  1. Not specifically 'drag' but straightline racing...powered by a flathead with a Potvin style front mounted blower....tons of pis here: http://public.fotki.com/jferren/lakes-turtledeck/ -RRR
  2. It's been a while since I've done anything on the tanker, but it's back on the front of the bench now. It was determined that a slice would be needed to be taken off of the bottom of the belly, so much hacking ensued...I also started on the frame...much more to come... -RRR
  3. Sweet save! Nice kleen build!!! -RRR
  4. You and your father need a shop truck like this!!!
  5. Agreed. If it's air cooled, it had better be out in the breeze!!!
  6. How about the venerable "Ulrich Mini Men"??? Pose 'em any way you like!!! -RRR
  7. And don't forget that a few "Big Daddy" Don Garlits kits came with "Big" in scale.... -RRR
  8. Sweet build of a kool olde kit. You don't see Daisy mags every day (for good reason?)... -RRR
  9. Z-Man: You're taxing the old brain muscles.... That front end is out of one of the old Revell T kits, the one where the lower front part of the cowl on the body has a cut out on the drivers side for the steering box mount. I'm sure it was originally issued as a (insert known name here) kit and then subsequently re-issued without the tie-in over the years. Maybe others here can help out with the ID of the kit? I have so much stuff in so many boxes that I forget where parts come from sometimes (function of age). The axle is not chromed out of the box. The headers are from the same kit, again not chromed, I had them plated by ChromeTech.
  10. This is based on the recently reissued AMT 'Fruitwagon' Model T kit. I scratched together the back part of the body after chopping the C cutout just a tad to bring the proportions more in line. Built in a '60s show rod style with lots of chrome (some plated by ChromeTech). Decals by Slixx. Buildup pix here: http://public.fotki.com/jferren/c-cab-delivery/ Thanks for looking.... -RRR
  11. Glad you like it! Yeah, the engine hanging out there is a bit weird. That's how the VW engine is and I just hacked off the block and glued the Corvair block on, so not sure if the Corvair has more mounts in 1:1 scale or not....just a quick build, now back to the belly tanker that has been waiting patiently on the bench for several weeks.... -RRR
  12. "And now for something completely different" (no, not a man with three buttocks!) at least for me anyway. This was a quick build starting with the recently reissued AMT SuperBug shorty VW kit. I remember that kit fondly from my youth and I have plans for the body (stretched AA/FA) but that's another post. In any case, I figured the wimpy 4 cylinder mill wouldn't propel those huge rear meats (from the Orange Blossom Special puller truck) very fast, so the VW mill was swapped out for a Corvair 6 cylinder motor (out of the Revell Roth "Road Agent" kit). I've never built a Corvair engine before so it was a bit of a mystery as to how to go about it. I added some Weber style carbs and cone air cleaners, not sure if that's even close to correct, but it's only a model anyways...I beefed up the roll cage with additional bracing and yes, those are Model A headlights (had to throw some hot rod parts on there). Thanks for looking.... -RRR
  13. A pro touring car has to have mad power so the supercharged big block was sourced from the AMT '68 El Camino kit with an air filter from the parts box. The interior is out of the '66 Nova kit with dashboard mods to fit the '65 body. Seats and roll bar from the parts box.... -RRR
  14. Working on the exhaust system.... -RRR
  15. Beautiful! One of your best yet!!! The '37 p/u dash is perfect. What's next? -RRR
  16. Next we turn our (yes, I have a mouse in my pocket) attention to the front end. Cut off the stock frame and stub in the frame from the Revell Willys kit along with it's suspension, along with scratch built shock towers and crossmember, it goes together something like this.... -RRR
  17. A Pro Touring car need s a cowl induction hood, resin cowl grafted to stock hood...sneak peek at stance. Wheels and tires are Pegasus... -RRR
  18. So, in order to make a pro touring style car, we will need some rear tubs, but not THAT big. I slightly "de-tubbed" the chassis from the AMT '66 Nova.... -RRR
  19. I believe you are correct. Apparently there are small differences between '63-'65? I'm a street rod kinda guy, so I'm not that up on my '60s body styles... -RRR
  20. I started this one several months ago. I might even finish it one day! Taking two of the old AMT 'Twister' AWB drag bodies and moving the rear wheel wells back into stock position was the first step.... -RRR
  21. Superb. Nice to see another builder not afraid to drag out the Sawzall... -RRR
  22. Nice chop. -RRR
