think what I'll need is just the year of some of the kits that don't specify what year.
  17. I have this image as my laptop wallpaper. I noticed the control arm too. The car appears to be a real masterpiece. Here is my desktop.
  18. Don't hold me to this. If memory serves me the rules for running any car either without a top, or a convertible with top down, required the vehicle to be equipped with both a cage and a 5 point harness. Maybe somebody else could elaborate, or correct me.
  19. Another really great looking box stock build. I didn't think I'd ever really like that color, but it sure does look good on this car.
  20. Really nice looking gasser. I love the fact that it's box stock. Most of my builds will be box stock. When I see a great looking build like this I know there is hope for my builds! Thanks for posting.
  21. Looking forward to seeing this one completed. Nice job so far!
  22. Couldn't agree more. Joseph does really great work and prices are extremely reasonable. I'll be looking forward to seeing your build of this Bronco. I'm not a big 4X4 fan, but definitely prefer the older rigs.
  23. Color looks great. Can't wait to see more! MOPAR, MOPAR, MOPAR.
  24. Really nice build! Super looking job on that engine bay. The stance is just about perfect. Looks mean and ready to race.
